Anime soundtracks!

I was wondering what everyone's favorite anime soundtracks are?
I have all the escaflowne ones;
Escaflowne - Original Soundtrack 2

Escaflowne OST I - Over the Sky
Escaflowne The Movie (US version)
The Vision of Escaflowne - Lovers Only

I love orchestra soundtracts and Escaflowne really brings out the big guns with theirs! It's absolutly beautiful. :-)

Favourites? Oh jeez. Uh... Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust has some waaaay awesome music. But I'd have to say my all time favourites would have to be Joe Hisaishi's soundtracks for Ghibli movies. (Mononoke-hime, Sen to Chihiro, Howl, Laputa, Nausicaa...) ^.^ I'm obsessed.

Someone's bound to say it sooner or later, but basically all stuff by Yoko Kanno ^_^ (My favourite especially being the Standalone Complex soundtracks).
Naruto is also a big winner, for pure originality and coolness.

A collection that's stayed on my player for a good long while are the Samurai Champloo OSTs, 'Departure', 'Masta', 'Impression' and 'Playlist'. I swear, there are some true instrumental masterpieces spanning across all four. Very chilled, and suits the series perfectly.

I don't really have a specific anime soundtrack. But I love all soundtracks by any of these animes:

Favorite Anime Soundtrack..omg you are like crazyyyy there's like sooo many..lol

But yeah some of the ones I love are every Ecsaflowne ost, everything Slayerssss, Both FMwS osts, Utena the Movie Ost, and every Inuyasha OST.

I love the Ghibli soundtracks, epecially Princess Mononoke.

I am also head over heels for the Escaflowne the Movie soundtrack, Wolf's Rain OST 1 + 2, Haibane Renmei OST, the Naruto soundtracks and pretty much anything by Yuki Kajiura. :)

The Pillows' music for FLCL is great.
The Cowboy Bebop soundtracks by Yoko Kanno are just a bunch of great stuff, I wish they would release those CDs here!
And Akira just would not be the same with the music of the Geninoh Yamashirogumi, classic stuff.

FLCL released an extra soundtrack that has only recently come to my attention from their other one :O

The D. C. ~Da Capo~ OSTs (particularly the second one) are wonderful.

I also like the first Kono Minikuku Mo Utsukushii Sekai OST and the Chobits OSTs.

And when the Tsukuyomi ~Moon Phase~ OST comes out in about two weeks, that'll be another favorite of mine (because I already know its excellent).

The Fooly Cooly soundtrack rocks... I love the Pillows!
The Wolf's Rain soundtracks are awesome... and Last Exile, Escaflowne the movie, Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Comples, and Inuyasha soundtracks are good, too. Along with many many other anime soundtracks... anime has the best music ^^

OK, I looked for this post and couldn't find it. YEA NECROPOSTING. My favorites are the Bleach and Evangelion Soundtracks. They are so original, especially Bleach. I love all the guitar songs in it. They are amazing. Please don't lock this, I was told to come here.

Hehe, funny that you mention Bleach and Eva music; both are done by the same guy. :) He's pretty awesome.

I love Bleach music, too - the style is so original. Maybe not the use of the guitar, but the unique way the instruments and digital effects are brought together to create atmosphere so well. It can be rare in anime these days.

They also choose some great opening and ending music for Bleach, which is another plus.

I also like Naruto OP's/ED's, but not the BGM so much, since they sound so synthesized sometimes (which they are, but eh). But it's not bad, and I've always liked the traditional flavor to them. (Listen to Jiraiya's theme - traditional Japan meets the guitar! Very cool.)


I'll have to think of more series with good music... oh! Honey and Clover has some of the best anime music I've heard for a romantic comedy type story, and the insert songs are always very fitting and meaningful, which I like. Of course, I just love everything about that series. :P Really pretty music there, though, and nice rock stuff.

I love Spiral music. XD I'm also a sucker for Inuyasha, because of the asian sounding music. I am a HUGE fan of anything Yuki Kajiura. I would also be one of the first people to get the Saiunkoku Monogatari soundtrack. Again, asian sounding music. I also love Slayers and...well...there's just so much I love! Oh, can't forget the music for the Hayao Miyazaki movies!

I've only seen one episode of Tsubasa chronicle but I really like the bg music for it.

When it comes to soundtracks, Inuyasha, Ghost In The Shell, and Evangelion.

When it comes to individual songs, Itzanura Na Kiss (Mischievious Kiss; am I spelling that wrong?) from Inuyasha and the Ray Charles classic "I Can't Stop Loving You" from Metropolis.

Most .hack series have really nice music. Except UDEDEN... but that's an entirely different story.

I really like the music for King of Bandit Jing, too.

Yea, jazz is rarely used in Anime anymore. I think Tank has my vote for favorite Opening theme song, next to Cruel Angels Thesis, because that song is uber amazing. I'm almost obsessed with it. It just goes soo well with the anime, and the animation in the opening scene goes amazingly well with the song.

Wow, Cowboy Bebop... how could I forget? That is one incredibly unique OST. Not just jazz, but some great vocal and piano stuff, too. :D


I'm also adding .hack and AIR to my list of favorites. AIR because it's simply beautiful, and .hack because it's another series with a nice blend of original music - techno and celtic sounds, that kind of thing. :)

Whats your fav anime soundtrack?

Well... uh... mine's exactly the same. I own all of those albums as well, and listen to them probably more than any of my other OSTs. I'm a big fan of Yoko Kanno and I'd say if you like her Escaflowne work that you should also try the Turn A Gundam soundtracks. Those are more of a return to her classical style, as opposed to the more jazz/western influenced work she did on shows like Cowboy Bebop.

I also really like Shiro Sagisu's work on Kareshi Kanojo no Jijou. I have all those albums too.

If you like guitar and, to some extent, "noise" music, Tsuneo Imahori's pieces are always awesome. From Trigun, to Hajime no Ippo, to Gungrave, he just does some really cool stuff. Not to mention he often does most of the guitar work for Yoko Kanno's stuff as well.

Kohei Tanaka is another brilliant composer. His work on Sakura Taisen and One Piece has just been awesome. Half of the reason I like One Piece so much is because of his music.

Can't think of any more at the moment, but I have a lot of anime soundtracks so...

On that note, I tend to listen to my classical music or soundtracks fairly loudly (but not excessively so) when I'm driving around during the day and people often give me funny looks. Anybody else get this?
