Catherine has lived in the shadow of her father, Robert: a once brilliant and much admired mathematician. She had her own budding career in mathematics waiting for her, but once Robert fell ill with a mental instability, she sacrificed her studies in order to care for him. And now, following his untimely death, she is left to deal with her own volatile emotions; the arrival of her estranged, cosmopolitan sister, Claire; and the attentions of Hal, a former student of Robert's who hopes to find valuable work in the 103 notebooks that Robert left behind. Over the long weekend that follows, a burgeoning romance, a forced decision to move on, and the discovery of a mysterious notebook draw Catherine into the most difficult problem of all: How much of her father’s madness – or genius – will she inherit?
“Proof” premiered at the Manhattan Theatre Club in New York City on May 23, 2000. It was subsequently produced on Broadway at the Walter Kerr Theatre on October 24, 2000. “Proof” met great reception and won numerous awards including 2001 Tony Award for Best Play. Mary-Louise Parker also won a Tony for her performance as Catherine. “Proof” was later adapted into a film starring Gwyneth Paltrow, Jake Gyllenhaal, Anthony Hopkins, and Hope Davis as Catherine, Hal, Robert, and Claire respectively. It’s a popular choice among high school and college theatre companies to perform.
I had the pleasure of working on set design, lighting, and prop management for this play in college. I had hoped to make an audio drama adaptation of it, and finally getting my hands on a copy of the script and a little encouragement from some close friends, it became possible. Enjoy.^^

Yay! I'm totally listening to this while I should be studying for my finals later this afternoon.
The opening song was pretty and set up the mood quite well ^_^ I don't know much about music, but it sounded nice. There was one moment when there was a weird sort of audio twitch, but I'm sure that can be fixed easily.
I liked the relationship played out between Catherine and Robert. It started off as really warm and realistic, but slowly declined into a sort of creepy, crazy situation, especially when Robert reminds her that he's dead. That part was awesome XD
verias's voice is very warm and soothing to listen to. Perfect narrator for a book on tape :P There were some bits of dialogue that were slurred together, though.
LightningBolt sounds clear and natural, and I like the personality she brings from the character.
Cettoto is adorable as Hal, haha. As soon as he came in, I laughed. "It's called 'i'!" XD
"It doesn't matter."
"Fuck you! How old are you?"
Haha. I've always loved that part.
"And I think that sounds paranoid!" Oh man I loved the delivery on that line.
"A notebook?"
"Oh shit."
HAHA.
JC I can recognize your voice as the cop on the phone XDD
Ah this was great! Everyone worked well together to set up this first scene ^_^ I liked how it all played out, dramatically, and the editing was pretty awesome. Nice pauses where there should've been, sometimes awkward but fittingly placed, and the placement of sound effects helps to visualize the scene and what's happening.
Great job everyone! Can't wait to work with you all on the next part ^__^

Thanks for the kind words! Also, the "slurring" is kind of a result of lots of talking, the trying not to salivate on my mic XD. It's hard to make it sound conversational, and make it also sound well annunciated. Either way, can't wait to work on the next Unit and whatnot (Assuming I show up via a flashback or two).
JCT: Awesome final mix. I love hearing how it all came together.
LightningBolt: It sounds a whole lot better knowing who I'm talking to now. I felt kind of off in left field at times during recording, and wound up throwing in a handful of takes on each line, trying different things.
Cettoto: Your Hal is amazing, I'm glad you got it. Your first line cracks me up so hard.
"Oh God!"

I'd like to repeat what's been said already by expressing how awesome this final mixdown sounds! JCTrance19, your opening song fits perfectly because it has that creepy unsettling feel to it.
To the rest of the cast, you guys sounded amazing, and it's impressive how it all came together.
Cettoto, I loved the scene where you were trying to sound all inocent about the notebook, and then it turns out that you really had it the entire time, and you ended up redeaming yourself at the end. Your acting is believable, and there was a lot of great emotion! Can't wait to keep working with you on the next unit.
Verias, I must say that it was nice for me to hear what your voice sounds like because now I know who I'm talking to as well. I wasn't sure how some lines should sound at the beginning either on my end, so I did a few different takes. Great fatherly voice, and again, believable! Can't wait for the next unit!
JCTrance19, awesome job, and keep up the great work!

It's out! I was so excited for this project. The story is really interesting and I really can't wait for the next installment. Now time for the critique!
Catherine: LightningBolt: I really liked the voice you used for this, and most of your deliveries were good. I found that some of the more angry lines sounded to me like they could have sounded more angry and over the top. Also, sometimes the lines didn't feel like they were conversational enough in the first scene to me. Most of your acting was very good though.
Hal: Cettoto: Wow, I didn't recognize this was you! Your voice sounds so different here. You play the nerd type of character so well, and I really, really enjoyed your performance. I have no complaints here :)
Robert: verias: I loved your performance in this. The only thing that I heard was, on one line where you were listing a numhber of things, you slurred your words a little. Other than that, great job.
Mixing: Nice job with the mixing, I love how this feels like you are watching a play on stage. A few times when there were long pauses I wasn't sure whether or not the episode had ended, but then it picked up again. I'm not sure if bgm would be any help here, because it is really enjoyable as is. Nice work.
Now get out episode 2!

Thank you all for your feedback.^^ It really mean a lot to me, to hear that my cast likes what they hear and that some people not involved are enjoying it as well (hey there VC, it's been awhile XD).
Aderu, if you're talking about the little static "farts" that pop up during the opening song, that's 4shared's fault. You were probably listening to it while the play field was still loading and when the bar isn't filled all the way, some static shots pop up randomly in the audio.
Again, thank you to everyone who's listened and downloaded so far. 25 downloads on the first day was definitely a surprise for me. XD Unit 2 is currently in the making right now, and I hope you all stay tuned for the whole show!

This episode was very well mixed! I noticed the fast-paced diologue in this one as aposed to the fittingly awkward pauses in episode1. The fast pace suited this unit though. AderuMoro, I must congradulate you on your delivery in this episode! You played the concerned sister and psychologist quite convincingly. Everyone's doing an excelent job. Love the part when Hal comes in and awkwardly extracts himself from the situation. Can't wait for unit3!!!

Yay! First thing in the morning and I get my fill of Proof, haha. Good job on the mixing, JC! Though--and this is probably just my preference--I think some of the footsteps are a bit too loud? I dunno, I never know how low to make footsteps o_O;
And awesome job to LightningBolt! I really like the spiel toward the end, it was awesome and the frustration really showed. And Cettoto's awkward entrance was awesome XD
I like the closing song, hehe.
Even though we're obviously not recording in the same place, I like how the conversation just flows. Fun stuff. Can't wait for next one!

Part 2 yay.
Lightningbolt, your performance really picked up in this part! Everything I had a problem with in part one you did in this part: made it conversational, had more emotion in parts, great improvement! There were some lines I thought could have been more sarcastic, but that is just nit-picking XD nice work.
I like Claire's VA. Some words sounded a little slurry, but not really. I loved your acting and you really bring the character to life.
I am beginning to create theories for this story, I love it so much. Can't wait to see how it ends and to see whether or not I am correct with my theories! JC, thanks so much for bringing plays to those of us who can't spend the money to go to a production of these awesome shows XD I appreciate it a lot. Love theater :)

Is it not playing? Or does it just take you to a blank page? 4shared's been getting glitchy lately. U-_-

Yeah it's a blank page :
Hmm. That's weird. My best suggestion is to refresh the page until it shows up. :/ If it still doesn't work, I can send it to you.

Yay, well now with an actual file that I can listen to, I can comment! I thought the sudden uproar at the beginning with the inside party was funny and sudden. I think Catherine sounded a little monotone, and Hal didn't sound as drunk as he could have. I'm not really sure how drunk he's supposed to sound...
The sex question made me laugh so much... hahaa. It was so awkward. And I'll be honest, the kissing also made me feel uncomfortable. I feel so immature now XD;
Catherine's performance picks up again in the second half, but once Hal walks in she seems like she suddenly forgets what she was talking to Claire about.
Yay intermission!

And that is a WRAP, ladies and gents! The final episode of this radioplay has been completed and uploaded for your listening pleasure.
A thousand thank yous to my listeners for being patient and encouraging me to finish this project. It's been a huge challenge from beginning to end, and I couldn't have done it without your support.
And to my lovely cast members, I'm so proud of each and every one of you. Thank you for auditioning and bringing this show to life, and for putting up with my lazy-ass this whole time. XD I'll be back later with individual comments and some closing words. Again, thank you all VERY much for your hard work and dedication.

All right! Just finished listening to this at work and...now I have no more dramas to listen to ._. Sigh... Anyway!
As usual, this is really well mixed, and I love the new intro song! If I'm not mistaken, the quality of the sound effects is higher too. I love how during Robert's spiel, he's pacing back and forth and his footsteps pan right and left (though I dunno if pan is the right word).
I also think it's cool that Catherine and Claire sound rather similar when they're yelling. At least, I think so. It's the same with my family--my mom, me and my sisters start to sound the same when we raise our voices, haha.
The music and sound effects in this episode really add to the atmosphere. The chilling Chicago winter howl, and the interspersed jingles... The music sounds so mathematic, haha.
I wanted to mention that listening to Claire and Hal make out again made me feel uncomfortable. I was sitting at my desk, snickering and face-palming with all the smooching noises. Oh, gosh... Oh, and the tense moments! Brilliant job, everyone.
More people should definitely give this a listen! I haven't actually seen the whole play on stage, neither have I seen the movie, but there were many times in theater classes when we turned toward this play to practice scenes. It's definitely not your simple-minded Saturday morning cartoon. It's smart, and not only 'cause it has smart people! I love Catherine's beautiful decline into possible cray-cray land, especially at the very beginning when the audience learns that her father is dead and that she's not really talking to him. I love playing the over-protective older sister, but Claire is different 'cause she's got bitch moments! Hal was adorable, and both Roberts were just, you know...brilliant.
I've definitely seen my own improvement throughout the life of this project. I'm so glad to be a part of this, and I'm so proud of you, JC, for sticking with it to the end! :D Thanks so much for having me on board!!
