What is your favorite amateur project that you were NOT involved in?

Zangya

Sarifus' FMA Brotherhood fandub Ling vs Wrath. Mhm.

Gosh this is hard~

Jefferz & Konata's Toradora Episode 1 fandub.

Visual Project: Well so far...Actorman's Final Fantasy IX. Props to him for getting so far! Hikuro's Macross movie fandub was a great watch.

Audio Project: I'll get back to you.

I'm gonna have to go OLD school style to answer this one. The "Dave and Roxie" Series.
Honerable mention to everything Tom Galang has ever produced.

Eternal Gene--owait...

Audio: The Elysium Project by dragonknighttara and Que Sera Sera by Sera Phia.

Visual: That one Gurren Langan dub by Sapphire, and that FMA Brotherhood Ling vs Wrath dub by Sarifus.

that's really hard, but... uhm... rebelcheese's radioplays?

I'm one of those who prefer radioplays before fandubs and I like rebelcheese's works. though there are other radioplays I like alot too. like Eternal Genesis: The Radioplay and Butajin!!!

and that... was all I could think of right now.

This one is hard, because a lot of my favorite projects I've been involved in, whether it be a main/supporting role or an extra...hmm.

That I haven't been involved in...that would have to be all of True_Blue's game dubs/RPs. The Chrono Trigger radio play, Final Fantasy IV radio play and the Super Mario RPG fandub. I love those to pieces.

Oh, and also Russ' Misfile radio play. That one is the awesome.

I don't think I was in Tom's Natural Disasters, so I'm going to pick that one. I hope I was, though!

Timepiece. The best production you've never heard of.

It was chock full of people I adore and served as the basis for one of my most ambitious projects which, sadly, never got past anything more than being an enticing curiosity...much like what inspired it!

I'm going to have to echo the sentiments of 'Anything done by Tom Galang.' His "The Box" was pretty impressive, much like his Natural Disasters and even Timepiece. I believe I've only had the pleasure of being in one production of his ["Circles,"] but that was limited to just a trailer. Regardless, pretty much anything he's ever made has been outstanding and if the links still work in the threads that he made, people should give them a listen.

For audio I'd say:

His "The Box" was pretty impressive

THIS.

That was just awesome.

As for visual, I'd have to say "Ling vs Wrath FMA dub" by Sarifus.

Sukusho's Sukisyo XD

Anything Sukisho is involved in. XD

Aside from that, I'd say Koichi Saito's Tales of the Abyss dubs.

Any of topleka's audio projects. They always kept me amused and I still wish she would finish up some of them.

I'm gonna go flash game on you guys. One of the best amateur video games I've ever played was the Escape Trilogy on Newgrounds, featuring Edwyn Tiong and Kira Buckland.

What can I say? I like point and clicks.

Seiyru's Tales of the Abyss parodies :d

edited for truth >:l

I thought about this for some time now, and I think I really enjoyed VoiceBox's "Hell Heights" radioplay--or what was left of it. The mixing was hot.

There was also another radioplay that sounded really awesome to me. I'm not sure if I'm right, but I think it was by Cody.

..I'm probably wrong. I'll find it eventually. :l

EDIT: Remembered it. "No Smoking" by Fernie.

I was never involved in ANY of Shudo's stuff (FF-VIII, Pretear, etc.), yet they are made of win! It's too hard to come up with an absolute favourite!

Oh Timepiece.... earth destroyed in the FAR OFF YEAR of 2004.

We need to have like. Tom Galang month were we just post all his old stuff. A lot of people have never heard a Tom Galang and I don't think anyone can disagree with me when I say Tom will always be the MASTER of using SFX to sent the mood of a scene.

The Datto Trilogy, Casey and Friends, and FMA/Seiyru's Tales of the Abyss parodies :d

The Datto Saga! I totally forgot about that! Ha! DATTO STYLE!

This is a tough question, some of these are from such a long time ago:

Original Project: Sapphire's VAA Pet Peeves or Russ's Misfire Radioplay (sorry if got the name wrong, can't quite remember), they were awesome.

Anime/Manga Based Project: There are so many great projects. I know I'll forget some, but a few off the top of my head was Nikki Jones's Peach Girl Episode 1 fandub which inspired me to being producing projects. Another one is Tylec's Spice and Wolf fandubs and Hikuro's Macross movie fandub.

Misc Projects: I can't remember who produced it, but the Fox and the Hound clip was one of the very first fandubs I ever saw and it really got me into voice acting. I'm not sure who put it together, but I remember there was Andrew Stein, Cristina Vee, Besty and Mathew way back in 2006 or early 2007. The cast and mixing was so solid, i thought it was the real thing.

For video I have a lot of choices, but I think the one that is stuck in my mind the most is probably Casey and Friends. My god this will never be forgotten.

Audio? Hmm... Still tough... Mizura's Phoenix Wright comes to mind.

But seriously, there are a lot of great choices, I feel bad for not mentioning a lot of things.

Tamtu's Final Fantasy XI: Hyozan Origins, definitely my favorite audio production.

Uh . . . hard, hard, hard.

I wish I had a named role in Butajin and Elysium, and I wish I was in Twin Stars, period, even if I was just a "Soldier A" type who dies after two or three lines.

On the video angle, I need to put more thought into it, but I can safely say I wish I was part of one of Sapphire's fandubs in general.

Sailor Moon Episode 1 Part 3. i'd also like to see a more useful question posed next week, such as "how do you increase your vocal range?" or "how do you accept rejection for...?"

Trickster's Eternal Genesis Radioplay and Shudo's FFVIII dub.

Seriously, they are so enjoyable to listen to and you can really hear all the work that goes into them. Uber props to you both! ^^

Hmm...

I would have to say Sera Phia's The GAME. It's just so awesome. I'm always waiting for the next part and when it comes out, I tend to jump up and down with joy. :'D

Still need to think about a visual production. >>;;

I'm gonna go with Tom's "Natural Disasters" as well. x:

On the fandub side I loved Mindy's Sailor Moon episode dub. And topleka's "Casey and Friends." xD

I remember that. It was simply amazing -- what really got me into mixing. Definitely unique, too. *digs around to listen to it again*

As for visual productions...I'll think about it. D;

Question suggestions can be PMed to Amby, as she's in charge of this project.

Also, I'm really glad people liked No Smoking and I'm really glad Fernie completed it. That guy's got super-talent and I'm pretty proud to have been a part of the project. I'd like to add that onto my submission of Natural Disasters, honestly.

Oh, fandub-wise...

I really liked the mixing and stuff in Sukisho's Winx fandub (I think it was winx).

I'm not big with fandubs, but I made it a personal goal to be a part of something belonging to Sapphire, Actorman (I TOTALLY wanted to audition for Sgt. Frog), and Sukisho's someday~

=P Lifepoint1 (Max and Steve), rtil, Lenko(biscuit), andthefrigginlistgoesondadgummitaaasfgadfgjhjkd are just some of the many flash animators I want to work with in the future. It might be tricky due to some personal drama among producers, but as long as I keep up my freelancin' vibe, I can keep my hopes up.

Hey, I appreciate the appreciation, thanks folks. :-D

As far as my favorite production goes, the first one that comes to mind is absolutely Tom's Natural Disasters – The Errand. It's the first thing I tell a random person not on the internet who even feigns interest in amateur voice acting to take a for a spin. It's probably the radio play that made me take radio plays more seriously. Not to say there wasn't a bunch of awesome stuff before, but The Errand had such a great sense of pacing that just slowly built up to this ending that said just enough then stopped. Along with an effortless use of enough sounds to tell you what's going on without explicitly saying it, building a believable contemporary setting, and natural sounding work from the cast just made for a compelling piece of audio work. I don't want to say it was cinematic, because that doesn't really apply when it's just audio, but it certainly invoked that “theater of the imagination” more vividly than most productions, this one just happened to be a movie theater. I hope I'm not hyping it up too much, but I do feel like The Errand is where the bar is set to, the one that at least I aim to reach whenever I get the time to make something audio wise.

Needless to say, it's really good. You should take a listen if you haven't already. Hopefully it's still online.

Wowwowowwow. Some random person IMed me with a link to this thread asking me to revive my dead links. Maybe I should make a giant repost thread. :P

As for the QotW (when the eff did we get this forum?), the first RP I remember wanting to be in was The Solia Legacy, by Mandy Clark, back in 2000 I think. It was one of the first RP's -- mostly everyone was just interested in fandubs back then. Probably nobody's gonna even know wtf I'm talking about or who the eff Mandy Clark is, but I wanted to start with my first. :P

For something more relevant (hopefully), I think TamTu created some superhero genre RP a few years ago, and I remember the action sequences to be really crisp and polished. I feel bad I don't remember the name of the RP, but it was a cool one and I thought it could have been fun playing a character with super powers alongside a bunch of my talented friends who themselves played characters in it.

Klay feeds me random stuff that Fernie does every now and then (I see Klay on vent regularly), and I don't remember names of the clips but I love Fernie and he has always been such a great personal friend and supporter of my projects, and I'm so glad that I can help inspire someone to themselves create something they can be proud of. I'd be happy to participate in any of Fernie's stuff.

EDIT: I want to mention Edwyn. I was in his submission for the "7 Wonders of the AVA World," the Producer Black Hole, with Serena. That clip really impressed me, because Edwyn's satire so accurately described the (at times) stupidity of this hobby, and his audio mixing was particularly good. Edwyn is incredibly creative when it comes to sound effects -- his use of bold, exaggerated samples and non sequitur approach to arrangement creates some funny effects and gave the clip itself a very distinct and entertaining style. I'll happily be in anything Edwyn produces in the future.

Finally, anything Ig has ever created that I was never in!! People don't understand how talented Ig is as both a writer and an audio producer. Maybe you need to know him or to have at least spoken to him to truly appreciate the attitude and personality he infuses into his work. I was actually in Dave n Roxy, but only played a bit part and always loved the show. All of my friends were in it, which made it even funnier. Ig writes quirky and dynamic dialogue which power his clips forward, and it's always fun to listen to.

Legacy of A Hero. Yes, a solid concept with a very dynamic range of productions. Lots of great ava goodness contained therein.

I echo: Indeed revive the dead links!!! :D

Fandub wise, I would say that hands down, my favorite is the Trusty Bell trailer Kitsune Squeak made. Favorite. The cast was phenomenal!

Audio wise, I too enjoyed the Hyozan origins production. However, I'm involved with my favorites soooo~

Dead link revival!
