S t o r y

Eiri Kurahashi is a college aged guy working part time at a family-owned antique shop. Generally speaking, Eiri's life has been rather uneventful; what with playing coy with his friends' constant joking about his love life, his projects at art school, and his working at an antique shop.

This life of mundaneness is destroyed however, when Eiri discovers something interesting in a Venetian drinking glass sent to him and the shop from an uncle overseas. But Eiri's life undertakes a sudden change when he becomes fascinated with the glass… well, not necessarily with the glass, but with what he sees in the glass....

For those of you who actually remember this project, I'm sure you thought this day would never come. It has been a full year since the deadline for lines had passed. I have gone through hell and back with this project due to personal issues with a previous cast member I do not wish to discuss as well as my computers breaking every time I managed to mix this.

Seems like the fifth time is a charm with mixing, as part 01 is now released, the other parts of episode 01 being worked on currently. Overall I just want to apologize profusely for the delay, and to show you guys that I never give up on anything that i start. It is here, albeit late, but it is here. Time willing, we should have this entire OVA completely done by the end of October. So, one episode a month. <3

I want to thank my current cast for sticking with me and having faith that I would continue this, I also thank you all for reconfirming your parts. This really means a lot to me.

Now, onto some technical stuff...

+All lines except for Eiri's Friends, Yui, The Man and Cossette are over a year old. I also had Eiri record some extras, those are new as well.+

+When I originally scripted this a year ago, I did not include a pronunciation guide. The pronunciation of Eiri's name fluctuates from character to character, and this is my fault since I started this when I was relatively new to fandubbing and scripting alike. +

+ Concerning the above, I could've contacted the cast and had them redo those specific lines, but due to the amount of time that has passed as well as different mic quality, it wouldn't fit in right. I didn't want to make a handful of people redo all of their lines to match the new quality because of a pronunciation issue that was my fault to begin with. +
+ For Episodes 2 & 3, a pronunciation guide will be included, so please bare with me on this episode. +

Okay fine! I'll be the first to critique I guess lol.

Alright, I'm bursting with joy that this project was picked back up! Most producers would have just let it bite the dust and be forgotten. So Shudo, you get the most giant cookie evar!! I know I should probably save this critique until the full thing is out, but... I don't think this is the last one I'll write here anyways lol.

BlueShadow // Eiri -- Gonna get this outa the way... The only thing I'll say for myself is that I got a new mic now, so yay!! lol

Kairi // Cossette -- In order for this fandub to be the best it can be, the voice of Cossette has to be NAILED!!.... and.... you nailed it!! The opening monologue was perfect and you really captured her sadness. I'm definitely excited to see your performance later on, Kairi! I know it will be pure awesomnessnessess.

mippa // Shoko -- mippa, you're instantly recognizable, but at the same time you're different in every one of you appearances. I know I'm only going off one scene, but it's easy to tell that you're really wearing the character. Very nice and very natural performance so far.

Sachibelle // Hatsumi -- Heck, I'll just say everyone was wearing their character lol. You sounded like a doctor! Yay! I liked your voice and you made Hatsumi sound like she knew what she was doing.... Something I hope all doctors sound like xD

crystal // Zennshini -- You used the perfect voice for the character. I don't think I would have it any other way. It was actually kinda sexy/sultry in a way >.> but at the same time you sounded wise... XD ANYWHO!! Another very natural performance!

Motly Fool // Friend 1 -- I was impressed. Very impressed. The part is "loud friend," but your performance was very dynamic in that you were silly, but then switched to sounding convincingly concerned about your friend. Very nice!

Takahata101 // Friend 2 -- Has.... anyone ever told you that you sound like Johnny Yong Bosch? I thought you were him on the first line! But yeah, I liked it!

True_Blue // Friend 3 -- Less lines, but you didn't suffer at all because of it. Great job indeed.

Mixing -- The word I would use is seamless. The transitions between scenes were done very well, and the whole thing seemed to just flow. Syncing and levels were amazing as well! The SFX were great, not to mention using the OST was... let's say a good choice lol.

So where's the critique? My anticipation for this was at it's peak, and I don't think I would have let myself get away with "Oh it was so good, I can't even write one! Lawlz?" Everyone who is working on this definitely deserves their due praise!

I'll write more as new cast members are introduced and as new episodes are released! ^^

Another anime I haven't seen woo.

The mixing and editing was very very well done. The atmosphere that was presented definately created quite the mood so fantastic job on that.

Eiri- His voice seems to fit his character quite well, but his acting goes off and on and comes out very stiff and unnatural at times. Like the line "Are you sure it's ok I'm renting out this place" it feels kind of awkward and not like the character is actually caring at that moment.

Eiri Whiny friend- Same problems as Eiri occur. When he's trying to whine or sound sad it sounds a bit forced, however when he's talking normally it's just fine.

Eiri's medium low voiced friend- No complaints here or for his other friend.

Girl at beginning- Cool voice, sounds like it works just fine need to see her more though.

Doctor- Sounds slightly young but its a nice voice. No real complaint about her acting though she seems to come off as rather teenage (maybe thats how she was in the show).

Brown haired girl- Good voice and conveys her emotions well.

Last woman shown- Very good, sounded very mature and seemed to fit the character very well. Nothing to really complain about here.


Good job to all of you though because I think you captured a good mood for the show already. Good luck on the rest of it!

Critique:
Honestly, I think the entire cast (and producer, of course) did a positively perfect job. Each VA fit perfectly for their role, and it definitely felt like I was watching the dub, except better. The SFX and mixing were all spot-on, and I can honestly say I am looking forward to the next part. I haven't seen the series in a long time, and though it was a bit odd the first time around, I think the sheer awesomeness of this production is going to make it a lot more enjoyable.

I'm very thankful for the chance to be a part of this cast. ^^ Excellent work, everyone! Especially you, Shudo.

Once the entire thing comes out, I think I'll do a long, detailed, individual critique. But now, for the first part, it's looking fabulous. <3

I am officially creeped again by you, Shud~<3 And I love it!

I'd do a full critique, but everything -- from the cast and mixing, was done so well! It was all very professional, and, since it's my first time seeing this anime, it felt like I was watching a professional dub. The only few things that hindered it was the varying mic qualities (but BlueShadow got himself a new mic, so I guess that's fixed for any future episodes) and a few off volume levels.

Still, everyone did such a fantastic job that I'm totally in awe. You better make more, Shudo! I wanna know what happens next~

Wow just finished watching this - absolutely beautiful. The mixing was completely spot on and so many of the voices worked absolutely flawlessly. Kairi, you have a great adorable little girl voice which suited Cossette well; Mippa's deliveries were very clear and had wonderful energy; even Motly Fool stood out as a great extra (it was fun not hearing him as a crazy villain character for a change) and I really laughed listening to him obsessing over girls.

My only very minor complaints are firstly that Crystal and Scarlotte have very similar voices/deliveries and they're characters were a little hard to distinguish. Also, a few of BlueShadow's deliveries fell a bit flat for me - I would have loved to hear him sound a bit more longing or concerned or even just depressed since all the other characters were hinting about his condition. If not for their comments I would not have known. A few of the lines could have used a bit more energy as well, but this is nitpicking at this point.

Regardless, I am really looking forward to seeing more of this now - absolutely beautiful job all around everyone!

I'm a morbid person who's into messed up horror anime and video games. AHAHA. I'm glad you're enjoying it though! The anime really is a trip.

Grahh! I completely know what you mean about volume levels, that's always the hardest part of mixing for me. Especially when I have to break something up into parts, because I can't mix it all at once. [The program I use won't let me like, split something, and if I mix the whole thing at once and then split it it lags too bad and it drives me CRAZY.] So the audio levels ranging from section to section may differ. A lot of the casts lines vary in sound too, which is just something that comes with not being able to all record in the same studio together, so it's always tricky getting those even without damaging quality. [hardest part for me, any suggestions on how to improve the above would be lovely @.@ ]

This series in particular is also really hard to mix levels wise because it goes from quiet to very jarring powerful sounds and music. I do my best though and as I go on I'll find the right levels for this series. 8D <3 Anyways, I'm just rambling! Thank you so much for the comment/critique! I should have more out in the next couple days and then we'll be working on Episode 2. X3

Very creepy...well done to the cast and the producer for creating that atmosphere in part 2.

I won't do a full critique again (unless you want me to =p) but I'll say that the cast seems to get better as they go on. I still feel that Eiri comes out as flat when he's talking normally but when he's being obsessive or angry he's pretty good.

Can't wait for part 3!

Scarlotte // Michiru -- Great job from what I'm hearing so far, but I already know you're good, Scarlotte. xD I'm interested to see what role Michiru plays in upcoming episodes.

Actorman // The Man -- Yikes, you've got a really good 'old guy' voice! Very nice job! Voice, mannerisms, and emotion were all intact. Lol, he said "in bed" xD

Sachibelle // The Mistress -- We all know you're a great Hatsumi, and you're great here too! One of the more characteristic voices which I think you pulled off quite well. Not to mention the scream! Jeeeeze, you've got some pipes =O The Japanese scream is laaaame(goat) but yours made me go 'WTF!?!' xD

Another round of applause for your mixing Shudo. Everything fit together very nicely. The hectic scenes were supurb as well! Must have taken forever *_* By the way, what's the song at the end called, with the accordion? It's nice :3
