Hey everybody!

John Drake from Realm Design here.

The Dawn of Chaos is a Warcraft III mod aimed at re-making Warcraft I.

We're getting geared up to release a new demo, but the only problem is that we are short of voice actors for orcs.

Now, we have multiple parts that need to be filled - all the way from main characters to regular units, so if you're interested in voicing one of these green-skins, feel free to record a sample from the lines provided.

General Note: The orcs in this mod have lower, gravely kind of voices. They are not nice guys, to put it mildly

Characters:

Orgrim Doomhammer
Slayer of the Thunderlord Clan. Main character of the campaign. Gruff voice with a near growl in the back of his throat. Quieter than the other orcs - more cunning and calculating.
Lines:
(Darkly) This waiting around is pointless. My blood hungers for something more.
What is the message, warrior?
Fenris the Hunter
Loud, over-bearing. Chieftain of the Thunderlord Clan. Cinematic character. Gravelly, growling kind of voice.
Lines:
(Loud and sarcastic) There you are, Slayer. I thought we'd lost you for a moment there.
Then I hope there's enough man-meat to go around. (Laughing) Get out of here.
Blackhand the Destroyer
Warchief of the Horde. Loud with a low register. Semi-intelligent.
Lines:
(Laughing) It is well for you that you changed your mind, then.
I expect results. When I want your services again, I'll send a messenger.
Units:

The unit section is a bit different. Since we don't have, really, any ideas as to what to expect for them, we're leaving the voice styles up to anyone who would like to try.
The units currently un-voiced on the orc side are as follows:
Peon
Raider (Wolfrider)
Necrolyte
Warlock
There are a few other characters that are not up for this try-out, but we may consider voice actors for those parts depending on who we think they would best suit.
If you would like sample lines for these units, here are a few general ones:
"We ride to war!"
"Job's done."
"Death to the pale dogs!."

Submission Instructions:

Please e-mail all auditions to me at: johndrake_2k@hotmail.com
All formats accepted, but MP3 is preferred.
Deadline: March 25 - EXTENDED!

With that said, I like to only mention one last thing - we ARE a bit picky, so do not be offended if we do not choose you for the part you tried out for. Chances are you may get another part.

That's all from me. Have fun and thanks in advance!

If you have any further questions, feel free to post them here.

Wow, It's been awhile since something made MY throat hurt a little. It's nice. I'll have to practice these more even if I don't get a part.

I'll audition but I can't seem to find where to download the MP3. My comp shuts down every time I go to Google. If someone could provide me a link I'd be happy to audition.

Very good auditions so far! Thanks guys!

Samurai, good to see you again! Your Orgrim is a little too... not sure what the word is, BUT, I think that voice would be perfect for Gul'dan.

Here is a piece of the script that has Gul'dan's lines if you'd like to try one or two:

Blackhand and Gul'dan stay motionless for a moment after.

Gul'dan: Are you SURE about this, Warchief?
Blackhand: You said we needed to take the initiative and start striking back, didn't you?
Gul'dan: Yes... but are you sure HE is the one you want?
Blackhand: You don't like him?
Gul'dan: I don't... TRUST him.
Blackhand: Good, then it's settled. Now leave me.
Gul'dan: My lord.

Gul'dan leaves. Center on Blackhand and fade.

Lunar, very good voices - but a bit quietly recorded. I think you'd be perfect for Fenris, any chance I could get a louder recording? Same with your Orgrim, if it isn't too much trouble.

Rahl, I'm sorry, but what exactly are you talking about?

Rahl, I'm sorry, but what exactly are you talking about?

I am unaware how to make an audition and don't seem to have this MP3 file you keep reffering to.

Sorry but I am very dumb when it comes to computers.

An MP3 is a file type. like WMA or WAV. What you need is a Microphone, A recording program (Like audacity) and the ability to save out in MP3 format.

You should go to the Tutorials section and read up. It's good stuff.

Rahl, if you're unsure about how to get started, I suggest you read the help section. Specifically, this thread: http://www.voiceacting.co.uk/board/viewtopic.php?t=117

Believe it or not, sometimes the help section is useful. ;P

Thanks to everyone who has auditioned again!

Lunar, you've most likely got two parts, possibly three. Though one of them is unlisted here, but I'll explain it later to see if you'd like to take it on. As for the other two, I'll have to show them to the other leader of this project to make sure he likes them too.

Pale Rider, good audition, but I'm not sure if it is exactly 'orcy' enough. Thank you for sending in your file, though. BUT we will be doing auditions for human characters soon, which might be more for you. I'll tell you more as it comes up.

(P.S. Yeah, I'm the other project leader. Nice to meet y'all.)

Oh, here's another thing we kind of desperately need.
You know the old Warcraft human voice, the one used for all the briefings in Warcraft I and II, the one that reads the intro to both games?
Well, the original WCI intro file is so old, the sound has so much corruption that it sticks out horribly.
So what we need is someone who can do the original voice to re-record the lines. If anyone can do this we'll be forever indepted to them.

In the Age of Chaos, two factions battled for dominance.
The Kingdom of Azeroth was a prosperous one. The humans who dwelled there turned the land into a paradise. The Knights of Stormwind, and the Clerics of Northshire Abbey roamed far and wide, serving the king's people with honour and justice. The well-trained armies of the King maintained a lasting peace for many generations.
Then came the Orcish Hordes.
No-one knew where these creatures came from, and none were prepared for the terror that they spawned. Their warriors wielded axe and spear with deadly proficiency, while others rode Darkwolves as black as the moonless night. Unimagined were the destructive powers of their evil magicks, derived from the fires of the underworld.
With an ingenious arsenal of weaponry and powerful magick, these two forces collide in a contest of cunning, intellect, and brute strength, with the victor claiming dominance over the whole of Azeroth.
Welcome to the World of Warcraft.

Anyway, if anyone wants to give it a go, record one or two lines. But please only try if you're sure you can do a reasonable facsimile. I don't wanna waste anyone's time, especially yours.

THIS IS A LINK TO THE ORIGINAL INTRO. Anyone attempting this ought to try and mimic the voice and the emphasis as much as possible.

The deadline has been extended to March 25th by request of a currently ill voice actor.

Okay, we're going to start answering some of these submissions.
To begin with, Lunar, are you still interested? Because we think you would be perfect for Orgrim. So you've got the part if you want it.
Let us know soon, though. We're working on something important and we'll need to get started on the voice acting relatively soon.

Of course! I've been looking forward to it. Will it just be Orgrim or him in addition to the other parts that have been mentioned?

Well, there are two other characters you may just fit. I'll explain more about them in private to see if you'd like to play them as well.

Anyway, what would be the best way to get in contact with you? I've added your MSN to my list, but would you prefer to correspond by e-mail or something else?

You can try and IM me. My aim name is lunarretro. Either that or e-mail me at odlunar@gmail.com. My MSN works as well. Anyway is fine for me.
