View Full Version : Question for June 28 - July 4, 2010

I just saw Toy Story 3 today so while I had another question in mind, it gave me the idea for another one instead.
Everyone here has at least a little hint of a dream to one day work professionally in the voice acting world. Some already do. But everyone's dreams and goals are different. So the question of the week is...
If you could work for any professional company or studio, what one would it be? That ONE company where you could say you have finally reached your dream goal and could one day die happy from getting the chance.

Simply put, Disney/Pixar. I'd love to work with them someday.

Disney is king out of every other company, so i'd like to work for them at some point, when I get that chance.

There are two. In the commercial world, I would give my left arm to do Shoe Carnival spots, because I've worked there and know how the place works, and because a majority of the spots were TERRIBLE and didn't accurately reflect the store brand.
The second one I'd love to work for is 4-Kids Productions, because of the simple fact that 99% of anime fans think they suck. And me being the outspoken person I am, my dream is to 1) make damn sure the director knew what he was doing and 2) openly criticize anyone who said the productions I was in sucked.

I hate to agree with Ryusuke and Ovarku, I'd love to work for Disney/Pixar. As much as I love anime, nothing can top the wonderful masterpieces of the Disney films. Every movie has phenonomal voice acting and everyone conveys the right emotion. Plus, they have a lot of beautiful singers. I'd love to work with the amazing VAs of Disney/Pixar (Jodi Benson ^_^) in any film that they will produce in the future.
Just a dream though.

Honestly it wouldn't matter as much to me. Just to have the feeling of being in the booth doing what I'd enjoy the most would be fine enough for me.

Honestly, if I could work with Marvel Studios on anything, I would definitely call my life complete. Even if I'm not one of the superheroes, but Faceless Soldier A, I think that will have done it for me.

I would love to be in Funimation, or in a Studio Ghibli movie. Both are amazing companies.

Funimation, Disney/Pixar and Dreamworks, they're bringing out some good movies lately. What sucks though is the rise in already celebrities or people related to celebrities getting the VA roles so that sucks.

Pixar sounds like a solid career investment.

I would like to VA for Disney/Pixar and Dreamworks. I'm impressed by most of the work they do. =)
I'd also like to VA for some of Valve's games. They make some neat games. =D

The Disney dubs of studio Ghibli stuff.

Wow, for as much fan-dubbing as we have around here, I'm actually kinda shocked there are so many Disney/Pixar replies. I really anticipated to hear more dubbing studios.
For me, I don't have a dream studio as much as I have a dream job. I don't care what studio is would be with, but I would love to be the voice of a main cartoon character. Be it a Nicktoon, Toon Disney, or other. A movie would be great, but a TV show would be more long term.
I suppose I would really like it to be Disney, I'm a Disney freak. Everyone knows that :-p BUT I'm honestly not picky.

I...don't really honestly want a professional job with this, even if it were plausible with my career path. Imagine, having to roll on into the studio every day for recordings while on a MD's schedule? Eargh! x_x
I don't want to make a living off this; rather, I want to be a skilled amateur VA who will do all sorts of projects for free, for people who have great ideas but not great tons of money to produce it with. And yet, if something comes up, I can step away from the mic at any time without detriment to my livelihood.
As for what studio I'd want to do AS an amateur VA if given the option? Erg. Uh...golly, I don't know. For me it would depend more on the project rather than the studio for preferences.
And this post still really doesn't answer the question huh? Well okay, I'll try -- Pixar sounds cool, they make such consistently awesome films. And Disney, they're getting better now too. And ADV sounds cool, their dubs tend to be pretty good, but Funimation I might get access to more mainstream anime (as far as I know that's the trend?)

I'd say either disney/pixar (including studio ghibli dubbing) or a studio that does lots of original animated series like nickelodeon, 4kids, or cartoon network.

Though I can't really decide on a specific one, I'd love to do voice over for a gaming company, solely because I'd love to be the original and defining voice for a popular character in a series. I'd love to be the David Hayter to Solid Snake or Jon DiMaggion to Marcus Fenix. That voice everyone loves to hear and always shows up in one way or another :P

Finally! I'm shocked it took this long to have someone drop Square Enix into the topic.

I thought the same too.
And to elaborate further on my answer actually, I would work for any respected studio, as long as I do the one thing I want and that is to do this as one of my things to earn a living...it's just you can't get any higher than Disney. There are more ways I can elaborate by splitting each studio/company and what they do mainly, but I just want to keep it simple with one place.
Posting my answer again was not my intention here :sweat

That's a tougie, working at Disney\Pixar would be awesome, but as for the anime thing, I'd go with Bones since they are my favorite studio pretty much. Still I don't care that much, I just want to have fun with it :)

I have no desire to be a voice actor but Funimation is where it's at. (Though I wish it weren't in Texas.)

Might as well expand on mine, too. Like Ovarku, I'd pretty much like to work with any respected studio, just Disney and Pixar are just way up there. Playing a main character in a Square Enix or an original IP would be awesome.

Ocean Studios, Disney/Pixar, Dreamworks... but if anything Ocean Studios. Working alongside Brad Swaile, Matt Hill & Richard Cox is a dream of mine, even if I only salvage a lowly extra~ <3

I've always wanted to voice for Nickelodeon or Cartoon Network. ;_; I'm not sure which companies individually I'd like to work for as far as American cartoons, though.
For anime, Funimation or Bang Zoom, definitely.

I'd probably want to work at NYAV Post, Disney, or Studiopolis. FUNi doesn't pay enough (though I wouldn't be adverse to them dubbing a production based off of my work, if I ever write something that popular), so I don't really want to work for them. The first three seem to get a decent amount of work in pre-lay, and NYAV and Studiopolis also do a lot of dubbing work.

As everyone's already mentioned, working in Disney/Pixar and Dreamworks movies would be pretty awesome.
Though I'd love to voice for a NIS game. 8D
