Hi everyone!
I wanted to try my hand at some song mixing. And I have been in a passionate, steamy romance with Final Fantasy IX (otherwise known as the best video game ever) for quite some time now. Hence, my hosting of a
Melodies of Life Songdub!
Female Parts
Eiko- soprano
Eiko is a young girl who can summon eidolons. Her voice should be high and cutesy.
Garnet- selfcasted (Sorry, I'm being annoying.)
Freya- low mezzo-soprano or alto
AS Freya is very serious and strong, I imagined her voice to be a lower female voice.
Vivi- alto
Vivi's actually a boy but since he's only 8, I figured he would be better suited to be played by a female.
Male Parts
Zidane- tenor
Zidane's the 16 protagonist of the whole game. It would be excellent if his bright and cheery demeanor was apparent in his voice.
Steiner- baritone
Steiner is Garnet's very serious knight. His voice should be significantly lower than Zidane's but higher than Amarant's.
Amarant- lower baritone/bass
I always pictured Amarant being played by Travis Willingham, meaning that a lower voice is a must.
Androgynous Parts
(I wasn't really sure which catagory to put this in :sweat)
Quina- Low alto/high tenor
Oh, Quina, you're a tricky one. S/he is not given a definite gender during the game. That being the case, Quina's voice should be more androgynous. Don't worry about it too much and just go for it! :)
Audition Guidelines
For audition lines, please sing the second chorus of the song as follows:
A voice from the past, joining yours and mine.
Adding up the layers of harmony.
And so it goes, on and on.
Melodies of life,
To the sky beyond the flying birds
Forever and beyond.
Record it as a mp3 and name it "Character_Audition_Your Username.mp3" (So, for example, "Garnet_Audition_animeismyaddiction.mp3")
Then, just send it on over to simplysarah2323@live.com!

Now for my philosophy on casting: I'm not looking for the most amazing singers out there. More important is the willingness and ability to work hard. So even if Adele auditioned but it was clear she wouldn't send in her lines on time or rerecord something when I asked, I would have take a pass on her. And it's okay if your voice doesn't exactly match the part! Good effort is (usually) enough for me!
I haven't set a deadline yet, but I don't think I'll get to sit down and organize everything until after final exams, which would be June 6th. If I have everyone I need at that point, I'll cut it off then. So, for now, the deadline is June 6th!
I'll be eagerly awaiting your auditions, lovelies!

P.S. Hopefully, the text color will make up for the sad lack of pictures. I did have pictures but I just couldn't get them to work. God, I'm such a tech noob. Also, I was planning on making the "Female Parts" and "Male Parts" pink and blue respectively but I didn't want to enforce gender stereotypes. Besides, what would the androgynous color be? And it's a nice blue anyways.
