Hope it's okay to put this here!
I was wondering if anyone'd be interested in a thread for makeup tutorials. A reason is because makeup is very important to cosplay, and makeup varies a lot for each kind of character - it's not just one style for boy characters and one type for girls! In fact, many cosplayers have to redo makeup for each character that they do, or plan their cosplay throughout the day so that they have to do as little makeup changes as possible.
There are many factors to making yourself look like the character from a facial POV, from using the right contact lenses to using eyeliner efficiently to drawing your own eyebrows.
Many times, when people think a photo is the result of photoshop, it is actually the work of carefully applied makeup!
Of course if there's interest, I'd love if if the other (probably more experienced than I) cosplayers on this board would contribute their own tips as well!
But yeah! If anyone's interested, please reply with:
- If interested
- Type of tutorial you want to see the most
- If you'd be interested in contributing
Hope this thread becomes helpful!

Sure, it's one of those important life skills! ~_~ Blah, I wouldn't know where to start with that.
(I hope that didn't come off as snark)
I think that's a great idea! I have some of my own make tricks and tips, but I'd love to hear some others, specifically ones related to Crossplay! I don't have too much to contribute, but I can put in my two cents ^^

I can haz......lyke nao.
fail
I don't even wear make up when it's just normal old me so special makeup tutorials would be lovely.
Hmmmm as for what type of tutorials I'd have to say basically eyebrow coloring. What do you use, where might you get it, anything special you might need to apply before putting on the eyebrow makeup, how to make it seem more natural. I guess things like that. Cause that would be really helpful.
->mmp is a complete nooB when it comes to makeup<-

Eyebrow coloring tutorials would be helpful. For my Ranka cosplay, I forgot- it was the last minute and I grabbed green eyeshadow and brushed it on, then applied clear lip gloss over it, before adding more.
It stayed for half of the day, then failed, ORZ.
So I'd like to see how you're MEANT to color your eyebrows, so that I don't have to do what I did again XDD
I'll try and contribute what I can~ I'm pretty good at applying fake blood typed makeup, and I'm pretty good at normal makeup too, seeing as I'm a girly girl in real life that never leaves the house without makeup. Nothing too drastic mind, foundation, eye liner and mascara, maybe lipgloss and that's it. But I used to wear really colorful eyeshadows and everything XD
Oh, another last minute thing that I've done, that I don't recommend: Food coloring as fake blood. It looks realistic as hell, but it stains the skin, is probably poisonous and takes days to come off!

Ok, agreeing with the eyebrow / eye makeup thing. I have amazingly pale eyebrows and eyelashes so, as you can guess, cosplaying certain characters is such a pain, especially since most of the ones I want to cosplay have quite dark brows / lashes.

Fake eyelash glue works for it as a base, but you need to make sure that the glue doesn't clump up your eyeshadow. =)
Told you on MSN - I'd be up for contributing wherever tips I can. :3

So firstly would be an eyebrow tutorial, then? Will be getting that up when I can take pics step by step~ I'll cover colored brows, and then shaping brows without having to trim/shave your normal ones.

I think a tutorial to make your eyes look bigger, especially for an 'anime girl' look. :)
The first thing you wanna do is make sure you are explaining how to prep yourself for the make up, priming and moisturizing for example, I'm sure you know that but just a reminder.
Also, you should also point out that these steps are from a woman. It'll be a little different for men...especially if they have dark facial hair like I do.

Thank you for pointing that out, Kei~ I guess I assumed everyone knew how to prep, orz.
And Kei definitely brings a great point - another reason why I feel like it'd be awesome if other people would post their own tutorials as well is because these differ from male to female, as well as even within genders. For example, my eye shape is different from say, Michy's, whose is different from Chinomi's.
I have an eyebrow tutorial on the way, using Allen Walker, so that will be white eyebrows on dark hair (though it works for lighter eyebrows, too, obviously)

thank you kitsune for the tutorial for the eyebrow. Sadly I won't be doing the whole contact thing but the eyebrows will be lovely.

I totally agree. I wouldn't mind throwing in a tutorial for your collection.
