Here you will find info on building a homemade pop screen for about half the price of buying one. I am about to make one right now, and from what I've heard, it works just as good as one that was bought. Anyway, I thought I would pass this along to you guys, maybe people could use it.

That is a great tutorial. I'll have to make a pop screen myself as that's one of the problems I have while recording.

Thank you for posting the link to it. :D

I just finished mine, and I'll see if I can post some pictures soon. (Thanks for moving the topic btw)

Much better and classier than the butchered MacGuyver version I made with cheese-cloth and a coathanger.

lol...the one I made is so ghetto and it didn't cost me a cent! I used cardboard, popsicle sticks (to reinforce the cardboard), duct tape, pantyhose (2 layers) and aluminum wire that was lying around. ^__^

I did this same techinque on my headphones with my old sockings and i find that it really helped. My producer for one of the projects that I'm doing told me about it, I've been doing it ever since.

Keep in mind guys that there are more ways in which you can eliminate popping...

For hard sounds like the Bs and Ps and Ts, slightly turn your head away from the mic as you say that... Do this while keeping 6 inches distance from the mic.

I made mine with a stuffed butterfly that's wings were made with nylon. I eh killed him and used the wire and nylon from his wings for a screen. I'll see this tut to make a new one

I know another great trick that doesn't cost a cent. Just a take a thin bed sheet, and put it over your head, and then record like that. It really works, I do that when I sing now.

My husband made one for me out of a similar technique, but all we had was coat hangers, so we used that. It looks funny, because I used striped stockings, lol, but it's pretty good. The only problem I have is that it sometimes rubs against the mic. It definately cleared up my sounds quite a bit though.

A brilliant link - cheers. ^_^
It was really easy to make & seems to work fine, too.

i just use a kitchen sieve. I can use it for spaghetti after I'm finished.

Killed 2 birds with one sieve?

Lol XD

Too bad popscreens aren't available at my place. And most popscreens are at least $15 which is like RM45 here...

Ah, what a splendid idea! Popping is one of the biggest problems for me since I got my new microphone... ^^;; Thanks for posting this, folks!

I just use a thin shirt. I lightly stretch it out and hold it near my mouth when I record. It works great. :)

I've made a few of the cheap DIY ones and they work perfectly. There's a bunch of tutorials on YouTube. Here's one of them:

Has anybody tried using a metal mesh pop-screen?
And how about using both metal mesh and fabric (you have the fabric screen farther in front of the mesh screen so its closer to the VA, and the metal one closer to the mic).
