-flounces in- First post here. ^^

-pokes topic- So, what are some of your favorite voices to do/ones that you can do best?

Mine Are:

[Dubbed] Kouga ~ InuYasha: Not so good at doing his Japanese voice but I'm getting better. I can do his voice almost perfectly, not to mention he's my favorite character... Aside from Ginta-kun. ^^

[Dubbed] Ginta ~ InuYasha: Getting better at doing his, but it's kinda hard considering him and Hakkaku don't speak much during the Anime. :S

[Japanese/Dubbed] Miroku ~ InuYasha: Recentely started doing his voice. I'm alright, defenetly not one of my bests, but I'm getting better at it.

[Dubbed] Vegeta ~ DragonBall Z: Wow. Like... I'm uuber good at his voice! Especially when I say: Kakkorot and Sayajin. ^^

[Dubbed] Gohan ~ DBZ: All his voices I'm pretty good at doing. Especially his younger voice, around the Freiza Saga.

[Dubbed/Japanese] Piccolo ~ DBZ: Recently took it up on doing Piccolo's voice. I must say, I'm pretty good at the Japanese voice. Dubbed, I'm getting better but it's not the greatest. I usually break out into a coughing fit during one of his lines. lolz

My best voice is Vegeta. I've been able to do his since I was seven.

I can't do any girl voices. I tried the dubbed Sango and failed... Terribly. Okay, so it wasn't THAT bad, but still. -_- The strangest thing is... I'm a girl. Oo;

..wait.. you're a girl and you can get as deep and gruff as Scott McNeil O_o;

But anyway..

Uzumaki Naruto [Naruto] - As tired as I get from doing it and despite how much it hurts afterwards, it really is fun yelling and making those grunting noises~

Tsukasa/Elk [.hack// Series] - I've got a Brianne Siddal like quality to my voice so it's pretty natural for me to sound like characters that Brianne Siddal has voiced. I like being Tsukasa in particular, but no one really does .hack projects ;-; (*hinthint* Outlaw Star stuff would be nice too >>;)

Pikachu [Pokemon] -What's not fun about sounding like a constipated rat? XP

Bleh.. I'm tired. can't think of anymore at the moment. *needs to stop posting at 2AM*

Two am? It's four am where I am. Insomniac. -_-

Yeah, I already have a pretty low voice, making it gruff was just a matter of practice. At first, I sounded like a drugged up cat, meowing. I practice Scott's voice, ALOT though. But everytime I record myself with my microphone, I sound very bad {or most things get cut out} ... It's like that for all my voice. Oo;
Damn cheap microphone.

You can do pikachu? I can almost do the 'pika' part but when I get to the 'chu' my voice sounds like: 'tooom' or 'chow'. I can do Charmeleon and Charmander's. ^^

I'd really like to hear your man voices, Ginta! o_O;; I'm interested now.

Favorite voices... well, I always get cast as the high-pitched children voices, but they're fun. ^^ Though they are hard sometimes and tend to wear me out. XD

Mostly, though, I like doing voices that are high, but not too much higher than my normal range. I'm most comfortable with those. :D (Sakura from Naruto, 'normal' girl voices and stuff like that.)

Though lately I've been experimenting with male voices, and that's fun, but so damn hard. XD;; Haha, got any tips? >D I'd really like to know.

Gintaaa! I wanna hear your guy voices too. I've been doing boys for some time and I'd really like to hear what yours sound like~

Demo.. Scott has an incredibly large range. I spent three days with the guy, and I still can't figure out what his real voice sounds like. e_e;

OH! .. forgot my favorite voices. HARHAR.

Boys. - I LOVE voice acting as boys, preffereabbly young ones, arrogant ones who like to get into trouble. I think my favorite thus far is Son Goku of Saiyuki, and Naruto. :D

Shy Girls - Just because I like to play with my range. I love voicing the shy girls, because they're a real challenge, and I've been doing practice on my very own OC since she's quiet and shy as it is.

ahhh.. So I guess I don't have a specific favorite character just yet, but, oh well. I may some day!

As soon as I get a new mic, I'll post some of my voice clips. ^^

Doing voices comes in handy for prank calls. Expecially using Vegeta.

'Hello?'

'Kakkorot! You're a disgrace to all sayajins!'

'...What?'

Teehee. Or on telemarketers! My turn to harass THEM!

Kat Avery
07-31-2005, 08:05 AM
XD!! I LOVE messing with people when it comes to voices! When I pick up the phone and someone asks for me, I tell them I'm my brother (and.. scarily enough, I have a crossplay that's pretty convincing. I've convinced a good group of people that I have a twin brother) and then continuously talk to them until they actually figure out who I am.

'Course, with telemarketers I'd just be creepy and do some strained-out crazy laugh.. but I have yet to try that. <3

GintaLover4Life
07-31-2005, 08:11 AM
Haha. Now you're making me I wish I have a sibling! OO;

Ah, telemarketers. Gotta love 'em. I tried to do a Kouga voice with them once, they thought I was mentally challenged. Man, I laughed until my sides hurt. But then again, I guess your voice does change over the phone. I only wish I had it recorded to hear what they were hearing.

Kat Avery
07-31-2005, 08:17 AM
XD Yeah, voices do sound a bit different over the phone. But what can y'do, huh?

I only have a younger sister. If you want her though, she's yours; I don't want 'er. :D

-_- The strangest thing is... I'm a girl. Oo;

O_o you're a girl and can do those kind of voices? wow..

Yeah anyways...

Ones I can do the best are Feminine Men, especially if they originally a Female Seiyuu doing the voice. Like, Yue (Cardcaptor Sakura, my favorite role as well hehe), Shinji Ikari (Evangelion), Izumi Rio (Fullmoon) and many others.

For more into favorite voices I like doing I’d say, most of the kinds of characters I listed above..lol..as well as slightly more medium voices like Van Fanel (Escaflowne) or Alviss (MAR). I also love playing, though not really much of a specific voice type since these can be just about anything , animal type characters that either talk or don’t speak in words. Hehe, those are always fun, especially if it’s growling noises and stuff.

Hack just started airing here not too long ago and the first thing I thought when I heard Tsukasa was OMG that sounds just like Rika :D

hmm my favorite voices to record for fandubs n stuff would be Sailor Moon, Mai Valentine, Shippou and Jessie from Team rocket.

overall I like recording girl voices not too far from my normal voice.
and I do like recording for an occasional boy character though my boy voices aren't that strong and they usually come out sounding a bit girlish.
My sultry women voices are forced so I'm eagerly waiting to grow older so my voice can sound more sexy naturally lmao ^^

I love doing energetic, high pitched ppl. They're so awesome. Or low pitched evil people, they're exciting. I guess, its the personalities that intrigue me, more than the voices.

topleka
08-01-2005, 02:18 AM
My favorite character voice is Bakura from Yu-gi-oh. I enjoy voicing characters of dual nature, and voicing him allows me to play cute innocent and dark evil at the same time. XD

My favorite type of voice to play is the disaffected feminine guy, though. Not sure why. ^_^;; It's just fun to voice with an attitude, and yet try to stay bland at the same time...

I don't have any really "character" voices that I do. I'm not usually one for minicing voices from dubs and such. I'm more happy doing original voices.

I love doing anything in my normal voice because... well... it comes naturally. DUH! Hehe!

I also like doing "soft spoken" voices because it doesn't strain my voice at all. Ever since I started taking voice lessons, I've been trying to get away from doing voices that are raspy or cause me to put alot of strain on my vocal cords. I don't wanna damage anything, ya know?

My voice can go pretty deep as well!
The voices I love to do are:

Dante-Devil May Cry
Trish-Devil May Cry
Leon Kennedy Resident Evil 4
Maria-Silent Hill 2
LauraSilent Hill 2
Heather/Claudia-Silent Hill 3
Faye Valentine-Cowboy Bebop
EDCowboy Bebop
PaineFFX-2

-gasp- Seymour? I can sorta do his voice but I hate it. -_- Everytime he pops up on screen and says something, I poke him. And in reality, we all know it was Tidus he wanted to marry. Not Yuna. lolz

Everyone says that I do an awesome Tasuki from FY (at least the bus ride dubs that StarFlare (sorry I have to call you that, I'm so used to it) did). I really enjoy the medium high teenagers though, or even younger. Young voices are so much fun to play with. I also enjoy a good evil voice once in a while, but it sounds wierd coming from a guy with a pretty high voice

Well, my #1 favorite character to play ever would have to be Kagome from Inuyasha. She's cute and sounds adorable, although she's a bit frustrating to play because Moneca Stori has a pretty unique voice, and it's difficult to go that high pitched.

Then, there's Haruko from FLCL. Crazy alien chick with a Vespa and a bass guitar. She's far easier to play too..

The one character I'm usually told I'm good at is Asuka from Evangelion. It's fun playing her emotional scenes and yelling at Shinji and such. Sakura from Naruto isn't that hard either.

Cristina

My favorite role with always be Sailor Venus~ But lately, I've really loved playing lower pictched characters because they really give me a challenge <3.

08-01-2005, 03:11 PM
Hm...

Akane Tendo/Shanpuu from Ranma 1/2: I started doing Ranma voices since I first saw the show, but those two were the voices that I really enjoyed. ...well...I like voicing Ryoga too, but that opportunity never seems to arise. XD

English Accents: I'm normally good at picking up accents and languages; English was the first I tried since the Spice Girl days so I've grown to use it easily...I'm still working on some other accents, but any English dialect is great for me. ;D

I normally don't have a specific character or voice so I couldn't name much. ^.~

er..

Totoro: [Cantonese version]
Satsuki Kusakabe and Mei Kusakabe: They're hillarious in the Cantonese version. Their names first names are literally: Toliet Paper (younger sister) and Grass Paper (older sister). Last name: Big Mouth. Ever since I was 6, I watched it and loved screaming out the lines in the movie. Later I started to mimick them.

Totoro: Um.. just repeat "Boom boom baaa-- Dee Dee Daaaa--" a couple of times and you can do it too!

Kiki's Delivery Service: [Cantonese version]

This movie is what made me want to become a VA in the first place. I was 6 when I watched it, and wanted to be the cat. I can do the cantonese version of TienSee perfectly.

Kiki: The little witch who delievers packages. Easy to mimick voice. It's really simple. Maybe cause I've watched it waaaay too many times for my own good..

TienSee: The little black cat. Oooh he's the cutest thing EVER. My favourite lines EVER are: (course, they're in cantonese, but translated..)

TienSee: Kiki, I'm bored, let's go Karaoke. Today, I'm really high!

TienSee [upon seeing a cup that had a design that looked just like him]: Kiki see! My brother! (COMPLETELY in English! But "brother" was pronounced like "Brud-DA!")

TienSee [sees Kiki admiring a pair of shoes]: Kiki, why don't you buy a pair of sunglasses? From what I've heard, if you wear it, you'll become really sexy!
[the next lines are funny because it's the word SEXY broken up into two, with the word "whatever" stuck in between them]
Kiki: Set-mut guei See ah.. [Set-See is the canto way to say sexy]

Most of the time, I guess I can do dangerous women (middle-low range) and really really soft-shy girls. Umm.. I can do Sumomo from Chobits. Also.. for some really really UNKNOWN reason, I can do Alex Row's voice from Last Exile.

GForce

Anything that allows me to use my normal voice but allows me to go CRAZY with it. I have so much fun with those roles and it shows in my lines.

Lenne [FFX-2]
Taylor [JTASI/JTASID]

Rinoa [FF8]
Ranma Saotome [Ranma½]
Nikki/Lucy [MC,TTB]
Anna Kyouyama [Shaman King]

Lenne because she's my favorite FF character, though we don't see too much of her. Taylor because she reminds me a lot of myself, and the part holds a special place in my heart. Rinoa because it's just fun to give extra life to one of my favorite FF-girls. Ranma because I love her attitude and persona. Nikki/Lucy because it was just fun to do. Anna Kyouyama because it allows me to do a voice that is different from what people usually hear. Lucien once said he didn't realize it was me doing the lines.

Yeah. o.o

Well if we're talking pre-established characters, mine would be; Kadaj (big surprise here), Dilandau, Sumeragi Subaru (Danae's ancient Tokyo Babylon manga-slide-show project!), Nitren Bakai (Silent Realm), and Shindo Shuuichi.

As far as voices that are simply in my repetoir however, I enjoy doing my various old men voices (Walter Brennen type being the most fun to do), and my favorite impressions are the homestarrunner characters, and Gollum. And Sean Connery to a lesser extent.

I haven't actually done any voices yet. But the only person(or animal) that i'm said to sound like is the moose from Brother Bear. Which is pretty easy to do.

My 'kitten' impression is used quite a lot, just randomly during the day.

I love doing soft spoken girls, like Shoko was. It's just so easy to breeze right through lines when I have to talk that way. ^_^

But the evil girls are also fun to do. Nerice was an utter blast to play and she was the eviliest evil ever.

I can't really do many specific voices from anime with the exception of one! Winry Rockbell. She sounds like me naturally, except my voice is a bit lower.

But otherwise, I like doing high roles. They are so much fun!!! That and basic medium voices. I can do those since... well.. that's my voice!

I can't do guys at all. -_- Except for drugged up stoner boys. I can do those. Or surfer guys.

But yea, Chibi is definity my favorite pitch.

Ayame
08-03-2005, 04:48 AM
I like doing medium-pitched girls best. Favorite character would be Rebecca from Count Cain...though it was my own original take on the character.

I love wacky crazy voices, beit a mad scienticst, an evil villian, or whatever. As long as its weird and breaks the norm. I dont really have any specific charachter though.

08-12-2005, 10:53 PM
Hmm.. well it was James from Team Rocket that first got me in to VAing.. so, I do enjoy doing him, although not much Pokémon around these days so not much chance to do it...

I enjoy doing Snape from Harry Potter, and Palpatine from Star Wars.

I have the most fun doing the voices from Little Britain. Especially Lou and Andy... :D

Zaku (from Stray's SWAT series)
Miroku (Inuyasha)
Kyo (Fruits Basket)
Inuyasha
Richard Nixon
Strong Bad

Hrm... I love doing it all, but I'd have to say some of my favorite characters would be the Princess from Silly Kingdom, Sailor Moon, Ururu from Bleach..hrm.. But I really love girls with attitude and determination. ^_^ Or really cute little girls...or mature sexy women. LOL. I guess I can't really pick! ^_^;;

Hikaru - Magic Knight Rayearth: Oh my, oh my... I just LOVE doing cheery, bubbly voices XD

Tabitha- Sabrina Online Radio Play: A kid's voice ;_; So cute! Once again, hyper, bubbly, and random XD

I have one of the most...disturbingly high voice... Seriously...
Anything in the Medium-high to UBER HIGH Soprano is great with me
...>.> What's even sadder, is that at will I can make myself sound uber alto

(Insert most teenaged/child/young adult female roles and probably some young males) ...I can do those XD

I'd have to say mine are:
Crocker: Fairly OddParents
Steve Buscemi
Auron: Final Fantasy X
Jecht: Final Fantasy X
Randy Savage
Peter Griffin,
as far as existing voices go. For my own special brand of vocal nonsense, I enjoy my announcer type, my evil villian type and my EverQuest Addict Type. My personal fav is this one I call 'The Vet'. Essentially it is an old man from Maine who has fought every war in the 20th century but alzheimers has him constantly confusing the events of the war. They all take place in 1954, and saying that at 4am while punch drunk made me break down in laughter one night. Those who aren't familiar with New England accents, 1954 would be pronounced nahnteen fifta fah.

My favorite voices are the Piccolo and the old man. The rest are just different accents or tones and pitches. And the creepy voice I do.

Personally, being a huge Xenosaga series fan, I'd say my favorite characters to voice would be chaos (from Episode I and II) and Albedo (adult and child), as far as characters go.

Other than that, I enjoy practicing many different methods of demonic voicing, a very typical New Yorker/Jersey accented character, and Miroku from Inuyasha (English version).

pyromaster
08-21-2005, 01:34 AM
hmm... I love doing evil characters, and one my favourites would probably be Volgin from Metal Gear Solid 3. It's pretty hard to get into, and my voice sounds much different then his, but it's still fun to voice none the less.

And I also love doing Gimpy from Undergrads, as his like the coolest nerd I ever saw.

LionelRGuy
08-22-2005, 11:06 AM
Hmmm....... havin' plenty to choose from makes it hard to narrow it down to a choice few. XD

Anyway, I'd have to say some of my faves are:

Beelzemon [Digimon] (my 1st role to ever make it into a clip, over at F.E.T.'s Digimon FanDub Group - http://db-destiny.net )
Zero [Mega Man X] (my 1st role at the VAA)
Commander Linus Bung-Diddly [SWAT] (I co-write the series with my partner Stray, so it allows for a lot of improvisation and whatnot)
Burai [Casshern]
Angemon-Seraphimon, Guilmon-Dukemon, Greymon-WarGreymon, Yamaki, Leomon, Cherubimon, Ankylomon/Shakkoumon [Digimon]
Barret, Reno, Cloud [FF7]
Gambit, Nightcrawler, Colossus, Wolverine, Beast [X-Men]
Frog, Magus, Cyrus [Chrono Trigger]
Snowflake the Horny Talking Cat [Life 101]
Peter Griffin [Family Guy]
Matt, Poindexter, Ojii [Echoes]
Mega Man, Shadow Man, Pharoah Man, Star Man, Sigma, Armored Armadillo, Spark Mandrill, Magna Centipede, Neon Tiger [Mega Man]
Claudio, Borochio [Much Ado About Nothing]
Donatello, Leonardo, Raphael, Rocksteady [Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles]
Billy, Tommy, Lord Zedd, others [Power Rangers/Sentai]
Brody [The Garden State]
Kyle Rayner, John Stewart [Green Lantern]
Bullock, Bane
[b]singer [whatever I get to sing for]
pretty much any other character I get to use my "Joysey" voice for

..... holy crap, that was a lot. Guess there just haven't been too many roles I haven't been more than happy to do. XD

I like doing Brian Drummond's Vegita voice. I great to yell and express anger with.

I like trying to do Chris Latta's Star scream voice but I cant really get it. Still it's great.

Anything that sounds like a Axl Rose really.

I like doing really hi pitched voices.

Tomoyo (Card Captor Sakura) I love doing that high pitched squeal of hers, I did her voice for an episode and some clips from the second CCS movie. lol, it was awesome! I'm just surprised I could hit it.

Cheza (Wolf's Rain) I do a really good Cheza voice, the only problem...was that I have a bad quality mic...lol *cries* oh the humanity!

Tomoe (Samurai X:Trust & Betrayal) Okay...I did this for the OAV a friend was doing, and it rocked! I hadn't known what the original English voice was when we dubbed it for fun. I just based my voice on what I thought it'd sound like. Than, after the project was done for Christmas, the friend that headed the production sent me the DVD of the Dub by ADV, I couldn't believe it! I sounded really close to her voice! It made my day, lol.

Subaru (.hack/sign) I also do a good job at subaru's voice. lol. I guess I'm just good at the quiet spoken girls..though...in Tomoyo's case...that's not true...XD

Luna (SailorMoon English dub) The ORIGINAL English dubb voice. The one with the accent! I can mimic that perfectly...lol, I'm proud of myself for it. The accent actually has a hint of old irish too.

I do really cute boys voices, and I've gotten better at my teenage boy voices. lol I'm getting there!

I tend not to try and rip off other VA's voices. My favorite and most comfortable is medium/stress/sinister. Sounds creepy and evil, but not like that one guy.. Sound Cage does him, can't remember his name.

I can do a decent Chris Sabat Picollo and a good Vegeta.

I also like to do Simon Watermens Kain voice. It's the only one I really enjoy to copy because it's so nobel sounding.

I like doing my Ash Ketchum (Pokemon) impression. Eet ees fahn. I also like trying to imitate Lara Jill Miller, mainly as Juniper Lee (Life and Times of Juniper Lee) or Kari (Digimon). XD

Alot of times, I do weird voices with one of my friends... our favorite voices to do together are grandpas. Especially bouncy grandpas.

I've been told I do a really good Sean Connery impression that I do by mistake sometimes o.O

Besides that I don't really do character voices or anything, I just randomly make up my own voices and talk like that every now and then xD

Sakura from Card Captor sakura or Tsubasa Chronicle: I love her personality soooo much and I've been told many times that my voice sounds sweet and innocent. >^^<

Mitsuki/Fullmoon from Fullmoon Wo Sagashite: I love to play her becuase I get to sing and play a young girl. >^^<

Sana from Kodocha: I've never gotten to actually play her voice but I've always wanted to becuase she is what you call my "Act-A-Like". Sana and I are almost the same person becuase we act the same.

Those are the two characters that have names. Other than those I love to voice shy, queit, or young girls. I also really enjoy being the voice for characters that freak out and go crazy all the time like Ichigo for example.

GUILMON-from Digimon season 3,he's like the only Digimon character i can get really close to.
MUFASA-from The Lion King,he has a deep voice, but i can get low enough to do his voice.
TIMON-from The Lion King, its completely fun to do his voice........its so distinct and especially fun wen i have to sing Hakuna Matata.
WAFFLE-from Catscratch,he's one of those stupid types of characters (you know), and he has a high voice.
GORDON-from Catscratch,he has an irish sorta accent to him.
DAFFY DUCK-from Looney Tunes,cuz he's Looney.
ELMER FUDD-from Looney Tunes,hello?, cuz he's a looney tune.
SYLVESTER CAT-from Looney Tunes cuz i canand he's also fun to play.
BUGS BUNNY-from Looney Tunesi always try and make an attempt at him....never realy comes out right.
HOMESTAR RUNNER-fun.
STRONGBAD-fun.
DAISUKE NIWA-from DNAngel, he has a realy high voice, so thats a challenge for me, but its still fun playing daisuke/he's serious yet funny especially when arguing with Dark.
DARK MOUSY-from DNAngel, somewat get close to his voice.
DAIKI NIWA-from DNAngel,a fun old/grandpa anime character.
PICCOLO-from DBZ,i can get close.
KOGA-from inuyasha,same thing i can get close.
INUYASHA-from inuyasha,i like doing his voice, its just that i dont know how close i can get to his voice.

PSYDUCK-from pokemon, AWESOME POKEMON. funny.
JAMES-from pokemon, he's also funny and i like blasting off again and again.
TREEKO-cuz i can.
SASUKE UCHIHA-from Naruto,he's a serious character and i like doing serious characters sometimes.
BULLWINKLE MOOSE-from the rocky and bullwinkle show,he's an OLD cartoon character, but still fun to play.
ROGER RABBIT-from who framed roger rabbit,I like doing his voice cuz he's one of those fun and zany types of characters(and just to warn you guys i only make an attempt at roger's voice, i dont think i can sound fully like him).
JOHN HEDER-i like doing his voice cuz he play NAPOLEON DYNAMITE from NAPOLEON DYNAMITE and CLARK from THE BENCHWARMERS, he's just an awesome guy.

So, those are the characters i like to play basicly on my own time...........MOST OF THESE CHARACTERS I MAKE ATTEMPTS AT DOING THEIR VOICES.......that is all (more might come). guys that i like to voice are either Serious type characters or Comedic type characters.........and or serious and also Funny(at times)

For me, anything really strange and differnet (something my friends will hear and say "wow! that doesn't sound anything like you! That's really cool) is the most fun for me. So Naruto's voice is really fun and I'm working on deepening my voice so I can sound like a man (just 'cause of the challenge). I once read that an actor was able to lower is voice a full octive then it's lowest after he worked for a few months at it. I'd like to have the ability too because versatility is one of the main things I strive for.

But really, any voice is fun because it's voice acting! It's all fun! ^_^

I rather enjoy talking like Carlito Cool, Liquid Snake, Master Miller and Speedy Cerviche from time to time, but I could literally talk like Luigi all day long.

That's not to say I've ever done so. As I haven't. >_>

After listening to myself for a bit, I tend to do the ditz/attention impaired girl pretty well. Girls my age I'm pretty decent at to, but I have a bit of a strange hissy lisp, so childish might be the only thing I can do. ^^ It's fun to lower my voice to something maternal and mother hen-like. I can't do the sultry thing. It's sad. XD

I really like to do young husky boy voices, like Ash from Pokemon or Naruto, mostly because they're so... Honest? XD Also, guys tend to have more grunty/yell-y type things, which are what I really enjoy. ^^

... As long as it's not human, I can probably do a passing imitation. Gollum and Pikachu come to mind, as do cats.

I remember posting in here o.o guess not ^^;;

I love to play little boys like Genis from Tales of Symphonia or Shingo from Sailor Moon.

I also like to play feminine sounding/looking boys like Syaoran from Card Captor Sakura, Bakura from Yu-Gi-Oh, Akira from Hikaru no Go, Kurama from Yu Yu Hakusho, Hao from Shaman King and so on.

Another favorite is annoying-ish high pitched-ish girls. (ex. Dejiko from Di Gi Charat, Arika from Mai Otome)

And I like to play tomboyish (sounding/looking) girls like Rukia from Bleach, Haruka from Sailor Moon, and so on.

And I LOVE Minami Takayama characters as well as Ogata Megumi.

oh and cats and dogs are fun, as well as Jigglypuff, Pikachu, Pichu, and Mew o.o

to add to my list......let me just add Tai Kamiya cuz he's a cool character to do and his hair is big even when he's older. Also he has a distinct voice so, thats a challenge yet its easier to do characters' voices that way when there distinct(well, for me it is)
cuz it gives you a goal or point to get to when the something Distinct about the character's voice

Hmm, favourites...

I guess i don't have any favourites

I like to do old guys i guess {60-70 range}, it hurts my voice a little bit but i know it pays off in the end, and i guess your average hero in things {15-20 range}, and just anything else inbetween apart from really crazy characters with really nuts voices and animals too

I really enjoy the little boy voices. It's so much fun, especially for my low voice, it's easier. I can do Seihara from DNAngel pretty well, and Mokuba from Yugioh, and I like trying Jinta from Bleach too.

I LOVE DOING BOY VOICES. Yes, little boys and like... boys with soft feminine voices like... Yukito or Nanami or Tohma. >.< And I love doing cute characters so much. Shinobu was so fun to voice... cause she's so cute...
But my favorite voice to do is still Tomoyo(CCS) because... ahh I just love making my voice high and cute and saying adorable happy things. *twitch* Uhhhh yeah.
So in conclusion: boys and cute(usually young) girls.

I really like to VA kids. They're fun. ^_^

Marlene ~ Final Fantasy - I like voicing her as she sounds in FF: AC. I can hit her tone easily and almost perfectly mimic the way she talks.

Shippo ~ Inuyasha - I have a hard time getting my voice to sound like a little boy's, but, when I /do/ manage to, I can do his voice well. =)

Rin ~ Inuyasha - "Lord Sesshoumaru!" is just so fun to say. xDDD

Honey-Sempai ~ Ouran High School Host Club - His voice is adorable and, though I'm not the best at it, I love talking in it!! =3

I pretty much like doing any little kid's voice. However, I also like doing certain medium-pitched, tomboyish voices, too, like Haruhi from Ouran High School Host Club.

Hmm, I have three specific types I love voicing

Raspy characters (Keiichi, Sunohara, Axel)- I think cause when I first tried this, it killed my throat a lot, but when I got it down it was fun to do, plus this voice comes to be my most versatile, I can change the tone, and it works with so many characters o_o

Calm, collective characters (Kyon, Jazz, Sebastian)- These voices are what my friend calls "The Squeal Voices", why...I did my Sebastion voice and the next thing I hear on the skype chat is 3 of my female friends squealing to death (really didnt see that coming), plus I enjoy doing smooth lines from time to time, its a nice change of pace.

Eccentric characters (Fukuyama, Grell, Zagi)- when I mean eccentric, it can mean a lotta things, but most common i do are very pervy characters, or just down right "I'm gonna cut off one of yur hands!" crazy, they are just so much to do! XD

Teen boy voices have to be my favorite. Like Tsukasa from .hack//SIGN or something of the like. I am also fond of the raspy boy voices you can find in Black*Star from Soul Eater, and I would love to be cast in a role like that some day.

And I'm not gonna lie, but I also get a kick out of voicing those villainous characters that are prone to psychotic laughter.

Though lately it seems like I'm getting picked for soft-spoken and shy young girls...

Sarifus

Loud characters. LOUD CHARACTERS.

CHARLES FROM CODE GEASS.

Kingdom Hearts ; Saix (Kirk Thornton), Jafar (Jonathan Freeman), Xehanort (Billy Zane), Diz (Christopher Lee). Also Gaston from Beauty and the Beast (Richard White). I'm still waiting for his KH debut.

Legacy of Kain ; Kain (Simon Templeman), Raziel (Michael Bell), Elder God (Tony Jay).

BioShock ; Andrew Ryan (Armin Shimmerman), Sander Cohen (T. Ryder Smith).

Dragon Age Origins ; Sten, Loghain, Oghren

Armstrong eyelashes!

Also never forget Tim Curry.

In terms of original voices, I enjoy doing a deep smooth American businessman voice (I'd use it for someone like David Xanatos or Diethard Reid) and also have an original voice for a Light Yagami-type character that I want to get to use more often ~I never seem to get cast as characters who are actually my age lol~. And then reasonably often I use my normal voice for villains. Because I'm British.

Xaco in Eternal Genesis. - One of the best performances I've ever given as a voice actor. I absolutely had a wonderful time playing him. It really came just natural and was fun the entire time.

Zero Kiryu in Vampire Knight. - My favourite character in any anime. I always love playing these kind of internally conflicted characters who hate themselves. I can really relate to and empathize with him, and he's fucking beautiful. XD He's not the easiest character for me to voice, but I love doing it.

Gauche Suede in Tegami Bachi. - Another one of my favourite anime characters, and possibly my personal favourite performance that I've given as a voice actor. He's such a wonderful character, he's calm and collected, and isn't afraid to handle himself in a hostile situation when he needs to. I love him. :3

Colonel Heirlin Raffaesch. - This is actually a character in my upcoming radioplay that I often practice voicing, and while I haven't "officially played" him yet, I have a fun time voicing him, nonetheless, because he's such a great character. He's tough, confident, comical, amusing, and he's Scottish. XD This is the only character I've ever played thus far where I can use my Scottish accent and that's a huge plus for me. Furthermore, he's partially based on characters played by one of my favourite actors, Kevin McKidd. (Dog Soldiers and Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2).

Overall, my favourite voices to do are medium and low voice characters. Also, characters who are... insane, intelligent, and/or eccentric.

Maybe I'm actually Brad Swaile or Liam O' Brien in disguise.

...Yeah, Brad Swaile.

Funnily enough, I love to play characters who are a complete contrast to myself.
For example, I love playing Shana from Shakugan no SHANA because she is just serious all the time and is pretty much a hardass. I guess it gives me a break from voicing characters who are so similar to me. x3
I love playing characters like Paine from Final Fantasy X-2, also. The somewhat monotone characters.

Mostly Star Wars voices.
Obi-Wan, Threepio, CW Anakin, Clones/Fett Bounty Hunters, Jar Jar, Cad Bane, Wookiees, Arfour, Ahsoka, maybe Han, sometimes Yoda, and--of course--Master Cucumber.
I can also do a pretty sweet Pikachu and some Mario characters like Toad and Peach.

Who are my favourite characters to do... I have a top 10.

1: Sephiroth, Final Fantasy VII. My rendition is an original take, a two way cross between the original Japanese Actor and Sir Christopher Lee. Sephiroth is incredibly well developed, his character, his back-story, his style and movement, all of it. One of the finest Villains ever made... literally.

2: Optimus Prime, Transformers. I think I'm getting better with my Peter Cullen impression. Come on, Optimus is awesome. He's what a leader is meant to be!

3: Adelbert Steiner. Oh he is so much fun to do, a very righteous, but arrogant character, but he develops well during the game. A two way cross between Samuel E. Wright (Sebastian from the little mermaid) and John-Rhys Davies (Gimli... enough said.)

4: Ganondorf, The Legend of Zelda. Now this man is a unique villain indeed, one of the few who actually reached his goal at one stage. Though he did end up being thwarted, he achieved what he wanted. Voice: I made it PSYCHO deep without digital alteration.

5: Magus, Chrono Trigger. Though I haven't had much of a chance to voice him, I like the way he develops; from a VERY nasty villain, to a very well liked anti-hero. A two way cross between Johnny Depp and Ralph Fiennes.

6: Amarant Coral, Final Fantasy IX. I love this Anti-hero, he is so honourable at heart. A cold guy, but he still deserves respect. Christian Bale's Batman and Chris Sabat's Piccolo helped out a lot.

7: A voice I gave to a character from Final Fantasy VIII, the Master Fisherman. I based his voice on my great-grandmother (I remember her voice very well) and I love pulling it off. I really want to use it somewhere besides FFVIII.

8: Seifer Almasy, Final Fantasy VIII. This guy is interesting, the way he moves through the game. I can't help but have fun when I voice him. My Older brother was the influence, and I gave him a broad Australian accent.

9: Patrick the Starfish, Spongebob Squarepants. Arguably one of my favourite voices to do! Bill Fagerkakke must have so much fun with him, because I have fun with using that voice

10:A two-way tie between Dr Claw, Inspector Gadget and Squidward Tentacles, Spongebob Squarepants. Dr. Claw's voice is a hard one to keep up, but it's so evil and it qorks on so many levels. Squidward... it's his dryness that I love so much, as well as the timbre itself... I'm going to use it more in my dubs.

There are quite a few others, but those are the "off the to of my head" favourites.

Well, I love playing Rukia Kuchiki, because she's so different from me (she's so damn serious!). But I usually love playing upbeat characters, mostly little girls.

I love doing voices in my medium range. Specifically:

David Romero (McTricky's Eternal Genesis)/Harry Osborn (TriPredRavage's Spider-Man Radioplay) - I put them together because I use the same voice for them both and they both have very similar personalities. There's really not much background to the voice, it's just my medium voice. It just came to me in the process of searching for new voices. It's my normal voice, taken up an octave or so, with a very slight rasp (which actually occurs naturally in that range for me).

Tsutomu Haijima (A Night Comes!: Square of the Moon) - This is a character I play in later episodes of this radioplay series. My episodes haven't been released yet, but I'm really hoping they do. The voice I use in this is one of the most simple yet unique I use. It's basically just like David and Harry, but very sadistic and kind of insane. He sees himself as the shit, nobody's better than him (in his eyes). He's also a rock star, which is awesome, and he has magic powers that he uses for anything but good. The fight scenes with him were totally a blast to record.

Now other ranges:

Iroh (Avatar: The Last Airbender) - This is one of the professional gigs I did. No, not the official voice of the character, I did an imitation for some audio birthday cards. Kind of stupid but still fun. I used a raspy and tired sounding voice sort of between the David range and my normal range. There were very few lines (the client used my audition lines for the final project) but I always love an excuse to go into a real studio.

Bowser - It's a stupid voice and it sounds pretty crappy, but dammit I love doing it. It rips my vocal cords apart every time, but I always find it amusing. It's a very rough voice, like gargling with gravel while recording lol.

Ray Romano - I consider this my best impression. I try to do as many as I can, but this is my baby. I'm constantly looking for a way to use it in voice acting, but haven't found one yet. I'm completely serious when I say it's a great impression. I don't say that lightly and I hate to brag, but I use it a lot in everyday life and everyone who hears it knows who it is and thinks it's uncanny. It's not perfect mind you, it kind of breaks apart in the upper range, but that's improving.

If you know me, you're probably confused as to why I didn't put any low voices in there, since they're what most people know me for. Well, it's because they're kind of dull. I enjoy them, don't get me wrong, but I just love the higher ones so much more.

Tetsuya94
04-19-2010, 06:25 PM
Shinjiro Aragaki - I can do a more "chain smoker" version of Grant George's voice. Still fits, and it is fun to use XD

Beast Boy - I can do a semi-good voice for him, and it is fun just to quote BB's lines for friends and stuff

Sunohara - Constantly screaming and the like, who can't have fun with this voice? XD

Kawser Terra (Eternal Genesis): This was just such a fun voice for me and I have developed that voice enough that I really would love to play this character again. Silent types are always fun to voice act, and playing silent types while they are in a battle is twice as fun as well. Truly, just a magnificent character.

Masaomi Kida (Durarara!!): Currently having voiced two clips, I had a lot of fun with the light, yet dorky personality, and it felt more true to my actual voice level, which is always a plus. Plus, this series is so much god damn fun.

Zephyr (Resonance of Fate): Another fun character, simply put. I can also agree with the boy because of his past and, well, he likes guns. I like guns. Oh boy, I can already feel the relationship. Haha, but he's a light, yet deeply depressed character whom I have a lot of fun re-enacting. Battle screams, as I said before, are also a plus.

Villainous voices make up most of my top favorites. They're just so much fun to do. Whether it be a monstrous, bellowing lord of darkness, a sinister, eccentric mad scientist, or a foul-mouthed, insane, I-don't-give-a-damn-'bout-my-bad-reputation punk. I think they're so much fun for me because they're basically the complete opposite of my actual personality.

Besides the villain stuff, I also have a lot of fun with elegant or eccentric heroes and goofy supporting characters who are secretly badass. Good examples of those two would be Death the Kid and Kaien Cross.

Ooh a favorite voices section! Awesome<3

Alphonse Elric: For some reason, this is one of the easiest voices for me to do! Plus, it's so simple and innocent that it's quickly becoming one of my favorites. Also, I love adding the metallic effect so that I sound like I'm talking from inside armor. :3

Himeno Awayuki: This is one of the voices I do that is the most enjoyable! She has so much energy and doing her voice does take some work but it's so much fun! <3 I often end up with a headache after wards but her lines are always so energetic and I'm always punching my fist in the air or moving around when I do her voice.

Genis Sage/Yahiko Myojiin/Edward Elric: Any of those types of voices that are scratchy/raspy/young. I'm really good at them and in fact, that was the first voice I did here on the VAA! (if anyone remembers Wataru from the Brave Story clip?)

Kenshin Himura: To me, Kenshin's voice is a challenge since it is a manly voice. I am able to hit certain lows but sometimes, his voice is hard for me. That's why I like to do it. I love giving myself challenges and whenever I hit that low, I feel so accomplished! <3

I'm pretty sure there's more, I just can't think of them now. xD

Do I need to say it? I. LOVE. PLAYING. VILLAINS. They just make my heart sing. Here is a few of my favorites:

Knight Phantom (Steam Detectives) - What do you get when you mix a crime mastermind, some steam, and......Batman? You get the insane and vengance-filled Knight Phantom. He is Batman if Bruce Wayne turned to killing people to get his vengance. I love to use my deep but not gruff voice for him, simlar to Kevin Conroy with my own dark twist.

Ganondorf Dragmire (Legend of Zelda) - Who doesn't know about the wrathful Ganon?! Cold, Ruthless, and filled hate of all things good. I. LOVE. HIM. XD For him, I use a combination of deep and smooth to catch his dark nature.

Yammy Rialgo (Bleach) - He is a gruff and rude blunt person that is a hotheaded idiot....but, for some reason, is really fun to play. XD He uses my gruff and deep tough guy voice, one of my easy voices.

Hmmm, an array of heroes, psycho, sadistic, hyper, or over dramatic characters, for example~

Youhei Sunohara from Clannad, I L.O.V.E this character so much, he is just an amazing character to voice, he's hyper, dramatic, pervy, goofish, and serious when it's called for, sounds like me in a nutshell.

Detective Adachi from Persona 4, Nothing screams completely out of his mind like Adachi, and I love voicing him when I get the chance.

Battler Ushiromiya from Umineko No Naku Koro Ni, Battler is certainly a unique hero to try and voice, he's an array of cocky, serious, pervy, humourous, and suave, truly a character worth trying to pull off.

Luke Fon Fabre - Tales Of The Abyss: His personality is similar to mine so I love voicing Luke.

Tomoya Okazaki - Clannad: Being a calm badass delinquent is pretty fun. Although my voice is not quite there yet, a lot of people have said they liked my Tomoya so I keep doing

Yosuke Hanamura - Persona 4: Being a wimpy yet badass Persona user is fun. Plus I like to complain a lot and Yosuke seems to love to do that too.

Asch The Bloody - Tales Of The Abyss: Asch is one of the more badass characters I voice. I like voicing him simply because I get to practice yelling a lot.

Teddie - Persona 4: Teddie is fun bcause I get to go up in my higher ranges. Not only that but I like cracking all of his bear jokes.

Sunohara Youhei - Clannad: Sunohara is really fun to voice because he spazzes a lot. And I like to play insane characters like him

Cartoons: Homer and Grandpa Simpson, Karl, Kirk Van Houten, Cleveland and C. Montgomery Burns are a lot of fun. Wish I knew more Anime.

Real People: David Spade, Sean Connery are the most "party" friendly voices (meaning, you can imitate them and it gets laughs).

Akagi {Daiguard} - The Heroic yet dimwitted Hero, usually pretty reckless with things, a good fast-paced talker sometimes
Iwata {Excel Saga} - Certainly a fast-high voice at times
Fatman {Spriggan} - Low/Deep Voice, total Bad-Ass though
Mihai {DOGS} - Back to my Old Man ways ^^
Ocelot {Metal Gear} - Only voiced him once I think way-back when, certainly one of my favorites characters ever
Kaneda {Akira} - 'Cause he's Kaneda xD
Togusa {Ghost in the Shell} - Not the toughest of Section 9, but still a cool guy to voice, usually composed

oh and George Agdgdgwngo from FoneJacker lol

I would say that Barret from Final Fantasy VII is one of my favorite voices to do. I think he's pretty badass and he looks a lot like Mr. T with a gun in his arm. That's why I use Mr. T as my inspiration for the voice of Barret. I think a deep, rough, loud voice would fit him perfectly, unlike Beau Billingslea's version, which I'm not that pleased with. xD

I like to play young characters with higher voices. I have played Roxas from Kingdom Hearts in a clip dub and an abridged series (which is put on hold for a while) before and I think he is fun to voice. I also played Ven in a commercial fandub, which I used the same voice that I used for Roxas. I also enjoy playing little kids in a few fandubs (specifically in One-Winged-Chaos's Final Fantasy IX fandub). I still want to play more young characters as I really enjoyed playing them alot.

I never played a young character with a lot of energy before, but I really enjoyed doing energetic voices in my demo reels.

Oh joy!
Let's see,

Ren Höek [The Ren and Stimpy Show] -
I do love Ren and Stimpy very much, though I never saw myself as a good Billy West. Though me (and my sister who is 24, oddly enough) can do a pretty good Ren (The John Kricfalusi Ren, not Billy West's) impression. I also love his character, because who doesn't love a psychotic chihuahua with an accent?

Yoru [Shugo Chara!] -
Above all, Yoru is one of the most fun for me to voice. As he is childish and high pitched, and because I have a range of voices, I can do his voice fortunately.

Monkey D. Luffy [One Piece] -
Though I would NEVER do a long term dub for One Piece, (How many episodes now?) I love sometimes to just randomly pop in my Funimation Box set, turn down the volume and do Luffy's voice. I've been caught busting out into a "Gum Gum" command more than once.

Seargent Keroro [SGT.Frog/Keroro Gunsou/Japanese version only] -
I don't see myself much as the english voice, but I do enjoy throwing in a 'Kero' in the style of Kumiko Watanabe every now and again.

I'll post more if I can think of them..

The Almighty Protoss Zealot of the StarCraft Lore

YouTube- Starcraft Zealot Voice Acting

-----

Wanna know why?

Zealots are lower-ranked Templar who have yet to reach the upper levels of the Khala. Each zealot is trained for decades in hand-to-hand combat, tactics, pain tolerance and martial discipline. Zealots are taught to hate their enemies with a white hot passion and to hunt them down without mercy. Through the path of the Khala, zealots learn to hone their innate battle rage to a fine edge, though they can invoke a near-berserker rage when in battle if need be.

AND

They're so badass! MY LIFE FOR AIUR!!!!

I love doing cute voices, so I really like doing Seira from Mermaid Melody, people say I'm pretty good at it. Also Pudding from Tokyo Mew Mew. and Yaya from Shugo Chara. I like others too but those are my fave. I've only been casted as Seira before though.

Young Boy voices are pretty fun to do; mainly because they are easy for me.

"Smoking Grandma" voices are fun to play as well. I love being that relative who smokes a substantial amount and flick the ashes around the house when they visit.

Bossy, evil or villainous voices/characters are also enjoyable to play. The sounds that comes from the throat reeks of sinister plots and eeeeeevil!

Those are my top three favorites, but it's kinda hard to choose for me. I love all the voices in my head -- throat...

My favorite voices of Tommy Lee Jones, Clancy Brown, Lance Henrickson, that i can to do. I was always fascinated by the fact that there is a whole world of voice actors, people who specialize in voice acting only... such people are vastly unappreciated. Acting is 80% in the voice.

Few more to add on

British voices- anything from the snobs, to the creepers, or to even the butlers, I love dishing out the accent.
Soft spoken- Or noteably called, The Bishounen, it's a nice change of pace from most of the energetic characters I voice

I love doing the bratty, medium-high voices with edge. They're so much fun. <3
