Hello!

I'm one of the developers of the highly acclaimed Dwarf Campaign for Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne, which has been played by tens of thousands of Warcraft fans. The campaign is an uncommercial project. The campaign is set in the fantasy world created by Blizzard Entertainment (Azeroth, the world of Warcraft) and is heavily focused on the story. The campaign has been developed over the past two years and it now consists of three high quality adventures. Now, we have begun voicing the campaign and are in need of several middle-aged male voices (and some others too - have a look at the character description document).

More information about the campaign
For more information about the campaign, please visit our internet site: www.dwarfcampaign.com . You can also download the campaign there.

Characters and audition lines
The voicing concerns the first adventure at first. This chapter, Defenders of Dwarvenkind, has 7 major characters and several minor roles. You can find all the characters in the following PDF document (use "Save As..." to save the document):

http://www.dwarfcampaign.com/sounds/chapter1/Dwarf%20Campaign%20Characters%20v2.1.pdf

Each character has one or more audition lines. If you want to apply for a character, send your voicing of the appropriate audition lines to me (see contant info below).
The character description document also describes various fantasy races you may not be familiar with and illustrates them with pictures (see minor characters). Racial speaking styles can be learned from voice samples (see below).

Dialogue Script
We have published the whole dialogue script for the first chapter. You can download it in the following link (it's a PDF document; use "Save As..." to save the document):

http://www.dwarfcampaign.com/sounds/chapter1/Dwarf%20Campaign%20Dialogues%20v1.2.pdf

The script contains 41 scenes and approximately 175 dialogue lines.

Voice samples
I've also attached several sound samples to our audio forum. They should help voice actors in getting grasp of what kind of voices different characters have in the world of Warcraft. Check both of the following threads out:
http://www.dwarfcampaign.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=361
http://www.dwarfcampaign.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=364

Recording format
Voice files must be mp3. I prefer 128 kbps (44100 kHz, 16 bit, stereo, CBR), but if you have better standards they are ok for me, too. I am also able to resample files with my Sony Sound Forge 7.
Multiple auditions can be packed into a RAR or ZIP archive.

Deadline
Deadline is April 11th, 2005.

How to Apply for the Roles
You audition for a role by picking a character and voicing his or her audition lines. Then you send this sample to Tommi.Gustafsson@dwarfcampaign.com . The auditions will be evaluated by the project team, which usually takes a few days. The evaluation may be delayed if we are waiting for several auditions for the role. The best actor is then chosen for the role.
If your audition files are too big for email, you can send them via www.yousendit.com . It's a free service for large email attachments.

Contact Information
My email address is Tommi.Gustafsson@dwarfcampaign.com .
You can also register at our forums (http://www.dwarfcampaign.com/forum/) and post in our audio forum (http://www.dwarfcampaign.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=19).

Cheers,

Tommi

I don't mean to sound obnoxious here - but you need me for this. I really really want to be part for this, and I believe I can do this project a lot of good.

The only problem is that I have no time at all for voice acting at the moment, perhaps in a week from now, but certainly not sooner.

As a personal favor to me, could you please be patient with me? I'll do my best to send in auditions as soon as possible. Thanks in advance!

Sure. Basically, all the roles are still free. Send your auditions when you've got them ready. Meanwhile, I'll continue searching for other good people for the roles and managering the voicing project. :) We may fill some of the roles if we find good people for them, but we try to take a couple auditions for each role and then choose the best one of them. Everything depends on how many auditions we get. But we'll be patient in filling the roles... sure we want to have the best possible people in them.

Btw, if anybody had problems downloading the audition lines or the script (could happen with Internet Explorer), I've now updated the links to point straight to these files (PDF documents). Now, the download works with IE, too. I'm using Firefox, so I didn't notice the problem at first.

The role of Ner'zhul, the Lich King has been filled by the fine work by SamuraiPanda. Do not audition for it anymore!

Dylan's auditions were great, but we still need more people that one person wouldn't need to do too many roles.

The deadline for auditions is April 11th, 2005.

Tommi

Yeah, there are a few lines for goblins. They have a specific racial speaking style in Warcraft, which you can learn in the sound samples. The most important thing for us is that you have good voice acting talent. We reject all the voices that don't make up to our expectations. But we are also quite generous when they do, as Dylan now knows...

Updated the character manuscript and the script.
- There is now the role for the narrator (and an appropriate audition line)

You can download the new versions in the links in the original post (they have been updated).

Hi Gotrex! You can find the characters and their audition lines here (it's a PDF document):

http://www.dwarfcampaign.com/sounds/chapter1/Dwarf%20Campaign%20Characters%20v2.1.pdf

It's the same link as in the original announcement.
There are plenty of dwarves, several major and several minor roles.
Don't audition for the Lich King. That role has already been filled.

Cheers! :D

We are still waiting for more people to audition! Especially older males! I don't think that anyone who has auditioned so far has been over 30. In fact, I think I'm older (29) than most of the people who have auditioned.

Dylan
03-31-2005, 09:48 PM
I'm 26. :)

I asked a friend of mine, he was interested, but he'll have to come round my house to record a few samples. Not sure if that'll happen on time though.

We need more fathers to be active on the VAA! ;)

To be honest, I just haven't felt like I can do much of a Scottish accent. Pity -- I'm over 30. :)

Have a look at other roles (non-dwarves without the Scottish accent). We need people for them, too. Only the Lich King has been filled. The rest of the people are free. For example, some minor/special roles to consider:
- Cultist of the Undead Scourge (normal male voice, cultist type)
- Gnolls (canine voice)
- Ogres
- Goblins
- Ancestors
- Narrator

Fair enough. Just sent you a Malbodion audition; I'll gladly do a few others but I'm out of time this second. Soon. :)

We still do not have enough good auditions for MINOR ROLES, especially dwarves, gnolls, ogres, and cultists. Talented actors, please audition for these roles, too!

The deadline for auditions is tomorrow (April 11). If you wish to audition, please do so as soon as possible.
