PROJECT INFO:
I am looking for a young female singer to perform a Latin-language adaptation of the classic "My Heart Will Go On" from Titanic. Some prior knowledge of Latin is preferred, but instruction on pronunciation (including full IPA transcription if desired) will be provided if you have none but are still interested in the project. We will be using the reconstructed Classical pronunciation model rather than the Ecclesiastical.
Just in case there's any confusion over the name "Latin," you will be singing in the language of the Ancient Romans and NOT in any New-World form of Spanish or Portuguese.
With the exception of 'v' being pronounced like 'w,' the trilled 'r,' and the fact that 'c' and 'g' are NEVER pronounced as in "cent" and "gentle," the Latin consonant sounds are identical or nearly so to their English counterparts. A good overview of the vowels is given here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LwtgvwJljto
DEADLINE: May 29, 2012
RECORDING FORMAT/DELIVERY: 16-bit Stereo MP3 sent as an attachment to linguaphile@earthlink.net (with prior notification of intent to audition on this thread), including "Latin Titanic Audition" in the subject
Audition Verse (with original English line-by-line equivalents for synchronization):
Es hīc (Near, far,)
Quamvīs procul sīs. (Wherever you are,)
Pervīver'ergō crēdō nunc cor. (I believe that the heart does go on.)
In mē (Once more)
Manēs sēcūrē. (You open the door,)
Iānuam prō mē aperīs. (And you're here in my heart, and)
Pervīvet prō tē hoc cor. (My heart will go on and on.)
Thanks in advance for your participation!
