Shattered Heaven is a novel series that I've started years ago and around 2007 I made an animated series sequel to my third novel. The first novel is going through the final editing stage and will be available for purchase this coming June. Shattered Heaven is a mecha drama series focusing more so on character interactions and their development over time. Though there are good actions scenes as well, can't have a mecha series without good fights!

Feel free to check out the animated series so far!

Synopsis

In the year AR 106, the war between the Trinity Alliance and the Euro-Asain Pact has escalated to its most devastating height. No longer are nations hidden from the truth about their Government's movements and even their motives. The battles have taken to the heavens as space ports and moon bases have become finalized and outfitted with offensive capabilities. In the shadows of the conflict, deep within Mars, near what has been labeled as the South Western Territory a battle rages forth under the noses of many. The EAP have been working to develop a new type of frame that runs solely a new energy source that was recently discovered. Testing pilots and their capabilities and sync ratios to the machine they have come up empty and with no hope in sight they realize their time is drawing near. When an Alliance batallion arrives in the area in search of ways to pass through the South Western Territory they find themselves unveiling the last EAP outpost on Mars. The EAP test pilots have no choice but to try and defend their last home. During the conflict one soldier from the Alliance comes across the EAP project known as Constellation. The last outpost becomes a tragic battlefied where these soldiers put all they have on the line to protect what it is they truly hold dear.

GAHH!! Must listen nao. [Listening]

[After Listening]

^0^ It sounds awesome!

Not too sure on the ending song though. It seemed a little out of place from the entire context of the radio play.. But that's just me! xD

Minor pops and hisses from random VAs (totally understandable), mixing was good (in my opinion), and it was definitely worth the stressful wait :D

[/cheer for awesome cast] ^-^

PS: Music was kick ass too :3

Ah...I always love seeing these come together. My acting has a bit of work to do, as my yelled lines were...less than fierce. '~' Still, I can only get better. ^^ Either way, fantastic job with the mixing and such. Can't wait for the next script.

Woah, that came out much quicker than I thought as I thought this was still in development. A pleasant surprise.

And wow, the production turned out great! I thought the mixing and the acting was awesome! And good storytelling too! I especially liked the glimpses of past history underlying some of the dialogue, be it referring to the mysterious and elusive Azure Knight or the events that have taken place throughout this story's recent & current events. Just listening to the way the characters talk about certain people and about things that happened (or are happening), you really get to catch up on what's going on in this story's universe. I always enjoy this narrative device as opposed to a narrator delving out the material prior to a story or scene. Each has its advantages yes, but listening to the history and current and past events through character interaction is a much better way of keeping the listener involved. At least for me, anyways. :-)

*Edit* I forgot to add -- Loved the cross-dialogue with the mixing. Slick move, I like it.

Oooo and special shout out to Project Trinity for the handling of the AWESOME music! Wootness!

All told, this was a job well done. I will be looking forward to the next episode.

This was very well put together! I have to admit though, my acting could use some work. So I'll be sure to make adjustments.

Also, not to be a pain, but my username is "BeatBlox", and the "L" keeps getting missed. I'm sorry, I had to point that out because it was begining to bother me a bit.

Anyway, everyone performed well here. I look forward to the next script!

Okay, so I've listened to this and it really, really impressed me! Great job everyone!

I couldn't really figure out who played who due to some characters not being called by their names, apart from a select few, but I did recognize some voices. Maybe change the cast list and list the characters in order of when they were heard or something, Adam? Might make it a little easier!

Adam, I did enjoy your performance here, but I think that you do kinda mumble and rush your lines a little bit so it makes it hard to hear you. Your acting is good, but sometimes it was kinda hard to believe what your character was going through. I know that voiceover isn't your forte as you have told me yourself, but I did like you here!
Jake/Murdog, you were excellent as Xander, and I really, really can't wait to hear you in more projects. You definitely have a voice which isn't too similar to anyone else's here on the VAA, and I know that you can switch from being to a young teen to a gruff middle aged man in a heartbeat after being in Skype calls with you, so you have a lot of promise!
mippa was very lovely as always, although I think she sounded a taaaaad too quiet on the message on Xander's phone, so I couldn't hear her sometimes.
Yineth, you were smashing, darling! I loved you! I love your attitude! You actually played yourself in this and I loved it! XD
Karley/Kauritsuo, get a new mic! ;_; It was so hard to hear you! Your acting is lovely, but it sounds like you're holding back a little bit, so just push it out there!

The mixing was great! Although it was hard to hear Adam at the beginning since his voice was a little bit overpowered. There were a few peaking issues and some pops, but they happen to the best of us!

Just finished the episode. You'll have to fogive me. My critque is going to be pretty general. I can only recognize so many of your voices from past projects and what not, and given that the cast isn't listed in order of "appearance", I can't quite tell who is who.

Across the board, I thought the majority of it was excellent. The acting was really strong with only a few dips here and there. Very impressive for a project intended to showcase newer/low activity usuers. There were a few pops and huffs through out. That's the sort of thing you learn how to get around with practice. It's just a matter of learning to control how much air you puff out with those sounds. The point that I felt was the weakest however was when the base came under attack. I think just about everybody's acting took a dip at that point when they were trying to act panicked and surprised. It's one of those things that always seems to be a hurdle for everybody (I know I encountered it when I started out and I still trip over it sometimes to this day). It's a mix of trying to not sound overboard, or not be too loud, or just feeling awkward yelling, that tends to catch people. All I can say to you guys is when you get to that sort of scene again, take a deep breath and just let it loose. It takes some getting used to, but you'll all get the hang of it. It just comes in time.

Seriously, though. Absolutely great work across the board. I'm really looking forward to the next installment, and hearing all of you grow and improve!

I'm sure Adam will make an update about this later, but here's the unofficial list of VA appearances:

-Adam [I'm sorry, but do we really need to know who he is voicing?]

-Merodi [as the AI]

-Aya Shinomoto [as Megan]

-Murdog09 [as Xander]

-mippa [as Ashley]

-Beatblox [as Jason]

-Kiryu-kun [as Travis]

-mochan [as Sharon]

-Marcel Jarvis [as Marcus Falden a.k.a. "Dude with the heavy accent"]

-Yineth [as Alice]

-Monotori [as the Mechanic]

-Benjaminz [as Commander Mason]

-Jazzydj [as Will - Fyi, he's the angry, accuse-y character! :D]

-Arklight [as Kyle]

-Kaurituso [as Stephanie]

-Merodi [as Lust]

-Haruhost [as David - his character has a short conversation with Adam before the end of the episode]

The list was constructed by the appearance of characters in the script. Hopefully this will help the people who are curious ^-^

It just comes in time.

Yeah when I recorded I didn't have a pop filter. I had a windscreen but no pop filter. I've since gotten one (which I love) so my recordings have become better regarding my "P" and "T" pronunciations. Although with this I did notice that my sound on a few lines were way over processed (which is my fault) to compensate for my poor regular audio-technica microphone, so I'm likely going to have to invest in a new mic in the future too. I've got more of a critique on myself but I'll get to that in a bit. Thanks for the tips, by the way.

I'm just happy to be able to be a part of this and work along side of fellow Voice Acting Alliance members beings I've never done it before. Adam, many thanks for the chance to participate. I had alot of fun with it. Will was especially a fun character for me. Though I do think I could've done better now that I hear the final result. But hey, experience is the best teacher, right?

Before I post any type of a critique, I just wanna warn everyone that I can be a bit nitpicky sometimes so I just want to brace you for that before hand.

I don't have much here. After all it is a project for us to learn and get experience. My only real nitpick is from a technical stand point. I noticed some volume spikes on certain lines a few times (one of the times was during the opening monologue), but it wasn't that bad. It was only noticable about 3 or so times and the rest of the track was good, which I liked. (I'm not sure what method you guys use, but I usually hit it with a compressor to even out the track waveform, then EQ, and normalize the volume to a specific db. I'll also adjust the volume of any parts of the waveform manually if I feel it's necessary. ) But like I said, over all the volume was consistent outside of those few small places, and that's something I'm kind of anal about in which I pay close attention to. I appreciate a track with good steady levels.

Now to nitpick myself. Now that I hear the finished production, I think I might have went overboard doing Will. You guys are all dramatic and calm ('anime style" ) and here I am going a little over the top trying to play the upset cocky test pilot LOL. I probably should've toned it down a little bit. I also noticed on one line of mine that the noise reduction filter pretty much destroyed the quality of the recording. That one is on me because these were recording when I was still experimenting in Adobe Audition. I've since cut out a few things from my chain. I also think my performance could have been a bit better towards the end like Tri-Pred suggested with that scene. I was emphasizing the script note for Will to be out of breath, far too much, and didn't get the rest of the line delivered properly. The funny thing is you don't always notice these things during the actual recording until about a month later when you get the bigger picture.

I'm open to take all critiques. No matter how tough. I prefer honesty. It's the only way to get better.

Now for the rest...

-The effect that was used for the AI voice was perfect.
-Murdog, your voice stood out most of all to me. You sound awesome! I would love to hear you in more stuff. I'd also really like the chance to work with you in the future for a few projects.
-Ashley... It's a privilage to be in the same production as Mippa. I gotta admit, I think her voice is great. You're another I hope to have the opportunity hear more of and to work with again.
-I thought Beatbox demonstrated good ability in his performance. He had nice control with his delivery.

This is getting long so I'll try to save the rest for another time. Those were the things that stood out to me initially.

With all things considered I like how it turned out. It's a great concept and good chance to get some experience. I like how Adam presented an opportunity for VAA Newbs like my self. Much appreciated Adam. ;)

I hope we can do another one sometime in the future.

I hope we can do another one sometime in the future.

Considering I'm sending out 2 new scripts this week and this miniseries is approx. 8-10 episodes in length, I'd say that's a pretty good chance. XD

I'm going to go by character name, since It was easier for my to keep track like that when they were interacting. Sorry if that's annoying to anyone!

Adam Novus was very natural sounded, and pulled off his long monologues exteremely well. There were a few acting and enunciation sore spots, but other spots made up for it. You would sometimes, however, drone out into mumbles or sigh too much. Megan's voice really annoyed me, I almost turned it off a few times to be 100% honest. They spoke all in there nose, and it sounded very clogged up and far more nasally than it should be and it seemed to mess up some of their enunciation, and some deliveries seemed pretty stale. It sounded like a character that may work well in a childrens show, but seemed out of place here to me. Xander Belellus had a great tone throughout the thing, very natural and strong sounding. Defintely a voice I'll be keeping my eye out for more! Ashley Belellius sounded just as natural as her brother, and her acting was spot on! Jason Strife sounded pretty good as well, some great delievery's. Some ennunciation was slippery though and not as solid as my tastes would have enjoyed at some times. Travis Sander's voice was strong, and I enjoyed it. Sharon Amare slipped about on her enunciation as well, and some of her words seemed like they were just awkwardly spit out. I couldn't understnad what was being said by Marcus Falden very well at all, minus the 'fuck' that was every other word. Both Alice and the Mechanic interacted well with one another and sounded realistic. Alice sounded extremely pissed XD I loved it. She underplayed some parts though which I figured would have been built up more. Mason was great sounding, very superiour sounding! Will had a lot of static and hiss behind his lines, but otherwise he sounded good. Same with Kyle, he had a great youthful tone I really enjoyed! One of those two had some puffs they have to watch out for though. Stephanie sounded adorable! Lust had a really sultry tone, I enjoyed it and wanted some more! the AI was perfect too! David Lepidus had a great tone and delievery as well.
Sorry I'm such an enunciation stickler =/

Overall, fantastic job done by everyone~ The mixing was goddamn amazing Adam! And the story was fabulous as well! The music was really great as well! I can't wait for more!

Your music is pretty awesome. I felt bad that Act 4 is taking so long with me being so busy. But that'll be out next week XD. Trying to balance a lot of projects is a bitch but yeah. So I figured I might as well start including the music you and Koshi have been developing for me. It's a lot easier to figure out exactly what would be needed by doing it this way. There will be more shameless plugging of your work soon enough.

@Bree - Thanks! I appreciate the comments. I was very, very tired when I recorded a lot of my lines. They were done at the last minute, after midnight, and I was so groggy and yeah, haha. Once again, a great job by the cast!

And likewise with the mixing, effects, and music! All top notch, as usual.

By the way, Adam, did you cut a scene from this one? I thought we were to hear some of your characters from your other media of your series. I could have sworn there was the Russian and perhaps one or two others.

Yeah. I'm missing lines, and I don't know when I'd get them. So instead of holding it back another month or so I released it now. The scene was an extra and if/when I get the lines, I'll release it as an extra or add it to the third episode as its opening.

Aaah, I see. I thought I was missing something. Well that explains that.

By the way, who are the characters in this episode's little portrait?

My guess is Yineth and Kauritsuo... erm... I mean, Alice and Stephanie. I...<sighs>... I get so confused sometimes... their performances brought so much life that I must remember to differentiate the voice actresses from their characters. It can be difficult when our actors and actresses are on like that. http://voiceactingalliance.com/board/images/icons/icon6.png

Lol, yeah, it's Alice and Stephanie for the "cover" for the 2nd episode.

Is this going anywhere anymore? I can try and help if I'm needed.

What do you mean?

Unless you can fill in for the people who owe me lines and that I'm waiting on, then no, I don't think there's much else you can do.

I added a preview to the 3rd episode with the opening scene for the episode. A better quality version of it will be in the actual episode. Aiming to have the full episode out within a week and a half.

Released episode 3 after a good amount of time.

Producer's note: 90% of this was mixed like 5 months ago. I was still getting used to mixing mecha battles, it's not near the level of my current mixing quality as seen in the novel clips. I opted to just get this out for the sake of moving on with the production. I will possibly release an updated version when the entire series is over. Also my acting/mic quality, this was during a time when I was having trouble finding places to record, so I recorded in my car....so the acting was off, I back A LOT of emotion due to where I was recording and the really shitty location. Again, I was going to rerecord, but my life's gotten pretty hectic right now so I just said "fuck it" and chose to release it as it was so I can move onto working on Episode 4 and finish telling this story.

That being said, I hope you enjoy the much delayed Episode 3.

It's here! It's here! It's fina-luly here! H*R reference aside, you have no idea how excited I am to finally see this released. I'll be giving this a full listen very soon.

Lol yeah. The remaining episodes should come quick. Still a lot going on but provided people turn in lines it should be pretty fast.
