I'm doing a little research here.

Other than "Because I'm asked to", what makes you listen to certain productions?

Other than being told to listen, one that sounds interesting to me or a series or show that Ive heard of always helps, or familiar names also seem to draw me towards a production.

There are a number of reasons. Either 1) I'm in it, 2) It's by a producer I know or a friend of mine, 3) It looks interesting, and 4) It's something I know and therefore can actually critique what I'm watching

I don't.

I don't.

True. Our screams of pleasure do drown out the sound.

Why not?

Ya got somethin' better to do?

But in all truthfulness... I DON'T.

Ill listen just to hear how people make others sound and stuff like that.

Yup.

Plus nothing peaks my interest. (DO MORE CASTLEVANIA RADIO PLAYS. *cough*)

An interesting cast, an interesting anime/manga/videogame, an excellent producer, or if I'm in it/a friend is in it.

Ah-hah.

I tend to watch/listen more if I've just put one of my own works on the board. I feel that if I expect people to listen and comment to my works, I should pay some attention to theirs as well.

Generally speaking... I'm more likely to watch a fandub than listen to a radio play, because this is my field.

If it's a fanwork, I'm more likely to click on it if it's something I'm familiar with and like... or if it's something I was interested in checking out, but had not seen it before. If it's Inuyasha I probably won't watch it unless asked .

If it's an original, sometimes the title might catch my eye, or I remember seeing auditions for it and thought it was interesting (but not interesting enough for me to actually audition) at the time.

Certain producers catch my eye more than others, and also certain posters who may have replied to the thread last may encourage me to at least check it out.

Also last, but not least. If I see the thread in question has no replies, I'll probably take a look. I figure I'd be pretty depressed if I put my heart and soul into a work and absolutely no one commented. If the thread has 30 replies or something, I might take a look to see why it's so popular, but probably won't reply.

A few reasons, really. Either I'm in the production, my sis (lirifox) is in the production, or my friend's in the production. If there's something that interests me or has a catchy title I listen to it. Also if a certain person produced it.

Because SOMEBODY's got to. Nothing like working hard at something only to have nobody respond to it. At all. So I'll listen, and leave a review afterwards. I have to admit that I tend to avoid anything in the fandub/samplers/singing sections tho.... O.o

If I had a more stable machine, I would listen to more productions ^^;

Yeah but for now, I listen to the ones I'm casted in, or radioplays with stories/characters that I'm familiar with. When I have extra time, I tend to branch out and listen to original rps (which I haven't had much of lately!)

Oh so your just here for the sparkling conversation eh matt? Figures.

Seriously though, how could anyone expect to have their work listened to if they don't listen? Half the fun of making is listening. On a personal level you can pick up tips, styles and be entertained at the same time. It's all for the good.

I used to be here for the sparkling conversation, but then people stopped conversing.

I do listen. Sometimes. If the topic interests me.

I can safely say I haven't listened to anything in about a year. Guess that goes to show how interesting things are to me.

But that's just me.

I listen to stuff by cool producers or voice actors. Often, those people are friends or people I know from previous work.

But even more important is the subject. And truth be told, certainly not everything looks that interesting to me personally. Effectively, if you want people to listen to your work, make something people want to listen to, simple as that.

I listen in order to get examples from people who are better than me. And if there is a certain character I really want to play, I listen to how whoever got casted as her plays that character so I will know how to play the character in future auditions.

I'll listen to productions I'm in, cause to me it's vital for me to be able to critique my own performance, and support the production I'm in. I'll also listen to productions based on if I'm familiar with the producer or cast members. Without pointing anyone out, there are particular actors who I admire and like to support by hearing their clips; same with producers, who I admire the quality with which they cast, script, and mix their productions.
I will sometimes listen to productions which have unkown (to me) cast members who I've 'heard about,' and want to check out. Same with producers, though in that case it's a bit more unlikely.
