Hey VAA!
We're a group of Norwegian animation students, and we're currently looking for English-spoken voice actors for a motion comic project.
This is a non-commercial endeavor, but you will definitely get something cool to show off in your portfolio if you decide lend us your voice acting skills!
The motion comic is going to be in a short film format, reminiscent of the Metal Gear Solid Graphic Novel (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B1W9JPY5EZ8), Infamous cutscenes (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ThJyS3vjCzM), and various others (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dk-F2zDgwKs&list=PL51A09CCB4BEE43B0&index=10&feature=plpp_video).
We estimate the length of it to be around 10 minutes once completed, although we're still in the animatic pre-production stage so this might change.
(The film will include some blood and pretty graphic violence, but it's all drawn in comic book style.)
Story description:
In a semi-modern fantasy world of old norse mythology, some people are descendants of Gods and Jotuns (giants/trolls), although this knowledge is lost to most.
A man, Falk, and his wife are suddenly kidnapped by IceCorp, a medical corporation run by descendants of the Jotun, who have found out Falk is directly related to Tyr, the norse God of war. They take him to their lab where they intend to extract his soul, or "essence", to obtain his dormant divine powers. Falk escapes, however, but has to leave his wife behind. He is hurt in the escape, but is brought to safety by an old man by the name of Grim. He learns of his heritage and with the help of the man's two sons Baldur and Trym, who also have a bone to pick with the enemy, they storm the enemy headquarters; but not before Grim is killed by the enemy captain Fenris. Fighting ensues, and Falk is subdued again. At the last minute, the brothers arrive and Baldur manages to save Freya, but Trym is killed by the Jotun leader Rygar. In a fit of rage, Falk breaks free of his restraints and takes on Rygar for a final showdown.
We're mainly looking for strong male voices, with depth and character. But there is also one female with limited dialogue.
We think a rough kind of scandinavian/north european accent will suit the project very well, but we're not too picky as the deadline is coming up pretty fast. Just get a feel for the character and run with your gut. A good microphone is of course a big plus, but we greatly appreciate all contributions.

============= CHARACTERS ================

Freya is Falk's wife and is really kind of helpless in the movie, although this is attributed to heavy sedation and experimentation.
Basically she's just a really scared, but kind of brave young woman who is kidnapped and has no idea what is going on. Most of her lines are variations of screams.
It's important that the fear she feels comes through so her screams doesn't seem tacked on or fake.
Age: mid-20s
Audition Line 1: (Someone breaks into her house and grabs her. She's inside and this is heard from outside the house, a distance away) "AAaaaaAA!" or "EEEEeeeK!" Basically a long scream of shock/terror.
Audition Line 2: (waking up from a daze, being dragged into another room) "...what are you doing... what... no.. help... Falk! FALK!!!"
Audition Line 3: Various muffled screams/sobs. (She's sitting tied up and gagged. Just put your hand or a piece of cloth over your mouth and try out some sequences.)
Audition Line 4: (also muffled. scared but angry and determined, to her captor) "Go to hell, you bastard!"

The main character. Falk grew up as an orphan in a small village and is now a hunter by trade, living in the hills outside the village with his wife.
He is strong, scruffy, a determined man of few words. Once he sets his mind to a task he means to complete it.

First oblivious, when he discovers his powers he becomes amazingly strong and tough, but has no love for the dead gods who left the humans with their cursed powers. He's kind of the stereotypical "unwanted hero", in a sense. Falk is sometimes referres to as "the pureblood" by the villains. His voice should be scruffy, kind of deep and brooding. He is a serious man with little time for jokes.
Age: 33
Audition Line 1: (waking, restrained, to find his wife being dragged away) "..Freya! (breaking free of his restraints with much exertion).......aaaaaaaAAAAAAARGH!!!"
Audition Line 2: (contemplating what he's just heard) "Jotun..? Power of the gods? ..what the hell are you talking about, 'people like us'? I'm just a simple hunter. What powers could they possibly want from me?"
Audition Line 3: (is fed up with the Rygar's rant, slams his fist in the door) "ENOUGH! Let her go, and let's finish this like men, you delusional maniac."
GRIM
This character is already voiced. He is the father of Trym & Baldur, a tired old man with much knowledge who lost his wife to the Jotun experiments. He is also the narrator of the film, providing the prologue and epilogue narration.

A big and burly bald guy with a braided beard who is very protective of his younger brother Baldur. He is pretty serious, but loves a good fight. He is not one to let his emotions control him, although he has much desire for vengeance. After their family was kidnapped and he lost his sisters and mother, they have been living in hiding in an old abandoned viking house, training for the day to take revenge on IceCorp comes. His weapon of choice is a big two-handed axe.
Voice should be powerful and mature.
Age: 34
Audition Line 1: (pulls out his axe, his eyes glowing with lust for revenge) "We will make Fenris bleed."
Audition Line 2: (their father just having drawn his last breath, Trym lifts Baldur to his feet) "Stand, little brother. This is no time for grief. Father will have no funeral pyre. We will honor him with blood."

A more slender and comely man, with a slightly less serious nature than his brother Trym. He's more of a fast rogue-type fighter who likes knives and swords. He also harbours hatred towards Fenris and Jotun descendants for killing his family. He wears his emotions more on his sleeve compared to his brother but is quick to shift his focus on the task at hand. He loves his brother and also loves a good fight. They believe a warriors death is a great glory, but all the same Baldur is easily overcome by shock when he sees his loved ones fall.
This could potentially be voiced by the same actor as Trym, but the voice should be a deal lighter to match his slender frame. In any case his voice should be mature, and kind of overly confident, but not in a very obvious way, if that makes sense.

Audition Line 1: (Holding back his brother by the shoulder as Falk storms off) "Let him go, brother. He has his fight, we have ours. (hears enemies approaching) ...you ready for this?"

A cruel and ruthless but disciplined man, posessing ice-elemental powers due to his Jotun heritage. He's captain of Rygar's band of Jotun descended warriors, and like his boss he truly feels that the Jotun have been wronged by the Gods and are the rightful rulers of the world. He takes great pleasure in violence, and shuns no means to complete his master's commands, and is not afraid to die in to achieve their combined goals. He grew up as a poor kid in the gutter, doing anything it took to get to a position of power in the world. He was picked up as a youth by Rygar is now his right hand man. Fenris should have a menacing, scary voice.
Age: 36
Audition Line 1: (speaking over his shoulder, while leaving the room) "Bring the pureblood. ...kill the others."
Audition Line 2: (sarcastic) "Very impressive, but unfortunately your efforts mean nothing. As soon as we have the pureblood we will be unstoppable. ...a pity you won't be here to see it."
Audition Line 3: (evil grin, exerting force to change into his "Jotun-form") "Witness..... the TRUE power of the Jotun!"

The head villain, a direct descendant of the Jotun lord of fire. An evil but well-spoken man who feels the Jotun are the rightful rulers of the world. He found a way to steal peoples powers by extracting their divine souls and adding that power to his own or anyone he sees fit. He started IceCorp as a cover for this and gained many Jotun followers. With Falks powers he believes he can accomplish his goals and usher in a new era of Jotun rule. His voice should be confident and powerful, but not "loud". His delivery should be very articulate and kind of slow, with a "know it all"-attitude.
Age: 45
Audition Line 1: (playing with a ritual dagger, speaking to Freya who is tied up and muffled) "What is it, my love? Are you scared? (pause) Don't be. I'm sure your man is just around the corner. ...he wouldn't want to miss this, after all."
Audition Line 2: (having just killed Trym, talking to Baldur) "Fear not, little one. You go to join your brother shortly."
Audition Line 3: (walking towards Falk confidently in the rain, almost laughing at him) "Have you finally realised you cannot defeat me? Your soul is MINE! (falk runs) Go on, run, and ling to life for a few moments longer!"
MANIC DOCTOR (smaller role)
Really just an ugly evil Jotun torture-doctor. A crazy kind of personality, a bit like the Joker in the Dark Knight, but not so brave when put in a dangerous situation.
Age: 30-ish
Audition Line 1: (tries to laugh manically, as well as he can, considering he is being held by the throat against a wall) "You're too late, godspawn. You can't save her now." (Try to grip yourself lightly by the throat and speak the line if you find this hard to imagine. just be careful, lol)
Auditon line 2: (put in a gas chamber and threatened) "Allright! Okay! ...she's in the other tower, at the top floor. Now let me out!"
JARN (smaller role)
Lieutenant Jotun with lightning elemental powers. A cocky bastard. Doesn't necessarily have the deepest or darkest of voices.
Age: 30-ish
Audition Line: (his henchmen moving forward, he halts them a moment with this line) "Remember, Rygar needs him alive. So don't harm him - (pause for effect) - too much (grin)."

There are a few smaller roles like another doctor and some henchmen, which I hope to distribute later among those of you that send in auditions.
I might also require some "battle sounds" from some of the characters, like grunts and battle cries. I'll come back to you on that when the time comes.
