I am looking for a translator that will be able to work on the second Death Note Rewrite, which I plan to fandub very soon. Currently, there are no fansubbers working on it or showing interest, so I suspect it may remain unsubbed and untranslated forever unless I take action. It is one-and-a-half hours long.

I really doubt it's gonna remain unsubbed 'forever' lol. But it's cool of you to take it into your own hands ;___; and I really wish you luck, but there is a lack of Japanese speakers here on the VAA so I'd recommend bringing this up on other communities as well..

I expect auditions to be held, when it gets done though...right 8D?

Oh yeah, I will XD

And unfortunately the first Death Note special is still unsubbed... only one group actually did it, and they went down the tubes directly afterwards and the fansub was lost in time. I had to rely on the actual episodes to know what they were saying, and as for the extra scenes, I had to rely on poorly done softsubs (like REALLY poorly done, I had to modify them so much, and sometimes just invent a line or two) that showed up briefly on Veoh.

What other communites should I post a request for? I don't know any of the sort except this one. ;-;

I'd suggest forums/chat rooms that are officially for a fan subbing group. It'll get it's notice by a fan subber eventually.

I can't wait. <3

IRC is probably the best bet to request a fansub. You can also go to anime suki which has a pretty large community (at least larger the vaa) that can speak japanese.

but not un-fandubbed. (http://voiceactingalliance.com/board/showthread.php?t=35577)

Yeah, that's mine if you didn't notice. That's why I explained how I had to use the episodes to get all the lines. But Rewrite 2 is almost entirely new scenes that don't appear in the episodes.

Oops! Well, that's what I get for zooming through these threads!

Hello - I'm new to these forums, just signed up so that I could reply to this post.

Are you looking for a professional translator specifically? If so, then I'm not the one who you want, but ... I am a bilingual college student looking to keep up on my Japanese and I will work for free on the condition that you would recommend me to other clients after this project.

My credentials are not super impressive, I have never taken the JPLT (日本語能力試験) and have never translated for money. I have lived in Japan and attended school as a Japanese student for 4 semesters, two at an elementary school in Osaka and two at Kumamoto University. The rest of my schooling has been here at home in the great Northwest. If you feel like you've got nothing to loose and want to send me the transcript, then I'll be happy to put some mental sweat into it. If that's not the case and you want to be more formal about it, then I totally understand.

Sincerely,

kiloecho7

Thank you for your reply, hopefully it hasn't been too long. It isn't a professional job, it's an informal translation. I would love for you to work on this for me, but unfortunately I don't have a transcript, only the original video. I hope that works for you, cause I don't know how to write most of the Japanese on the video. I'll PM you the link to the video.

Alright, just waiting for the link. Any preference on how it's formatted? I was just going to send you .pdf files for 10 minute increments as I get each done.

Thanks,
