In New York City? There used to be Big Apple Anime Fest (http://www.bigappleanimefest.com) but they canceled last year because of the Republican National Convention and haven't updated their website since. Word is that 2005 probably isn't going to happen either, which makes me sad because it was so nice to just take a twenty minute subway ride instead of renting a room, and they showed anime films in 35mm on the big screen. The next closest thing is Anime Next (http://www.animenext.org/) at the Meadowlands Center in Secaucus, New Jersey. I doubt I'll be going this year though, not in the mood to either pay a few hundred for a room or spend hours going back and forth from the Bronx, especially since I anticipate being very busy/lazy around that time of the year. Maybe if there's some uber-special guest I just have to go see.

Here's a tip:
I live in South Jersey, and any time i need to go up to NYC or North Jersey, i take the train. The hotels in South Jersey or even as far North as Trenton are usually a little cheaper than the Secaucus-area, and the trains are very good. Check out the NJ Transit website (i think it's www.njtransit.com) and they have maps & rates. There's normal trains and light-rail lines all around that area. I know for a fact the NorthEast Corridor line goes through Secaucus (i was just there last week) You may have to leave a little extra time (you can't roll out of bed 15 minutes before you want to be somewhere), but i think saving the money is worth it! Hope y'all find this helpful!

I'm over near Camden. (yeah, i know... Camden.) My mom went to Rowan (although it was called Glassboro then). $99 is pretty cheap. I was just recently checking out hotels up there bcs. i had a gig in NYC, and the room rates were insane. Hotels are definately cheaper even as far up as Trenton.
