Hey, I was just throwing this idea around in my mind, and actually wrote some of it down in a notepad document, so I have to ask; has there every been a VAA Awards-type thing here? Something like the Oscars or Golden Globes? I think it could be a good way to raise activity and give some of the really good productions and voice actors around here the notice they deserve. If anyone thinks it's a decent idea, tell me so I can give you guys what I have so far. If not, well, it was worth a shot.

So, thoughts?

It happened before. It all ended in tears...that was a bit of an exaggeration, but people usually end up arguing over something.

This idea has been shot down like three times already since you've been here. I'm surprised you haven't noticed.

So, no. Bad idea.

Why yes, yes there has http://voiceactingalliance.com/board/showthread.php?t=24032

Actually, in all seriousness no. This comes up at least twice a year and the answer has always been no because most people on the forum just can't handle that type of thing. I believe one of our Admin was working with the idea though, so something may happen someday.

The idea actually comes up often to discussion on this forum, but more often then not, the consensus is that an award show would cause a rift within the forum, mostly amongst those who didn't feel that a person should win, or felt that they should have won over someone else. In the end, it never really works out that well. We had an award system for a few days when this site changed forum designs, and...well...it didn't work out. Your intentions are quite admiral though. I would say that if you wanted to find a way to give productions more exposure, take some time to leave a comment or a critique on someones productions, as people tend to get drawn to threads that way.

I see this less as an opportunity for people to show how wonderful they themselves are, but rather, as an opportunity to thank everyone who has been in such productions for doing such a great job and giving us a good show. These awards shouldn't be about pride; they should be about thanking - actors thanking their directors, production teams thanking their viewers/listeners, etc. I have an organized way of doing this if given the chance; all I'd need is a co-producer and a host.

Sorry, this isn't going to happen for various reasons people have mentioned and not yet mentioned.

So I'm going to have to close this :<
