This was a really good demo reel. Really showed off your talent at accents. However I do believe the audio cut out at the end...

I loved it! Your voices were great! And the different accents were awesome....

How on earth do you pull off that scottish accent?? *melt...*

I, too, melted just a little at the Scottish bit...just sayin'.

The mixing and arranging was good, so I guess credit goes to Sukisho, and you for getting him.

Ok, let's see. I did feel that I was hearing just one voice just with slight modifications of the tone, i'd say experiment with other voices, because I'm just hearing softness, which is not bad, but I want something more to it, or I want to hear a noticable change. Accents were a good touch, and at least you can do a Scottish accent while mine still needs to be refined.

The length of the reel was about right. Nice job on making the initiative of doing a demo reel, I still need to do mine.

Very interesting demo reel, Rahne! I have to say I was rather impressed with the range that you displayed, since I hadn't heard much of you beforehand besides our calls on Skype and the occasional video. I'll try my best to be concise but detailed with my review, so pardon my ramblings if any happen!

I have to say I really like your intro voice, even though it's just supposed to be a name-call; the softness of it took me by surprise, which is always a good start. However, you already display that softness in your very first voice, so my nitpick suggestion here would be to just record a solid, confident "NAME HERE" for the beginning; you want to give off that vibe that "I know what I'm doing here, so sit back and enjoy!", so listeners can just relish in the voices that follow.

1st voice - Again, the softness in this was very good; I could easily detect the combination of surprise and disbelief that came from the character, and although it got a little too "breathy" at times, the delivery was strong overall. I kind of wish you'd done it in a higher pitch (more youthful, maybe?), but my reasoning for this will come in a little bit.

2nd voice - This one threw me for a loop, in a good way. I had no idea you could pull off this accent, and yet you do it so well that I'm envious of the fact that you can. I also like that you went for a more calm and "factual" approach rather than resorting to energetic and "aggravated", as it was a break from the beaten path that made me want to listen instead of just say, "heard this before" and move on. My only comment here is to play up that emotion a bit more so it doesn't come across flat, but this is a solid voice.

3rd voice - My first reaction upon hearing this was to stop, pause the reel, and bring it back to the first voice; sure enough, they sounded alike in a lot of ways, which hurt the originality of this one. As you know, I've heard this voice from the production of Eternal Genesis, and it sounds just as amazing here as it did in there (and I mean amazing; it was pretty much the strongest performance in that entire episode). As such, my comment isn't so much about what you should change HERE than what you SHOULD HAVE CHANGED on the first voice so that the two could be more different from one another. However, I have no qualms otherwise about this.

4th voice - The change in pitch was a nice variant, but the softness appearing once again made it start to fall into a trend. Add a bit more curiosity into this, so that our character seems more 'confused' than 'dazed' - subtle additions like that can mean worlds when applied to an image.

5th voice - I would consider this the weakest voice in the demo, not because of the characterization - I actually liked the slight 'tweak' to the voice - but because the lack of projection or energy behind it killed any potential reaction I might have gotten out of it. Roles like this have needs for energy that are INTEGRAL to selling the part, and if the VA falls flat on that, the character is lost, and I get a strong feeling that this is what happened here. Don't be afraid to play up your performance and let loose, instead of holding back.

6th voice - I really, really liked this one, not only because it sounded crisp and clear, but because you captured the "elderly" tinge without going overboard on it. I really have no comments on this one; nice job!

7th voice - Like voice 5, this one suffered from "great delivery, unmatched energy", though not nearly to the same degree. Let me hear his frustration, his chiding and disdain. Remember; if I'm feeling it, then the character is feeling it!

8th voice - A little bit rushed, in my opinion, but the dialect was pretty cool, and the character felt different enough that I could appreciate it. Some pacing choices were odd, but it wrapped up the demo nicely.

IN THE END: Try to break out of that tendency you have to go "soft" or "breathy" on your voices, and give yourself a chance to just release your inner child and put some life into your emotions. While this works well for your more serious characters, it severely hurts your more comical or lighthearted situations, as well as those that need extra confidence or impact. This isn't an AMAZING demo, but it definitely shows off a range of both pitch and emotions, and that you have the ability to give deliveries I can believe in.

This was not a bad demo! I really like your talent for accents. Those were really good.

A lot of your voices seem a bit one-noted though. Not in the sense of delivery, but those of lack of energy and obvious pitch changes. Low, soft voices seem to be your strength, but experiment with your range a bit and break away from it.

The lines were delivered well, but it seemed like there was a lack of energy in some of them. In particular, the last 2-3 voices were prime examples of this.

This was a good demo nontheless. and I'd be honored to hear more of you soon Rahne. You've got the talent bro. Now you just need to keep up the good work and bring the energy into your lines!

I thought this was a very good demo, especially considering that it's your first one (or, at least, the first one I know of). I'm only going to touch on some of my more negative criticism because it was all fairly strong and very good.

2nd Voice - Initially, I was a little confused by this accent. I heard the words and understood them to be "stereotypical Scottish," but there was a part in the beginning that I thought it sounded like you were doing a bit of a Schwarzenegger impression. It was the "all know" part. But at the end the accent really leveled out and sounded great. Just watch out for that (Scottish is a pretty tricky accent; I'm not sure I could even do it myself). With that said, you could probably go back and add a Schwarzenegger voice, too. XD

5th Voice - I think this was the weakest voice in the demo. The voice was great, it just sounded... bland? Like you were holding back on this one. As if you were trying to not be too loud. Only thing I'd say to improve it would be to don't hold back, dude.

Otherwise, I thought the demo was really good. All of the voices were convincing and nothing too outlandish, which is something to be proud of. Also, as you do more, you'll expand your range and develop more voices while improving on all of these as well. I know I personally am really interested in how your performances will grow. Keep up the good work, dude!

This is a pretty good demo you've got here! I really like your voice - it's got a quality that can fit the mysterious voices and the young hero voice. I like all the accents you put in your demo - they all sounded pretty darned natural. I felt that some voices were a bit rushed and the energy was overall low. I wished every single line had a bit more umph in it.

But you've got a voice that has major potential. Just let loose with the energy, and you'll be excellent!

Thanks for all the comments and feedback, everyone! I really appreciate it all. ^^ Obviously, I have quite a bit to work on, like giving more energy to my characters and such.

That was actually a Glaswegian accent. :) Believe me, I wasn't trying to do a Schwarzenegger impression at all, that was just a Scottish sniper. :3 However, coincidently, I CAN do a great, beliveable Schwarzenegger impression, so I've been told. XD

Hey, Rahne! Finally got around to listening to this...and you did an awesome job, I must say (not to mention the very impressive mixing job by Sukisho).

Since I hadn't heard any of your accents prior to this demo reel, those were definitely the highlight for me. The whole Scotch-Irish brogue you've got going on is fantastic, and I don't doubt that you have the ability to expand even further there.

At the same time, I think this demo also pretty much solidifies my initial impression: that your greatest strength lies in your low, sultry voices. It was definitely nice to get a better sense of variety, but it really seems to hit home here that you're most in your element when you're playing more realistic, intense characters (I was amazed how well your speaking voice fits Zero Kiryu...it's like a hand in a glove!). I think that really shines through here. Ever since hearing you in EG, it occurred to me that you had a Crispin Freeman-like "edge" to you that makes you naturally suitable for those kinds of roles.

Anyway, this demo is excellent. It's the right length, and it does what it's supposed to do very well...namely, giving a sense of variety while simultaneously showcasing your strengths. Awesome stuff! =D

Thanks, Sky! And the accent was actually just a Glasgow Scottish accent, not Irish at all. XD Yeah, low and medium range voices are really my specialty and it's kind of funny that you see I've got a Crispin Freeman-like "edge" to me, because I was actually using Liam O' Brien as my inspiration when voicing Xaco. :P
