What is with all these people lately, telling me they're pawning their stuff to afford mics for this hobby? It's been a common theme in conversations lately, so I'll ask it here, as I do.
Have you (or would you) ever consider selling some of your stuff so you could afford better equipment?

I've tried it before to sell some of my less needed items, so yes I have considered it.

We missed a few days and I was just wondering about this too lol.
Nope. I would never.
If I want something better I just save up and buy it rather than getting rid of other stuff (unless of course it's something I'm done with/absolutely not using).

No. If I sell items that I no longer need then it's for rent or clothes. For mics and such? Save up and only get to selling if it's for more important things.

Nope, I can't possibly do that. Especially since I have no plans to pursue this as a career. I can just save up my own money. XD

Since voice acting is just a mere interest for me,I don't see myself selling anything to get a better Mic or anything like that. My interest career-wise deals with leading anime and videogame projects as I like to aim high. I'd love to do some VA work on the side but that's the limit with me.

Yep. I've sold old gear off to buy better gear. I had TOO many mics at one point, so I sold them and bought one nice mic. If you have stuff you're not using, why not sell it to fund something better that you WILL use?

I suppose. Maybe a few things like DVDs of stuff I now never watch, and books no-one reads, stuff like that. But I probably wouldn't spend it on new equipment, unless my mic broke.

I'm usually sentimental, but if I got some shit I find to be worthless stuff hanging around the house that I own, then sure, I don't see why I turn it into my own gold when it comes to getting far in this.

Definitely!
I'm usually throwing out half the house anyway. I like to sort through things and clean up; out with the old, in with the new I say.

I'm always doing a purge of the things in my house so stuff that is useless does not stay around for very long!
As for selling old stuff to buy new equipment... for me the answer is no. VAing is only a hobby for me and I am content with my mic (flaws and all). Producing is more my thing and my laptop does just fine with it, so no need to get a better computer... though I should consider it at some point (laptop is about 5 years old and still works like a dream!). If I had plans to go professional, I would just spend a few hours with a professional sound engineer in a booth and record an awesome demo reel. But that's just me :)
