I've had five years of French with the intention of continuing in college this fall and spending a year abroad (probably Junior year). I LOVE the language. ^_^

I know French pretty well, I've been taking it for 8 years.

I had like 30 mins a day of French from grade 1-6. I've been in immersion french for the past two year, 7 to 8, so that means 6 out of my 8 class are in french. But next year since I'm going into high school it changes for some reason to only 3 classes, ya! I have a hard time with science in french so that's why I'm happy. And it's not like I had a choice to go into immersion, I got recommended for it and then my mom made my 'cause she went to french school growing up. But it's good to learn other languages, and fun too! One thing I hate about french is all the verb tenses, they drive me crazy!

This past semester (June), I got an 85 on the French Regents. I guess that says a little something.

I think I can read it better than I speak it, though. I've taken nearly 5 years of French, 2 years in middle school (I learned nothing, for the teacher was a bozo who couldn't teach), and 2 1/2 years in high school (I would have had the full three years, if only they didn't drop me from French Level 5).

Hopefully, I'll be able to show off my skills someday by actually understanding spoken French instantly without having to think about it for a few seconds first! ^^

I used to speak pretty fluently, but after I stopped taking classes in 10th grade, most of it's gone.

It's been a long time since I was fluent, but if you need me to say it or sing it, the accent never dies. I just had a meeting last week with a french national (her last name was Maisonneuve), and she commented on my accent after hearing me say her name correctly (which must have been a treat, since everyone else in my department butchered it). So, that was my proof that I still have the accent, even if I can't remember much of my 8 years of French language study.

Heh. I understand a lot of spoken and written French, but can't really speak it. (Same with German and Spanish... *sigh* Only other language I'm good at speaking is Japanese!) My friends and I used to have multi-lingual conversations, which is where I got some of my French... (Being, one person speaks French, another speaks German, and I would speak Japanese... and we'd converse.) The rest is from my grandmother, who randomly speaks it to me (she's from Quebec...).

Yes, I'm in French 4 and I really don't like it anymore.

The only reason I'm finishing it this year is so I can take French 5/AP French next year and get the AP credit for it.

I've been taking english courses in grade 3 and i'm still taking them now.. english is really hard. o_o; But i have been getting 90+ %s in it. :]
