Koichi Saito's 2010 Demo Reel
Wow, has it really been a year since I joined the VAA? XD Well, new year, new microphone, new demo reel. As always, most of the lines are original, but with a few characters from shows here and there. Critique and feedback are always welcome, since I would love to improve on my voice acting.

Dude, this was awesome. Your voices were very distinct for the most part, some of the voices sounded similar to me but it's not too bad. I love your line choices and I thought it did show off your range in good time. Awesome job dude.

Your Vincent voice *0*

Your range is pretty outstanding, although, like Majin said, some sounded similar. Cutting out those similar-sounding ones would do you well, because the demo ran a bit long. The emotion was well-played, though often I wished it had just a little more umph to make it sound even more authentic.

Mixing-wise, I did say the demo ran a bit long for me. This could be fixed by taking out those similar sounding voices, like I said before, and taking out those pauses in between the lines (I found that using SFX to connect lines works wonders and keeps transitions fast). The ordering of the line were so-so - I sort of wanted a more exciting line for the first one. Although I liked the Vincent ending...maybe cause I love Vincent, so that's a little biased ^^;;. Music choices were well-done.

Overall, great demo, Koichi! 8D

Very nice! I felt like you used the same, or very similar voices, more than once. But you do have an impressive range. And the mixing was good, too. The music was present, but didn't drown out your performances.

Thanks. I showed off so much of my higher range in the last one, I ended up putting a lot of similar voices in this reel just to show I could play lower voiced characters. I guess I might need to actually get a second opinion next reel I make, huh? XD

Thanks Majin.

Hmm... At least I can say this ran less time than my last one. I almost reached 2-minutes that time! XD A minute to a minute and a half were my goals, but I guess I should shoot for a minute next time, huh?

You're one of the few people who actually like my Vincent voice. Glad to know you like it! Didn't think anyone'd be able to identify it. But, thanks for the critique Sera Phia, and I'll make my next reel even better!

Yeah. My lower range needs to be worked on a bit more since I tend to voice higher ranged characters. Thanks for the comment on my mixing, and my range.

Wonderful demo, dude! It was even better than your previous one. ^^ Lovely improvement, Koichi. As always, your range really impressive me, but as mentioned above, some of the voices sounded similar. I actually have a suggestion that you might be able to use in the future. :) When doing a demo, if you have one character that has a deep voice, you could consider omitting any additional voices that have any sort of resemblance to the first deep voiced character. That is, unless those two or three deep-voiced characters have voices so distinct, that they bear no resemblance, and you almost achieved that here. :)

Still, though, well done! The mixing was especially great.

Thanks Rahne. Like I said before, I'm still trying to develop a lower range, so I think it'll improve in time as I play around with my voice.

And I'm glad you liked it though!

Nicely done demo reel, main suggestion I can give without repeating what everyone else said is to make sure you put your strongest voice first.

Though it's still enjoyable and a strong improvement, good job ^^

You're welcome, dude. Good luck on your improvements. I will say, though, that I do envy you. You seem to specialize in higher range voices whereas I'm the opposite as I specialize in lower and medium range voices. :P
