[song(s)] Sera Myu - The "Perfect Cast" Search - CANCELLED

Note to all:

Please let it be known that this was cancelled.. A couple of months ago. Unfortunately, I hadn't edited this (I only edited the production manager thread), so I'm editing it now due to necroposting (not her fault, my fault on that one).

In response to a rather rude comment about this production, I want to state the following reasons as to why it was cancelled:

1) No one was auditioning for the open roles. I wasn't getting NEAR enough auditions between deadlines to fill the emptied slots from people dropping out of the production and from people who had vanished from the VAA.

2) The cast didn't give a hoot. Certain cast members showed complete and total disregard for the project, working on other projects first, shirking deadliens, and offering excuses as to why their songs weren't completed. It was easier to do their own stuff and put it in the Recording Studio than it was to do their promised songs. This relates to reason 1, as I couldn't fill the empty spaces when I got sick of it and dumped them from the cast.

Finally, 3) I was having enough trouble getting cast members to fulfill their duties in my radio play project (which currently is FINALLY in mixing, huzzah); I didn't want two dying projects taking up my time and stressing me out.

So in short, this was FUBAR for a while, but I was trying too hard to keep it alive. I ended up dragging around a dead horse swearing to myself I would ride again.

Thank you to those who DID put effort and love into this project; you know how you are (basically, anyone who ever bothered to get their recordings in). I appreciated it,and you all did great; I feel bad that I may never find the time to release your songs. Especially SakuraNek0, you were a wonderful Uranus, and it's sad that your Neptune vanished O.o Harsh! Saint Cry!! Can't really be done with out her, you know?

Again, thank you all for your time.

And please, no more smartass comments, if you wanna diss me do it in a PM. Taking potshots at me as a producer without knowing what happened with this project is just rude and just pointless, as I hardly have the worst record as a producer that this forum has ever seen.

I'll be holding auditions for pretty much every character. If you have other characters you want to try for and have songs/lyrics for them, feel free to send those in as well. This is just the first group I want to get cast, because I have karaoke versions of these songs and my main interest at the moment is dubbing characters songs.

I'll be posting "I'm The Prince Of The Earth" pretty soon. No karaoke of that one, but I can use editing magic to overpower the original singer....

Send in audtions for ALL Of the characters if you want! My idea of what each Senshi/character sounds like may be different from everyone elses' ideas ;)

I could never figure out what his name was SUPPOSED to be. If you went along the same gem-based nameset Naoko had the Dark Kingdom based off of, Diamon, Sapphire and Emerald made sense - plus, the Prince was all white, Sapphire was all blue and Emerald was coevred in green.. yet I also hear them called "Demando (omFg what a crappy name for him ;_; ), Saffir (um.. sapphire wannabe anyone?) and Esmeraud. If it was more like Demand adn SUffer it would make sense, but I couldn't think of what an Emerald-esque name would actually be.

So I call him Prince Diamond. Or if you're going to call him Demand(o), just spell it Demand dammit! Demando.. it;s like.. "HEy guys, I"m going commando!" only not ;_;

To audition the only requirement is that I can hear you sing - as in, you're not drowned out by the original. You can play the song wihle trying to sing it to matchi t, not a problem: just make sure I can hear you!

As for Ulin - The file IS an .ogg file. It's another type of audio file, a bit smaller than an mp3. It plays in Winamp, like Katie said. If I get enoughr equests I'll make a .wma or ,.mp3 and upload it, but most people can use .ogg files at this time, so I'm in no rush to do so.

These are not to discourage or give any hints as to who I may end up casting. This is mainly constructive criticism and so other auditioners will have an idea as to how I'm grading this, and to giev you all a chance to try again if you like (unlimited re-tries until I close auditions =3) Some of these are brokwn down by songs in specific, but some are the VA with their auditions listed after - that's usually if there isn't an intense difference between each song they chose to audition for.

Newest will always be at the bottom.

Sionna - Galaxia Gorgeous

Clear audition. Needs a bit more power. I like the way you didn't just do the regular chorus and went with the down-keyed version. The first audition I got for her. Your main flaw here is you sing too softly, so there isn't enough power. Pronunciation was good, but stumbled in a few places. =3

Sionna - Honoo no Messenger
Again, not enough power. I like the way to tried to match the way the singer in the clip did Mars, nice attempt. Your pronunciation isn't too bad either.

Sionna - Last Change
I like the sort of mournful way you sang the beginning, but again when it go to the powerful part, the power wasn't there. Instead of singing more powerfully, you just went higher in pitch. That's a common problem with people who are trying to eb quiet for neighbors or other people in the house, or just a case of lack of confidence.. either way, you still did a good job ^_^

Kwon Soo Min - To A Brand-New World
Your voice was very clear, but a bit shaky. A couple of the parts were a bit incorrect in length or just a little stumbly. But I like your voice, and you definately sound like a mature Saturn. The very strong waver in your voice while holding notes is a little worrisome though.. although my chorus teacher insisted on wavering like that, if it wavers too much it sounds like you're nervous. Other than that, a good adaptation.

Kwon Soo Min - Chasin' After You (Taiki)
Definately deep enough to pull off a Starlight (16 year old boy and Sailorsenshi? Yah.) The waver in your voice reappeared here, but it wasn't as bad. Good power. Especially in the end "Shouting for my love! Shouting for your love!", but had more of a desperate feel than I would think this song should carry. But I really like your voice and hope you try for more parts as well, just as an excuse to hear you sing more XD

Tamashii - Honoo no Messenger
Had some trouble with the pronunciation, and no power. A solid voice, but you didn't put any strength into the words, and missed a step or two. Also, some of the R's weren't rolled with a Japanese inflection. Good with pitch and tune, just the previously mentioned problems were there =3

Thessa - Last Change
Nicely portrayed, nice flow into the stronger part. A strong voice, nicely pulled off, and I like how you just paused instead of trying to do the meshed-together parts in one sitting, thus eliminating the rushed feel and not stumbling. Perfectly okay (in case anyone who is reading this isn't aware of that ^^; )

Togepi - Drive Me the Mercury
You sang a bit too softly. A nice job in the wya of pronunciation though. Not any really garring errors besides the lack of vocal strength =3

Togepi - Traditional the Grace
Essentially the same problems as above. The Japanese speaking part was good, but a bit stumbly on the end =3

Vee - Chibiusa no Kokoroiki
O.M.G!! >D Too cute!! Definately sounds Chibi-Usa-ish, SO much an improvement on the girl in the clip ;_; Thank you so much!! lol I'm hoping to hear auditions for the Amazoness Quartet from you ;)

aisasami - Last Change, Traditional the Grace, Mata Mata Chibiusa Desu, Yumeyume Utagao Koto Nagare
A valiant effort, hon =3 BUt you need, as I said before in an email,to become more comfortable with the songs before doing a final recording to send. You stumble and mispronunciate a lot due to not really being comfortable with the words. You also seem to be rushing it out, so you hit a lot of odd notes in trying to sing the songs. Auditions are still open, so feel free to listen a while longfer to the songs, regroup, and try again ^_^ And try to send small clips that don't extend into 4 minute long silences o.o

Alita - honoo no Messenger, Last Change
A nice voice, a nice try, decent pronunciation. Your audio quality leaves soemthing to be desired (it fades in and out). You also need to try a little harder to hit the right notes in a few cases (usually going up or down in a drastic change of pitch)

Alita - Prince of the Earth
The only audition I have of this lol. Youa ctually would sound likea young man or boy! Another case, though, of needing to watch pitch.

Cassandra - Zigzag Slash, Yameta, Honoo no Messenger
Definately got the maturity going for you. Pronunciation is pretty good too. You hit a couple of flat notes but other than that, a good audition ^^

ChibiRei - Last Change
Very nice ^_^ You have a nice, clear voice. I liked it a lot. Pronunciation was pretty damn good too. You went for the fast version, I see, as well. S'all good.All it needed was a little more power =3

Katie - Honoo no Messenger
Good power, clear voice. A couple of stumbles, seemed to try a little too hard to get it all in there. Wasn't sure about the part where you said "Messenger" instead of the Japanese pronunciation "MESENJAA", but it worked ^_^

Katie - Last Change
Good poewr again, but you kinda stumbled a couple of times again (another reason to stick to the Japanese pronunc, as it doesn't make it as hard to transition back to the Japanese lyrics), and you seem to shout instead of sing some of the parts. But great job overall.

Katie - to A Brand New World, Traditional the Grace
A good set of auditions here as well. I have no idea how to say this, but when you said "yuwaku" in the Venus audition.. it seemed too "English" sounding. I have no idea how to put that o.o Other than working on not fuzzing the sound by kinda shouting in the mic and working on Japanese inflections, you're doing good ^_^

Mandy - Drive Me the Mercury
VERY nice opening. Your singing was a little weak in a few parts, but overall good. I loved the pronunciation. A little less poewr in acouple places than it needed, but good overall!

Mandy - To A Brand-New World
I like the way you sang this, kind of haunting =3 A lovely rendition. Good pronunciation, again. You seem to have them r's down well ^^

Senshi - Drive Me the Mercury, Last Change
Your pronunciation needs work. Your singing was good, but the pronunciation throws it off a bit. There area few parts where youd idn't match the lyrics o.o But overall a good attempt, like with Ai Sakura-chan, just re-study the lyrics, listen more intently and sing with it again pre-recording, and send in another attempt later if you like =3

Trinity - To A Brand-New World, Drive Me the Mercury
Your voice is lovely, but a bit wavery. Sounds a bit like you're not getting quite enough air before you start, resulting in a weakened and wavery finish. Your speaking part as Mercury was good, but still your singing was a bit nervous. In all a good audition ^_^

Trinity - Harsh! Saint Cry!! (Uranus and Neptune), Forbidden Hades, To A Brand-New World (attempt2)
Strength got a lot better this time ^_^ Still a bit nervous-sounding and you sometimes have trouble jumping to a higher-pitched note (seen especially in BNW) and vice-versa, but a much better, stronger audition! THanks so much =3

Iscabibble - To A Brand-New World (Sailrsaturn)
*listens while typing* Strong, voice doesn't break too often, if ever. A little fuzz on the higher notes - watch that mic! ;) A little misspronunciation on "kanashimanaide ne" - understandable, that's a mouthfull. And your "suru kedo" was slightly offpitch but not unfixable. A bit of a deeper Saturn but I liked it ^___^ I strongly advise auditioning for the Inners - less Usagi, as I'm aiming for a higher pitch to be honest, but I would still like to hear your rendition of Last Change as it woudl give me a feel for what you can do. A great audition overall =3

Song of Amazon - Drive me the Mercury
The only real flaw I can bring up is the opening speech - it came off a bit rush-and-stumble. Good pronunciation though! =3 Your singing needs a little more power for a musical-type feel, but I like your voice type as for the kind of voice I'm thinking of for Inner senshi. A good stab at Mercury!

Song of Amazon - Forbidden Hades
A little weaker than your DMTM. Got better as your went on. I aljmost wish I had more of the song in there, you seemed to really get into it right before the more powerful part, and if you want to send in an extended audition for Forbidden Hades I'd enojoy it, I want to see where that power can go. Again, good pronunciation. =3

Song of Amazon - Harsh! Saint Cry!! (Uranus, Neptune)
I like you as Neptune here. Went into the "My Deep Sea" line a little weakly, but overall both performances were good. I like how there was a subtle difference between each voice - Uranus sounded a bit more - dare I say it - Butch, while Neptune sounded very elegant and womanly ^__^ Wonderfully done.

Song of Amazon - Traditional the Grace
A little weaker than your other performances, only because a few of the places were either slightly mispronounced or off-key, but a good rendition ^____^ You nearly nailed the last part as well, her little "Ai no tenbatsu!" speech :3 A lot cleaner than the beginning of DMTM (but probably not as strong a performance).

Song of Amazon - Teikou no Hana
Yay! I love when people send auditions for characters I don't have up yet because I'm too damn lazy to make more :XD I think you're pretty well suited for that more opera/Phantom of the Opera style singing. You hold notes well, and have the right amount of deliberate waver. I am not familiar enough with Kakyuu-ouhi's songs to give a perfect critique. Your verbal performance was a little too whiny-sounding, but for all I know it was originally that whiny XD And I don't knwo the circumstances and am assuming something bad is happening when that song was performed in the musical. XD Again, though, when you get the higher pitches and power, watch your mic[/b]. It starts to get static/warpy when you get too close to the mic - try moving it away from your face when you hit the harder notes if you can. I'll let it go this time because it wasn't really bad quality - I'm not THAT strict on my guidelines XD

Cassie - Chasin' After You
I think that in your attempt to get a deeper voice, you hit the notes a bit flat. Hitting lower notes than the song does is understandable and not a problem, but they seemed a half-note off. It lacked the power that this song should hold. But the singing wasn't bad at all, and I like having such a mature-sounding auditioner - mkost of the auditions so far are younger, more girly sounding girls, so having someone to work with who has a deeper voice is enticing!

Cassie - Forbidden Hades
Oddly enough, the beginning sounded either a bit warped, or you were singing even more deeply in your throat than you were for Chasin' After You. A bit too deep for Pluto, but a stronger performance than the one above, and still a good singing voice, strong.

A lot better, building up a lot more toward the end than in the original. Stronger performance overall =3

Cassie - Galaxia Gorgeous
Like with the audition for Chasin' After You, this lacks the power the song should have. It sounded kind of like a very... Frank Sinatra-era pull off XD It wasn't bad, just not quite what I would expect for a Galaxia song. It's hard to hold up to the power and evil of the original singer, but it's a bit too weak either way. Same as before though, still a good singing voice!

Try 2
Here we have more of that power/flow I was looking for. Muchly the improvement, although your "Crush Crush Crush and Demolish" was still a bit hushed =3

Cassie - Honoo no Messenger
You seemed to have been singing a little weaker than expected for all songs, so I'm not going to comment on power anymore XD You seemed to have a little problem with "yasashisa ja kawara nai", but that's a hard part to sing, so it's understandable. You sang also at a higher pitch in this one than the others and it sounds either more natural or just more comfortable some how - dunno why. But one of the better songs in your selection =3 A bit too deep still for a Mars, but a good rendition (you should try for Jupiter or Uranus next >.> <.<)

Cassie - Yami no Hitsuji
Wow, a Beryl audition XD Very Opera singer-ish - quite Beryl. A bit too deeply sung I think, and too quiet in some points, but I liked it. Very melodramatic! =3 In a good way XD

Cassie - Innocent Demand
I don't get a lot of auditions for this song and it makes me cry inside XD
Sounded very painful - not like you were being hurt, but like he was grieving. I think I'm still aiming for a male for this role. But it was pretty good. You needed a little more power as usual in the strong part. But I liked your pronunciation, and you stayed primarily on-key, which sometimes can be hard when trying fo ra deeper male voice, so I'm impressed =3

Tris-chan - Traditional the Grace
Cute =3 A little weak a few places but I thought the way you said "thinking so easy" was adorable XD And the earnest way you said "ai no tenbatsu..." Hehe.

Tris-chan - Drive Me the Mercury
Your singing here was good =3 I like the range you put on the Mercury~~~~ part. No big errors here.

Tris-chan - Honoo no Messenger
Only thing was it could have been a little bit stronger. Other than that, a good performance =3

Firefly - Innocent Demand
One of the more mandly womanly performances I"ve gotten. A pretty good try at Innocent Demand. You ended a few lines a bit weakly, and lost a little power throughout. But not too bad. Need to work al ittle harder on hitting some notes but good overall =3

Firefly - Chasing After You
A bit weak for a Starlight here. A few stumbles on pronunciations. But definately got the deeper voice going for you =3 And I could really feel you shoutin' for my love! =D

Firefly - Harsh! Saint Cry!! (Uranus)
Not too bad. A shorter clip. Probably the most consistantly accurate of the performances. ^___^ I liked it.

Ooh, critiques! I loves those! As for sounding "English", that has been fondly named my "American accent". Which makes NO sense, because I'm SO Japanese, not American! Or wait. That's wrong. Other way around.

Believe me, if the Japanese singer could say the English words without the Japanese accent, she would do it. But she can't, despite a valiant effort to do just that. So I'm going to do what she couldn't, in essence, providing me with an advantage over the Japanese singer! BOOYAH! I AM T3H WINNAR!

Second, I hope you don't think I was trying to be mean ^^;;; It's called "constructive criticism" for a reason - when there is an area to improve upon, when you do an audition, the person who's looking to cast you will haev a tendency to try to help you out and improve your chances if you audition for them again in the long run. I wasn't trying to tear anything apart O.o

I wasn't trying to be harsh and I graded with the same standard as I graded everyone else, and I wasn't trying to make you feel bad, hon. You did good - you just haev room for improvement, as does everyone else who auditioned - just with yours I had places I could easily describe what needed improvement and offered my opinion on it.

Your pronunciation needs work. Your singing was good, but the pronunciation throws it off a bit. There area few parts where you didn't match the lyrics o.o But overall a good attempt, like with Ai Sakura-chan, just re-study the lyrics, listen more intently and sing with it again pre-recording, and send in another attempt later if you like =3

Your voice was very clear, but a bit shaky. A couple of the parts were a bit incorrect in length or just a little stumbly. But I like your voice, and you definately sound like a mature Saturn. The very strong waver in your voice while holding notes is a little worrisome though.. although my chorus teacher insisted on wavering like that, if it wavers too much it sounds like you're nervous. Other than that, a good adaptation.

Kwon Soo Min - Chasin' After You (Taiki)
Definately deep enough to pull off a Starlight (16 year old boy and Sailorsenshi? Yah.) The waver in your voice reappeared here, but it wasn't as bad. Good power. Especially in the end "Shouting for my love! Shouting for your love!", but had more of a desperate feel than I would think this song should carry. But I really like your voice and hope you try for more parts as well, just as an excuse to hear you sing more XD

Ya think? The impression I get is that she isn't in a hurry to choose a cast since this production has no planned release date, so she's just keeping the auditions open for an undecided length of time to try to get in as many auditions as she can before she finally decides to close it. ^^

NO ONE is cast yet. I haven't received enough auditions to make any decisions. Some characters have only received 1 or 2 auditions, and I hope to get at least 5 or 6 different auditions for each character before I make casting decisions.

Miss Dream is Hotaru's song while in the Dead Moon Circus (wow, they redid her storyline for that musical thingie) wherein she's called Miss Dream/Hotaru. Later on she becomes Sailorsaturn and sings To A Brand New World. The tune is like her theme song, and the lyrics are altered to fit who she becomes.

Kind of like a couple other reused melodies - like nearly all the Tuxedo Mask songs >D

I also find it amusing that htey used the LINK music for a slower song after that, and also they have a different (and cooler, IMHO) version of Sailor War! on the first Memorial of the Musical album for the first musical. =3

Unfortunately, one of the reasons why I'm not able to be around much is, I've had a really, really, really bad streak of bad luck in the last year.

Internet getting shut off because one of my room mates feels he doesn't have to pay his share of the bill if he wants to buy pizza and video games becomes an issue.

In addition, I have NO intention of casting anyone unless I actually get males auditioning. I've only gottn 2 or 3, and there are many more male parts than that. I need to find anothe rplace to look for auditions too, admittedly.

Also - I've said this from the start. This is a side project for *fun*. Eien no Kakusei is my main concern, and I have to put that on hold with every problem I face getting the website up and running. I finally get the layout built, and now I'm not able to login to edit the site, which is THERE but not accessable, and I can't get ahold of the person who gave me the space O.o And the cheapest I can get my own webspace - my dream - is for a hundred dollars for a year, or over thirty for 3 months.

I've also been adjusting to going from 2:30 pm to 11pm hours to 7 am to 3:30 pm hours at a very stressful new job, and I have an even more stressful living situation.

Excuses? maybe. Truth, really.

Also - considering the number of projects that no one ever finishes or that I had gotten cast for in the past and never heard from the producer again, I odn't feel really all that bad for disappearing for long stints, since I tend to have really, really good reasons for being gone.

I would LOVE auditions. Send them to me. If I haven't been aroun dfor a while, STILL send them to me. If you have fun doing it, you're gettting out of it what I'd hoped.

But if people want casting decisions ASAP? Well. I haven't goten that many auditioins for each part. I'm hoping to get at least 5 people per character up on the main post before deciding on anyone because that's a nice number and it gives people a chance.

I also need a kick in th epants to get going again. I've been through hell and back lately and I need something to take my mind off of it all. I'm not too worried about it, but I still don't want to make a definite cast for the Senshi until I get at least a Tuxedo Kamen. I'm being even pickier by wanting a male to play Diamond as well.

The deadline itself will still have to wait. I set a deadline for EnK's current episode and current auditions, and once that is done and over with I'll be more likely to set a deadline for this. I will probably deadline the Inner senshi only - people seem to like them, I wonder why?

If nothing else, before I make final casting I'll PM the people who did audition and see if they are still interested. If not, I'll deal withit when the time comes.

I'm aware people have lives, and aren't always into doing this stuff forever. Technically, I would prefer to choose from the peopel who are still interested even after all of this time than someone who will one day say "I dun wanna anymore" and disappear.

Edit: Kind of like, if someone popped up and wanted to finish something they cast me for way back when I first started and contacted me, I'd be like, Hells Yeah! And they'd be like Hells Yeah! And it would be cool. I like revived shows myself =3 but I'm mainly in all of this because I find it the most fun off work thing to do, and someday, maybe, just maybe, I'll wiggle my way into an actual anime.

Sera Myu was seperate from Sailormoon the animated series. The characters who were voiced by Men in Sailormoon tended to have female singers - my guess is, the theatre side of Japan is more female-oriented as even the Utena musical *shudders* had women playing every single male character (I dunno about Akio, but I know that all of the Council members were women).

Prince Diamond never had a song from the anime, just from Sera Myu, where he was played by a she.

I'm willing to take women for the younger males and the EXTREMELY girly ones, like I said above, like Fisheye. But Diamond is a very manly character for Takeuchi Naoko's characters - demanding, powerful, and very elegant, but also rather male. He had a decently deep voice in the anime, if I remember.

Don't get me wrong - I LOVED Diamond's song from Sera Myu, even if it WAS sung by a woman. But I feel that a male rendition could be just as beautiful.

If you can't get them there, I believe most of the songs are from Eternal Edition or Dark Side Edition, which you can find the ogg's for at sailormusic.net under the musical section.

Sera Myu are a series of Sailormoon Musicals :) Japan likes to make musicals out of EVERYTHING (Sailormoon, Utena, Bleach (?!?!?!!?!)). There are um, 13 so far? Since before their 2005 hiatus? A few of which are revisions of the older ones.

They aren't very well-known in the west because providing musicals isn't something a lot of places like to do? maybe? O.o

OMG >.< I feel horrible. I realize I was on the casted list for an inner ( I think ), and haven't been able to come here in FOREVER! And now I'm disqualified due to my email being bounced! Ohh I'm so sad now! This is something I've wanted to do in FOREVER, but I didn't know if this was ever going to move along either.. *sigh*.

But yeah, I cancelled my domain and my email of course would be gone. I should have updated my email address somewhere on here.

If there is anything else still open, I'd like to try for something else if possible *sniff*

It got cancelled because of that kind of an attitude.

NO ONE, RECENT POSTERS INCLUDED, was bothering to turn in their lines. I got tired of having to re-cast roles for people when there WERE people who had stuck around for the entire process. I had about HALF of the "lines" I required, and even the people who sent in recordings for their singles never botehered to send in their recordings for the group song.

There wasn't enough interest to fill the roles out, and there wasn't enough interest or motivation from the cast to bother to continue.

Please don't make smartass comments about my project, dead as it may be, before you even know why it was cancelled. If my cast doesn't give a rat's behind about the project they agreed to be in, I can't really do anything about that, now can I?
