The website is up and running (http://www.nanowrimo.org)!
So, what's everyone writing this year? Trying to decide between two works here. One involves a girl brought back to life by black magic and trying not to go insane while saving her family from the forces who find the girl an unnatural abomination. Very straightforward but hopefully compelling.
The other story involves a girl sniper in the ruins of Chicago . . . and she's also an oboist for some reason. :sweat She has to kill a Russian general before he unleashes a biological horror that's best described as a more controllable version of the Ebola virus. However, most of the enemies she faces are Chinese. I do NOT see this story convincing an agent or publisher to pick it up no matter how good it is so I'm reluctant to write it.
I REALLY really want too, I'm going to try but I always fail T__T; I'm so unoriginal.

Well, here's the description/synopsis of the novel I'm going to write. Not happy with it or the working title but I have plenty of time to fix that.
What you are and what you could have been is something that can't change, no matter how badly you want it to.
Alyssa Morgan was an oboe prodigy as a child, playing in concerts as a soloist in orchestras, even making it far in America's Got Talent one year. Now, at sixteen, she prowls the ruins of Chicago on the front lines of a never-ending war the United States brought on itself, as Chinese and Russian forces, despite deep strain and resentment between both countries, have allied to not only knock the United States out of the Pacific Ocean, but have taken the fight deep into American soil.
Separated from her family, and a witness to her pianist boyfriend being killed early in the invasion, Alyssa isn't driven so much by revenge as it is a desire to live on for those she lost. She has become an elite sniper, and between missions, she still plays her oboe, sometimes for others' entertainment, sometimes just for her own peace and sanity, and sometimes just to remember her old life. Her last successful kill has made her a target, just as she is assigned a new mission to kill a Russian general rumored to be preparing a horrific biological virus in an effort to kill all resistance in Chicago. Now a sniper whose skills are considered super-human has begun to hunt her. And she is nothing like Alyssa has ever faced.
Through the twisted corridors and broken skyscrapers, Alyssa must navigate Chicago's metallic maze where one wrong step means breaking glass or kicking a brick and everyone knows your position. This is not a battle of good and evil, or victory and defeat.
It is just for the right to play one more time.

I always wanted to try this and I was going to this year but this new job is taking up all of the time I have, seriously. Good luck to those participating, though.

Every year I am tempted by this. Perhaps this year I will take the plunge and come out with something somewhat presentable. Well that and words. Lots of words.

Trying again this year! And trying not to fail like last year.
Except ... seeing this thread was a reminder that I forgot to finish writing yesterday and to write at all today. So, currently sitting on a grand total of ~100 words where I should be at more than 3000. :I

Oh absolutely nanoing this year. My novel is titled "Villainess"... and just as a teaser...
The body hit the floor with a satisfying thump, sliding a few inches before it rested, rear up in the air, face-down on the unforgiving linoleum that covered the entirety of my workroom. I glanced up from the computer screen and looked at it for a moment, analyzing. Male, about six feet, maybe six two, middle aged, weighing two fifty minimum, and all muscle at that. He was definitely not the typical body that was thrown at me. This one was a prize. I could use a body like this.

Using nanowrimo month as an excuse to revise a screenplay... yet again.

Every year I end up giving up about halfway through, but this year I am dead set on winning! I'm only about 7k behind, which gives me confidence that I'll make it! Praying for everyone participating, because I know how hard this thing is </3

I'm struggling. I'm working two jobs right now and the energy just isn't there when I come home.
