Just wondering...how did everyone come up with their usernames on the forum?
Mine is from a Green Day song about a girl named Haushinka that Billie Joe (the lead singer/guitarist) met in Japan. So, seeing as I'm obsessed with Green Day and Japanese culture, it fit.
..How about everyone else?
Deiji

Ohhh, great idea to come up with this thread, Haushinka-chan! xD My name is just my real name in japanese. I found this site once that had normal english names translated into Jap. I can't remember the url! >< But i got the names for me and my friend, Rachel. So Daisy in jap is Deiji and Rachel in jap is Reicheru xD

I got mine from being able to imitiate Shadow the Hedgehog, and then I added the to the front for like wow and the voice at the end to give it mystery.

Hmmm... well, with my anime society I used to cosplay dark and often gothic fox-girls. Yami no Kitsune means fox of darkness. ^^
Plus Kitsune is my nickname with the Glasgow Anime society too.
Matt Cruea

Back when I was in the military, I went through basic training with a few guys I knew in high-school. We hung out together so often that Sarge called us "the Crew" so that whenever he said "Round up the Crew" we'd know who he was talking about. After finally seeing some action in Guantanamo Bay, the four of us decided to learn some more combat techniques while we were there, as all of us were focused on becoming stronger and better soldiers of fortune. Using a basic wrestling mat, the four of us came up with incredible new maneuvers that the U.S. Military still uses to this day in basic training exercises. The Sarge caught us, however, and made us put up the mats. From then on, he called us the "Mat Crew." I use the name "Matt Cruea" in honor of that whenever I register at hotels, and I now use it online in memory of my three fallen comrades. If only they hadn't opened that door, they'd still be alive today.
Either way, that's my story. I'm glad to finally get that out there.
Mine's a random sequence of letters from a license plate I saw. I like the "wrapped-up" look of it, because even though it's got the normal consonant-vowel-consonant pattern, the Q makes the U look like it isn't a vowel. (<==Does anyone else notice this stuff or am I just crazy?) Plus the letters are just cool!

Matt's story has to be the best story about a name I've ever heard. >D
My username.. well. My father's last name is "Wright" and my parents always wanted to name their girl "Nicole" or "Melanie." - Nicole won, thankfully.. and I go by "Nikki" in real life. So when you add the two together, you get my username.
Not as exciting as Matt's story, but at least mine's the truth. :P

My real name, lol. Fiona. C = First initial of my second name. :)
Basically loads of namebooks 'round my house and I found this indian and was flicking through it and I found Mitali which means friendship. I liked the name so I nicked it because I'm not allowed to use my real name online by my parents. It became my online name and people shortened it to Tali.

Runai

I use 'Runai' for most online/game stuff nowadays. It was just a name for one of the main characters in a story I started writing a long time ago... I may return to it soon ^^;
Rikka
11-18-2004, 09:52 PM
A spin-off of "Rika", from Cardcaptor Sakura, my first AVA role ever when I auditioned for the fandub at a website once known as clowreed.com. But since Rika is too common a name, I changed it to Rikka. And everybody gets the spelling wrong at one point or another, thus it reflects my first name. Also, the extra K is Rikka stands for the first letter of my first name. Also, if a 2 year old who didn't know how to pronounce words well were to say my name, exlucing my middle name, the joining of the end of my first name and the beginning of my last name would sound like "Rikka".
So...
Rikka = The last syllable of my first name and the first syllable of my last name when said by a 2 year old, or atleast someone with a thick accent who has trouble pronouncing Ls.
Rikka = A spin-off of "Rika", my first VA role (sometime in 2001)
Rikka = "Rika" with an extra K, because my name begins with a K.
Rikka = An unusual spelling of the more common name, my first name is in a similar situation. Everybody spells it wrong once in a while.
Rikka = I later found out that one of it's meanings was "snow". And I love snow.
Five reasons for you~

Koinu came from Inu, inu means dog, koinu means puppy, and I have to have some form of InuYasha's name in mine. ^^ Yukina comes from my #1 dream role! *coughYukinainYYHcough* >D;;
Tregster
11-19-2004, 03:14 AM
Well.. it all started in 1999.. when I first got access to the Internet. I joined this Transformers role playing chat... I was currently using the name, Megatron. There was so many Megatrons on the chat, I decided to change the name a little. I changed it to Tregamon.. which is Megatron with the tr and m switched. Keep in mind that I made this during the time Digimon was unheard of heh. Then with the outbreak of Digimon.. I was thought of by people as a digimon character.. so I then modified it once again to.. Tregatron. I then of course, later found voice acting and carried the name into that. I now go by Treg now more than ever so, maybe I should officially change it heh. A 4th time won't hurt heh. I currently use the name on all my site memberships.. and I even have it on my liscense plate ^^ How's that for an origin? lol

Ishtar

hmmm... for a while there I was known as Alyx (and sorta still am :p) which is my middle name (the x is silent).
And then, due to personal reasons ^_~ I changed from using a real name to using a name that I have used elsewhere for quite a while... which is Ishtar. Ishtar stems from an RPG character that I play in the Night World RPG (part of the online club NWCD). Actually, the full name is Ishtar Draven, but mostly... unless Ishtar is already taken... I use just the first name. Plus, since I use Ishtar in so many other places, it was easier for me to change it to just 1 name
Though I usually sign my name as Ishtar/Alyx anyway...

Heh..
Well, I always used to watch Rurouni Kenshin. It was the first anime I ever liked (And is still my fave, next to FB. <3) So I was always going around and finding all these different websites. Then I found this one website called Sakura something-i-cant-remember, and checked it out. I thought everything was so pretty! Everything was so pink and fluffy and beautiful. Only then, I was a stupid little kid who knew not the slightest bit of Japanese and hated light colors with a passion. -_-'
So then, later on in life, (XD) I found out that sakura meant "Cherry Blossom", and I always thought that sounded so cute. Then I tried to register at different places as "Sakura", because I thought that for an online name would be teh awesome, and it turns out, that so did half of the population. ;-;
Then when I came to the VAA, and was "OMG! VAA!" I was going to register, and didn't even TRY Sakura, because I figured it was already taken. So I stuck with, sakura_ai. Much to my dismay, I found out not much farther down the line, that Sakura was very much available.
A literal translation of "sakura_ai" is "Cherry Blossom_love" . XD Yes, pathetic. But it popped into my head, and was kinda catchy, so I adopted it. Then Deiji started calling me "Sakura-chan" and I was all like "Oh, ok." So I signed up on Flava as "Sakura-chan".
Fin. *gasps for breath*

Fine, I confess, I just wanted to try and be cool like Matt Cruea.
No, actually, the online name I used before this one was "Starsaber", and that was inspired by one of my favorite online writers/artists who then went by the name of "Starseeker"...and later on, she started using her real name, while I kept the same online alias....and eventually, I too wanted a change and thought "Matt Alan" sounded good, because its close to my full name, and its easy to remember....and I can fit MATALAN onto the license plate of my car. And thats the true story. XD;
hideko_dahlia
11-19-2004, 11:13 PM
Well. It started with this strange obsession with the guy in my avatar. Yes, he's a guy. So when I picked a Japanese name at Japanese camp, I chose "hideko". That name stuck, and I answer to it probably quicker than I do my real name (which is Kaylene, if you're wondering... Even though I do consider hideko my real name, too). Anyway, "dahlia" is one of my favourtie songs, and one of my favourite flowers. And it's very original when put together. search for hidekoDAHLIA on google, and all you'll come up with is ME! Bwahaha! I am special. .... >.>;; Yeah.
Oh, and the reason I don't capitalise the "h" is because... I don't want to! It looks better that way. And hide doesn't capitalise his name, either. ^^;; Teehee. I am a crazed fangirl.
Miki-Chan
11-19-2004, 11:24 PM
Hm. *copies from her website*
One of my first favorite manga series happened to be Marmalade Boy (a very nice series). The main character of that manga's name is Miki Koishikawa. So, when I started using an online alias, I chose "Miki-Chan Koishikawa". Eventually, it deteriorated down to "Miki-Chan", and stuck. ^^ Only a couple people remember the last name and actually know where it's from. ;P
I'm starting to simply go by "Miki" sometimes, but the "-Chan" has been there since the beginning, and keeps me from being confused with the other two Mikis, whom I have no idea where they've gone. o.o;
Josh Miller
11-20-2004, 01:28 AM
The Japanese Exchange student gave me the nickname. She said it's what I would be called in Japan. It was also a shortened version of my full online name taken from my favorite artist, and the creator of shaman king which I was reading a lot of at the time (2002)
Yoshitaka Amano + Eichiro Oda = Yoshitaka Oda
My other online name is "Killer Jack", which comes from Brittany (Whom I call Betty) forgetting my name (when I first met her) and just started calling me jack instead. It stuck through four years of theatre together. She'd always say I was an audience killer...in both good and bad ways. ^^;;
You can probably figure out the rest.
Frog32
11-20-2004, 03:51 AM
Came up with my name ages ago... Something to do with frogs and my (shitty) computer having 32 megs of ram.
Yeah... I dunno either.
Well, I changed it a few times but everyone I knew still knew me as Frog32, so I just decided to keep it.
Though I often just go by 'Josiah Tobin' (my real name) nowadays.
You know, you're all lucky I didn't choose 'FRoG32'... Ahh, way back when I thought improper capitalization was 'cool'.

Wow, you all have VERY interesting username orgins. ^^ Mine is pretty odd...
4 years ago, when I first joined neopets (Damn I hate that site) I had this account that I really liked. Then one day about a year or two ago I entered the Beauty Contest for fun, then got frozen because they said I was "cheating". I got really pissed off and said that neopets freezes people the way Americans pop popcorn in thier microwaves. That's where the popcorn half came from. Then the Icy half happened because I got frozen and freezing relates to ice. Icepopcorn didn't make sense, and Icypopcorn sounded cool, so that's what I stuck with ^^ I <3 my username. xD The end.

Pretty Little Me!
11-22-2004, 05:56 AM
The very first forum I ever posted regularly at was a message board on Stephan Gagne's fic site. (He is an awesome writer, BTW. His Slayers trilogy is still my favorite.) Since at the time, it was primarily a Slayers fandub, and I wanted to do something unique rather than just a character name or something, I chose "Pretty Little Me," after the part in one of my favorite episodes in Next where Amelia and Lina have to get in costume and sing. And it just sort of stuck there.

Rika is a bastardization of my real name. (Erica. Whee) It was the only thing I could thing of when I first signed up here because I'm lame and not very creative. I added the -chan because everyone kept confusing me with Rikka...
Didn't help.
And I've tried to get people to call me by my real name, but Rika just seems to stick with me I guess =/
Oh, and I was using the name Sokari Kurari for a short period of time. It was just a name I came up with by combining Sora, Kairi, and Riku's names. I got bored of that name really quickly, but I still use it for my LJ and e-mail because I'm to lazy to change it =/

I was really obsessed with Chichiri from Fushigi Yuugi YEARS ago. Therefore I replaces Suzaku with Chichiri.
Chichiri no Miko.
Then I shortenned it to Chichiri Miko.
Then someone started called me Chimichan.
And then topleka started the whole Chinomi thing....
yes... O_o
Let's see....
My parents thought that it'd be a good idea to name me after my dad's stepfather. I used it as a VA name after going through several others because I figured there wouldn't be too many people with my name out there....
Maverick
11-25-2004, 06:13 AM
Maverick....ah, there's a long story.
Back in my former home in Western New York State, I went to a small 60's age Middle School (Looked like a bomb shelter). Now, keep in mind, this was after a recent move from Massachusettes when I was very young. We moved in, I had no friends, was prone to being picked on, the works. As such, I stuck pretty much kept to myself.
Now, it was at this time that my ambitions for being a fighter pilot were at their peak, shortly after seeing the film Top Gun (My name is somewhat connected, but not entirely to that film). I developed an unconventional way of going about life. They picked on me, I took on a passive aggressive stance of non-violence which simply irritated them more. Never did I throw a blow. And thus, for this unconventional method, by walking the outer ring of social circles, (and by Top Gun), I was dubbed Maverick.
This would carry over to my new teenage home in California ,where, ironically, my High School Team's name is the 'Mavericks'.

SatansLittlePenguin
11-27-2004, 01:33 AM
Well... Yah see I'm the leader of the Embraced Satanic Platoon, or ESP for short. Which is a small but 1337 group of Vampire Penguins that have been trained in both infiltration tactics as well as forensic investigation. It is my Platoon that will bring about the end of days. That being the case I'm Satan’s right hand man. Which has earned me much jealousy from Hells other minions, and given them reason to mock me. Their nickname for me is. “Satans Little Penguin” But seeing as how I find the name ever so amusing, I use as my Internet handle when trying to corrupt the Internet masses.
Ooorr.... The name is something of a tribute to my Favorite band of all time, GWAR!
I will leave you to work out truth from fiction...
Minty
11-27-2004, 08:54 AM
Oooh, cool deshou!
Um..I don't remember exactly how I came to be using the name 'Minty', but it was a name given to me at a time when I was conferring particularly disliked names upon others. It also became my k3wLi3z!!!11!1 name (the k3wLi3z!!!11!1 being a three-girl group formed in a Science class two years ago -- it's an angsty schoolgirl thing).
So I guess since then I've been using it for most online and other anonymous things where I don't mind so much being known as myself. Anonymously. Very creative, ha ha.
Erm -- Maverick, you didn't come from the old MGOForum did you? *slightly bemused*
Cassie
11-29-2004, 11:17 PM
It was a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away....
My parents had given what was for me, at the time of my infancy, a hard name to pronounce. In other words, I had trouble saying "Cassandra". So I said "Cassa" which evolved into "Cassie". Thus my nickname was born.

My name? A little late I know, but I was given my name by my friend the ` in it is a typo I made when I reregistered after the second or third more of the VAA Board. When I was first learning it I would always say "In the mir ray" and remember to get rid of the "the".
Swift
11-30-2004, 07:10 PM
I don't exactly remember how I decided on my name. There's a band that I used to listen to called "Swift"... and I've always wanted to be quick, or something. Blah. I can't think, I don't know.

why is it super...?
hM.......
i remember katie asked me this lol....
i thikn it all started back when i was a kid in grade.... 7? when i first register for my email, someone used the name "Harris" (well obviously there are alot of harris-es) so then out of the blue, i just picked "super" to go infront of it (so i can be superior of all other harris-es, [evil grin])
That's how my username come from, for almost eveyrthing =D

Radiance makes me think of light, especially gold, which I like. Gold, silver, treasure, just light. "Radiant" is an adjective so I put in Paws" after it because I love dogs. Don't et my wrong, I like a bunch of other animals such as cats but dogs are primary.

>D Should I even bother....
Mine actually came from an oooold fanfic idea too .... since I was in a Ruroni Kenshin craze back then i hadta come up w/ a name that would work w/ adding "-dono" at the end o' it. *facefaults* And well, whilest i was visiting Japan the name popped up.
And for all o' those who have bothered moi and were thinking about bothering moi--
No. Mizura does NOT mean anything. Thxkbai.
Lila is my middle name which i decided to use as my first name shortly after my 21st birthday. Though my whole family calls me Kitty which is a nickname my Grandma called me when i was little (before she passed away)
So online and irl i go by Lila or Kitty :P
My name is actually a two parter...during our japanese class my friend Justin and I both decided to take the class together and we became rather popular as a whole. The teacher liked us and we started to get little nick names, Kuro being my own, and Shiro being my friend Justin's. Sort of to describe the polar opposites we were...dunno why.
We later actually died our hair black and white and came to school in all black and white to fool around with her, she thought it was funny at least ^^.
So since then I have always been Kuro, I use it for MMORPG's, it's my stage name, it's my nickname...I use it for almost everything.

That's great. I wish we had Japanese names in my class, I'd SO be Kagome. But it's a college class so no fun stuff :(
Klaymen1
12-30-2004, 04:04 PM
Back when I first moved to Illinois (I was still in highschool) me and a couple of friends were hanging out on the fourth of July and it sucked cause all we had were these stupid black snakes that looked like turds when you lit them. So me being the boy scout that I am got out my anarchy cook book and made some real explosions. They started calling me Claymore and then when the police were following a lead on who blew up a porta potty they changed it to Clayman and then again to Klaymen to make it street. And then this game came out called The Neverhood and the main character had the same name. I thought it was a sign from god and the name has stayed ever since. :)

Plain and simple: I'm a Johnny Depp psycopath :D Not very creative, I KNOW
I got my IRL nic name, Kat, from the girl the casper movie xD (My real names Kaitlynn, so, ya know.). I had it written on my gameboy case, my friends saw it, and I've been Kat ever since. I don't think anyone knows my real name anymore. wahhhhhh ;_;
Darth Mongoose
12-30-2004, 06:09 PM
Ehehehee....
Well, the mongoose part came from a friend, since I'm small and fierce, and when I went online, the first thing I ever logged onto was starwars.com because the caption competition is great etc. So for that I named myse;f 'Darth Mongoose' to make it 'starwarsy', of course, on all susequent things I kep this username, why? Because I'm an idiot who actually believes they may bump into the same person they've met on one forum or whatever, on another. I keep my username the same so I'm always recognisable.
The other thing on this particular forum is that my name is Kate, and we have a Kate and a Katie already ^_^'

Lyssie
12-30-2004, 09:00 PM
Um, well, my name is Elyse. My friends and family call my Lys, as a nickname. Somehow that got turned into "Lyssie" when people were patronizing or squeeing at me. Mostly I think it started as a term of endearment from Danae, actually XD;;
Shizuragirl
01-01-2005, 04:19 PM
Oh, and the reason I don't capitalise the "h" is because... I don't want to! It looks better that way. And hide doesn't capitalise his name, either. ^^;; Teehee. I am a crazed fangirl.
hehe ^^ hide... ^^ hehe *coughs* Anyway... -.-;;;;
My name comes from a character in a fanfiction of mine. The character's name is based from Shizuru from YYH, who I was obessessed with a few years ago ^^;;;;, and... Yea... :x The Shizura character in my fic is a secondary character that just appears every once in a while but I think she's most like me so... Yea... And... The 'girl' part comes because when I tried to register at this board (not this board... another board... like... this as a general term... *dies* I'm a horrible explainer -.-;;;) the name "Shizura" was already taken so I just added "girl" to the end and it stuck and I use it for everything because it's easy to remember and I'm too lazy (and uncreative) to think of another name XD I'm lame :x
Henageshi
01-01-2005, 05:45 PM
That's sweet, Matt! ^^
I first heard my name when I was 13 on the Yu Yu Hakusho movie, Poltergeist Report. There's a character on there named Hinageshi. My friend and I got so stinkin attached to that anime movie and then the anime series. We would pick out which characters we would be and I would pick HInageshi because she reminded me so much of myself. So I began to use that as my computer name, only I changed the spelling to make it my own. And that is how I came to be. ^^
Katie
01-05-2005, 01:58 AM
I can't believe I missed this thread!
I picked "Katie" because I think it's the coolest, prettiest name ever. And it works quite well with "Princess" in front of it. My real name is Eugena. Princess Eugena is pretty cool, too, but nothing beats "Princess Katie".
For my screenname, I dropped "Katie" for the numbers 3, 2, 4, 0, and 5. When you add these numbers together, it's the number of boyfriends I had... in kindergarten. Previously, I was known as ChibiKat. Chibi because I am incredibly short in stature and child-like in appearance, and "Kat" because I'm pro-white, and every C word making the "k~" sound should be spelled with a K. Not to mention I just love kats. So fluffy! I just kan't get enough of those kute, kuddly kats.

Chris Nagy
01-05-2005, 04:35 AM
CNagy is obvious Codename: Nagy. Nagy is an ancient word in Hungarian meaning large, grand, regal, important, and lordly. It also works as a title, so in some circles I'm known as Mr. Big. In the UK, I am Christopher Regal. In porn, I am Chris top her Large. A man of many names and almost as many backstories, I'm a mystery that even I, Christ the Lordly, cannot figure out.
(Btw- don't crucify me if I offended your religious beliefs with that last one; that part (and only that part) was a joke.)
Prissi
01-26-2005, 02:02 AM
My full first name is Priscilla. Yeah, my parents decided that. It comes from the bible, as in Priscilla and Aquilla (and you know, it was never Aquilla and Priscilla, Priscilla always seemed more.. hm, equally, if not more prominent, which is strange because you know how things were in those days? and I'm a rather bold, stand-up-for-what-I-believe-in type of person, and we all joke that I will never stand in my husband's shadow, and I hope he won't stand in mine. :p) And everyone used to call me Prissy for short. I hate how that looks. It's a *word*, and the meaning of it isn't exactly hmmm, what you would call complimentary. So I used to spell it Prisci. That looked cuter. But I always hated my name. Too long, people couldn't spell it or say it right... got made fun of a lot in elementary school (for various reasons... ekhm)
Long story short, this guy called Mike Nelson (Maria and all the others that I he introduced me to at the time call him GG, GundamGuyver in short, and yes, it was through him that I met Maria and thus got started VAing) on the very first RPG I ever played online thought it was really neat my name was Priscilla, as in "this really cool character from Bubblegum Crisis", and so he asked me if he could call me Priss for short, after her. Well... I don't know what happened, but I guess I really took a liking to that name. So I was called Priss... oh, I guess he introduced me to Maria as Priss, and back then I was just getting into AIM and things, so I didn't really know anyone... so I guess the name stuck, and like I said, I just had an affinity for the name, it was cool, short, and cute, and I started having my parents and sisters call me Priss, and eventually some of my classmates that I met after started calling me Priss, but a lot of my teachers still called me Priscilla, my other relatives still call me Prisci (which I insist on spelling "Prissi" =P)... but here in college I'm mostly "Priss"...
Long story short, huh? xD
...yeah, TamTu, I need some TP... our dear Kiknimikey may be in need of some, so I can share! :p

LionelRGuy
02-01-2005, 02:49 AM
Well, mine's actually a combination of 2 of my most popular nicknames (at the time that I made this new combo, anyway): Lionel (which I got from my "father" when I was pulled up from middle school to be in the high school production of "The Music Man") and Ry-Guy (my main go-by name around here and everywhere, and I got it cuz...... well, my real name's Ryan H. Nelson [hence my OTHER most popular nickname, Nelly, and no, it's not cuz of the f***ing rapper, as people who've called me that since 2-3 years before he was even around will ask me to this day because they're not dumbasses at all], so yeah).
Basically, I made it for when, my freshman year in hs, we did "Grease", and as a gift for our director, we made a "yearbook" with all of our pics in it with our stage names - those of us WITHOUT official stage names had to make something up, and I couldn't decide between Lionel and Ry-Guy. So finally, I came up with the brilliant solution to combine the 2.
And so it lives on: Lionel + Ry-Guy = Lionel R. Guy

fukkatsu
07-14-2005, 02:27 AM
One day this Midget Monk came to America and moved next door to me in a small shack on a very steep hill by the creek. He was a wise and short little man and possessed a very hard kick to the shins. He noticed one day that I was coming up the hill on a vigorous walk and said "you are a short little one like myself with many melons... you have been born to me today as was your destiny and thus I give you the name Fukkatsu" and then he kicked me hard in the shins. After that day the midget monk got eaten by a rabid sparrow and was gone just as quickly as he had came... so I vowed to use the name that was give to me by the sweet vicious midget monk everyday for the rest of my life.
I also killed and ate the sparrow.
Hawkeye_GGK
07-14-2005, 03:30 AM
Copied and pasted from my journal, since I took the time to actually write the whole story out.
---------------------------------------------------------------
So I always have people asking me what the deuce GGK means when they first start talking to me, so I figured I'd just go ahead and post up the story and meaning behind it here.
So there Chris was, minding his former Electronics Boutique store at the mall and handling customers as they came and went. At the time, there existed another game store down in the spot where Electronics Boutique had been about a year before when it was still called Walden Software. This new store was called Game Source, if memory serves one.
Anywho, Chris' friends worked down at the other game store and their names were Guy "The Muff Diver" Muff and Bruce "Just call me Bruce" Haupt. Now, Bruce and Guy's store also carried inside more than just video games. They also carried many different types of cards from collectible card games such as Pokèmon and MAGIC: The Gathering. Anywho, many of the "Geek Girls," as Bruce and Guy were accustomed to calling them, from the local comic book shop would always come in and do dealings in cards with them. These girls would also typically frequent my ELectronics Boutique in order to absorb my vast knowledge of all things video game and my growing knowledge of anime.
This continue for some time before Bruce, Guy and Chris went out to lunch in the foodcourt together one day. It was there that Bruce and Guy bestowed a startling revelation to Chris!
It seems that the "Geek Girls" who were always coming into Game Source were constantly asking them about the "Cute Guy" who worked down at Electronics Boutiqe. Chris was naturally flabberghasted at this notion but it seems that it was indeed true for other Game Source employees (Friends) Karen and Other Chris also confirmed this story later. Bruce and Guy enjoyed the stories much and much teasing of Chris comenced because of the predicament. Therefore, Bruce and Guy decided that Chris needed a cool nickname as they had for themselves and since this bit of information was too "juicy" to pass up, Chris then became referred to as the Geek Girls King from henceforth.
This name continued for some time as Chris worked at Electronics Boutique for over three years and even after Game Source had closed and moved on, Bruce and Guy were always there to remind Chris of his status with the ladies of the Nerdly variety.
Now some of you may be asking yourselves, "What the fuck was the purpose/reason for writing that crap in the third-person?!" Well the answer is quite simple really.
Shut the Hell up and keep your opinion to yourself.

Well as you can tell from my name I love Sailor Moon. But I wanted to add a twist to it so I changed the name to what it would be in spanish or espanol per say. I grew up on Sailor Moon and I wish they never would have stop the series, I still miss it today.

Neriah is hebrew for something- I don't remember what. I usually use the name Chikotli if I don't use the name Neriah. Chikotli has more of a story because I was reading Dostoyevsky the year I made it up for a character in a story I was working on with a friend. Russian names seem so harsh, it's like the language uses too many consonants.

Mukashi mukashi (long long ago), when I first discovered the wonder that is the World Wide Web, I learnt that people had these things called 'on line names'. "Wow," I thought, "I get to call myself whatever I like!", and so began the long search for a name (you see, this is why I always left pet-naming to my mum. It takes me way too long). And then one night, I had a dream... I had been reading up on Japanese culture the day before, and had learnt that the Cherry Blossom, or 'Sakura' tree, is in full bloom for just a few short days, and in Japanese culture the fleetingness of the cherry blossom represents sadness of the fleetingness of life (or something along those lines. Opinions differ!), which is probably why in that dream I found myself sitting in a meadow looking up to the night sky. As I was watching the stars, I noticed one getting really bright until suddenly it seemed to gently explode, but with no sound. The fragments of star turned into Sakura petals, which drifted down from the sky like snow. And then I knew what my name would be...
soundcage
07-26-2005, 07:10 PM
Well, soundcage started as Ribcage, a small logo I used back in 1988 for these cheesy comics I drew. In the early 1990s I changed the logo to soundcage when I would write music for piano and make fake radio shows. For the rest of that decade it was a subdued patch I made and sewed onto my kevlar helmet when I was a grunt in the Army (US). After that, it was lost for awhile, since everyone had started calling me 'Rwy'n'. Soundcage is now the name of my website.

08-05-2005, 11:18 PM
A long long time ago. . .when you couldn't even get anime on DVD (or if you did, it was even more riduculously expensive then it is now). . .there was (still is I guess) a great (very short!) anime called Ruin Explorers. To this day, I still LOVE it! (Maybe I should do a radioplay? Hmm. . .). Anyway, there is this beautiful, but kinda of bitchy (but still sweet at the same time) sorceress named Rasha. I kinda act and look like her and her name was cute anyway, so that's what I go by online usually (although many people use my real name too - "Kat").
I think my name says it all really ^_____^ no need for an explaination then, eh?
Charil
08-11-2005, 02:16 AM
It's my name! :D Pronounced with a soft "sh" sound, like "shame" or "shade, NOT a "ch" sound like "chew" or "charcoal"! >< I rather dislike the way the latter sounds ^^;
Klepto_Bysmal
08-11-2005, 03:32 AM
My name originally derived from a quote from Dave Thomas in the movie Rat Race, where he asked a prostitute to get into a hot tub filled with Pepto Bismol. From there I just changed the first part to "Klepto" for kleptomaniac, because I was thinking about rogues at the time, and "Bysmal" for abysmal, which is in reference to every sports team at my high school. A bit random, but it works.
lol!
How I got my name.
I came across a gothic lolita site. The owner of it was name: Fairuza.lol
I forgot what it meant though. :)
It's Farsi for "turquoise" iirc.

Jay is my nickname so I thought it fit. ^ ^ My real name is Jessica though.
Cheshire
08-12-2005, 05:29 AM
Mine comes from the fact that I've just always loved the "Alice in Wonderland" storyline, and the Cheshire Cat has always been my favorite character.^^ Plus, I've been told I'm similar to the character in several ways.
HiLoPe
08-12-2005, 07:03 AM
Mine is rather difficult to explain.
First of all, my nickname is an abbreviation for "Hilflose Person",
which translates into English as something as "Helpless Person".
Now, to understand this you have to see that I'm a member of
the German Red Cross. We do some rescue service (as well as
the fire-brigades). And this expression is used for someone, who
can't help himself anymore.
Very specific, but I think it fits - in some ways...

My friends call me Panda and I love Pandas. Mine is so boring :P
Little_Phoenix
08-13-2005, 01:02 AM
Well, i like phoenixes. I associate with them so well, soaring high one day, nothing but smoldering ashes the next. I guess i'm a little bipolar. I do astrology and i'm a fire element, so there's another connection. Also, i think they're often misunderstood in the cultures that adopted them- their firey nature makes people think they are a destructive force, but really, any destruction they cause serves a purpose: allowing new life. it's like how forest fires, when kept under control, are not only good, but necessary. In the cultures that originated them, they are not misunderstood, they are signs of prosperity and rebirth.
The "little" part of my name is just bcs. i'm... well, kind of little :)
AzuDragon
08-13-2005, 02:12 AM
Azudragon is a combination of Azura and Dragon. Azura means sky and I always like looking to the sky, and white birds, soaring.
Dragon...well I like dragons...A LOT lol. Hence Azudragon.

GenesisAvalon
08-14-2005, 04:33 AM
Ha! Um... anyone who knows about my current production knows that Genesis Avalon is the title superhero of it! And her whole deal is that she's the last Priestess of Avalon - hence, in some ways, the Genesis being the creation of her time as Avalon. Um... being the flaming pagan that I am, I've always felt drawn to the Druid religion, and especially the Isle of Avalon. So, since I was developing the story when I joined the board and didn't know if I'd be making it a play or not, I thought it'd be fun to BE Avalon. Now the play's being made and wonderful Laura Post is voicing Avalon, but I play Avalon's mentor, who used to be Avalon herself. SO.... in a roundabout way... it still works out! :-P
PrinceAuron
08-16-2005, 03:36 PM
Prince Auron is the main character in my novel. He's also the first character I ever played a Dungeons and Dragons game using.
It's a bit deeper than that, but oh well. Also because I like Final Fantasy X's Auron, but that's the main reason.

I wanted to find a new username because someone...who's know one of my friends, had said something to me that I didn't like to one of my other names. I was all Harry Potter-ish back then, and I used to RP as a character names Mystique Black. I just switched them around because I do not have any relation to Sirius Black(=P), so that became BlackMystique which is now the username I use for a whole bunch of things.

Anywho
How did I come up with Masaka_Naraku : Ahem. Before I joined forums. I was known as Ratchet_Sango. But that had to change.
It started when I was getting an MSN Account. I wanted to have a Name called Masaka_"something".......Then I thought of Masaka_Naraku. The Name was perfect. Since Masaka means "It cant be" (or something like that) and Naraku means hell or abyss, I thought of a translaton of my name hehe "It can't be hell" Haha
Nice meaning for a username? Haha!
That was last year when I hated Naraku though.
Unlike Now. Im a crazy Naraku fan. Don't let me tell you how it all began....XD
Most people call me Masaka and a few call me Naraku. Only one person has called me Mas ^_^
But Masaka_Naraku's meaning has changed. Masaka is like my Official online nickname and Naraku.........well I'm a crazy Naraku fan Muha!!!
I'm proud of my username so Nyah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Menchi
09-06-2006, 07:53 PM
I chose Menchi, because Menchi is the ultimate Anime Animal, i mean she fires Mini-Guns, Drives Cars, tries to chisel out of the apartment to escape, i mean c'mon
anyway, Yes Menchi rules, even though menchi's a girl
Zankoku no Yami
09-06-2006, 10:11 PM
Zankoku no Yami
Now you see, I used to go by TyDestin, by email only. But one day i was like 'someone might steal it!' and yeah, i know i was stupid to think that, but i was like 11! Anyways, i soon changed it to ZeroDestin. Which i used for a long time through ICQ, AIM, MSN, and YIM. But one day, i joined a forum my friend wanted me to join. So i decided to be EVIL. And i made up a name she that would fool her and make her NEVER think it was me! So i took out my dictionary and found "Cruel: Zankoku and Yami: Darkness". So i put them together! Well, then i screwed with her a little and acted like someone who had ALL the same interests as her and she was all happy and then after a bunch of hinting she FINALLY figured out it was me.
After that the name REALLY grew on me. More so, when people shortend it to Zank (They said i suck for having such a long name and wether i like it or not, I'm Zank). I dunno what it is, but after that, i fell in love with the name and refused to have anyone call me by anything other than Zank (or anything along those lines. Like Zanky, Zanky-poo, Zanky-sense or just plain Zankoku no Yami). It soon became my forum name. Soon it also became my MSN name. None of my other messangers have really changed. Besides AIM, which is AlexanderDestin. So now i have a different name for every messanger and its a pain @_@ but thats another story!!!!!
Long story short, the name sounds cool, i wanted to fool someone, it grew on me, and it then became my official forum name. THE END!!
GravitasLost
09-07-2006, 07:33 AM
Why GravitasLost gravitas = seriousness, or gravity in the sense of how grave or dire a situation is. Since voice acting and making flash is more of a fun thing for me the idea of gravitas lost is basically saying I'm taking it easy, not worrying, and not so serious when I'm voice acting.
You can laugh at me now.. :)

YingFaStar
09-08-2006, 02:14 AM
blink.
Ying Fa = Cherryblossom in Chinese (Canto) = Sakura = YAY CCS!
And YingFa sounds a bit plain so I added Star to it. Originally it was cherryblossomstar, but that sounds really long, annoying, and dumb...and nobody knows what YingFa is unless they're as obsessed with the name Sakura as me, they're Chinese, or if I tell them 8D

Konekomanga
09-09-2006, 10:39 AM
I got mine from being a dork!
Actually, I have a feeling that if I manage to get my stories published one day, I'll be working with one other person or a team, like CLAMP. So, at one point, I jokingly named this nonexistent team "Konekomanga." Koneko coming from the fact my name is Kat.
Yeah, it was a goofy process that resulted in "Konekomanga" which I now use as an Internet handle all over the place.
lightofhope18
09-09-2006, 11:20 AM
My name is from a mixture of anime/manga references. "Light of Hope" is menition in different animes (i.e. Sailor Moon, Yu-Gi-Oh, etc.) I first thought of it when I saw the final episode of Sailor Moon a long time ago and really liked the title they gave Cosmos (since she is my favorite manga SM character) and it grew on me. (I soon started hearing "the light of hope" in other anime series that would refer to some character with powers to save the world usually....)
The "18" part usually has people thinking I'm 18 years old. No, that's not it. My birthday is on the 18th of October and I have never met anyone who has the same birthday as me, so I find it special (other than its my birthday...)
"LoH" came from Windy* who is so creative! I love the nickname so much! ^^

My...parents?
I'd have to agree with that one. I always love to see the names people invent for themselves. Such a wonderful window on the psyche. Not so much who they are, as what they wish to be? Or that which they love and wish to get closer to.
It's comforting to know that most of us at least think on similar lines. :)
There is hope for gentle negotiation yet.
Adidaas
09-10-2006, 01:23 AM
Uh, I think I'm pretty much my name already. I'll just copy what I post in the closed one.
One day I bought a tangtop from Adidas and it had a typo spelling Adidaas. Even though Adidas has a meaning mine doesn't, but that doesn't stop people from saying my name means
"All Day I Dream About Ass Sex"
or even
"All Day I Dream About Animal Sex"

Rabids Squirrel
09-12-2006, 10:48 AM
Though I tell everyone my name DOESN'T mean I'm rabid *witch it doesn't ><*
I actually got the first part from a song I made up in first grade after reading a horror book, entitled "Rabid squirrels are dancing around me". Then I became a squirrel furry and got the name "Rabids" by putting together Rabid and Squirrel together ^o^
So now I'm the totally unpopular Rabids T. Squrrel! =D
-Tsuki-
09-16-2006, 04:39 AM
Erm... lets seee.... I WAS dubbingthestars cuz that was my production that got me here... then Tsuki came from back when I started the internet I went by Tsuka, which I came up with off the top of my head (only Zelina until now has known that x3). Then a few years later I got a Japanese to English dictionary and found out "tsuka" means broom. x3 So I decided to be Tsuki Hime, Moon Princess, off of Sailormoon, and then Hime was too tideous to type out, so I went by Tsuki and voila.

KitsuneSqueak
09-23-2006, 03:59 PM
I don't remember if I ever posted here. XD
Anyway, KitsuneSqueak is actually my fox dogtoy. >_> It squeaks when you squeeze it...and...it's shorter than CelestialKitsune (syllable-wise) which I used when I was new. Um...the dogtoy means a lot to me because one of my best friends in Pgh gave it to me before I moved. (I don't have a dog, though.)
Tsuki Yamamoto
09-25-2006, 01:37 AM
Well back in 2005 ( or 2006 i'm not sure) me and my friend were really into the anime Inu-Yasha. So, we would role play as the characters through e-mail ( She didn't have msn at the time) Anyways I thought in the groups search maybe they could meet a half demon on there quest or whatever And I needed a name for her so I called her Tsuki ( "cause I knew it ment moon) And her last name, Yamamoto, was chosen from a search on goggle I did about popular Last names used in Japan. :XD
( This was copied and pasted from another thread here that got closed ..:-D..^^;; )
I chose the name Akio from Kikuta Akio a character from the tales of the otori trilogy. He's the bitter rival of Takeo one of the main characters in the trilogy. I chose him just because he's his rival and I just like how his names pronounced.

Saixer
09-28-2006, 11:33 PM
My name comes from when I was a Zoids New Century fanboy (I'm still a fan though; bring it back, Cartoon Network, bring it back). Because it was my first encounter with zoids, it was the first time I ever saw the Lightning Saix. It was instantly my favorite zoids, as it was a giant, mechanical version of my favorite animal, the cheetah. So, as a tribute to the best zoid ever, I dubbed myself Saixer.
My other nickname, "nohups", is a linux command.
what a geek. a 1334 GEEK
Although my real name is Sarah, I saw this GREAT anime when I was 13. It was the first anime I saw on DVD and that was the time I started voice acting. I'll never forget Bondage Queen Kate...
Jiffy
09-30-2006, 08:58 PM
My username is a shortend version of jiffyjimbothe3. (It was supposed to be pronouced jiffyjimbothe3rd, but I didn't feel like adding the "rd" to it.)
I'm not exactly sure why I used that though...
L. Mikia
10-05-2006, 03:25 AM
Mine is from a book :D On the cover it has a Star and a stick figure girl drawn on it (^^) I was either going to be StarGirl or PocketMouse (the name StarGirl gave herself before StarGirl)
However....even though my s/n is StarGirl I still slap "Miki" all over the place and Miki is my birth name given to me by my mum and dad. (I have to wonder why people frequently ask me "Miki....is that short for something or is that your full name?"--could I answer "My real name is Michael but it sounded too boyish so I shorten it."?)
Providence
12-11-2006, 07:41 AM
Providence is a word I like.
I like to change names often though. I already changed my name on most forums, so I'm feeling the regret with this name already :O
Mirielle
12-11-2006, 08:08 AM
Mirielle - 3 reasons.
1. Mirielle is the french form of my original name!
2. It is the name of my character in a friend and I's original manga. I would originally have gone with Mika, as it was the character's original name but when we decided to make it set in Australia...we changed the names!
3. It's a cool name...In my opinion!
Yup. That's it. I never even thought of the Mireille from .hack and the one from Noir. That's why my name is not spelled Mireille but Mirielle!
And they all lived happily ever after.
Shintarou Inuzuka
12-11-2006, 02:32 PM
My screen name is actually the name of a character I created for a role-playing forum. The character himself was sorta the result of someone pointing out I only had completely human-looking characters, and since there were catboys and catgirls running around everywhere on that forum, I decided to make a dog-type character (though to avoid being a knock-off of Inu Yasha, I made it so that he's not a youkai but rather the result of a genetic experiment). I also tried to make him about as "bishounen" as a character can possibly get. Incidentally, this I think was the first forum in which I used Shintarou Inudzuka as a screen name. I was kinda torn between using my name from that forum, using this screen name or using the name of another one of my characters, but in the end I decided to use this one.
169-PD
12-11-2006, 02:45 PM
Simple. I's the short form of my Production studio, 169 Productions. PD is short for ProDuctions. The 169 came as a random number I made up, then I made it as a mathematical surprise, and a symbol of luck. 13x13=169 is how i came up with the 13 squared part.

Sasu-kitty
12-11-2006, 06:03 PM
Wow, I thought I posted in here >_<
Mine just came up a few months before I came here.
I was known as Sasuke for a while around the convention Hau-chan and I help run. One of the girls in the group was talking to me, and my obsession with cookies came up. She said something like "That's adorable. Like a kitty. A Sasuke-kitty." Then I sat there for a second and was like "...Huh?" And she said "Sasu-kitty!"
And the rest is history.
Luchia
12-11-2006, 09:11 PM
I chose my name because Luchia is my nickname in real life^^ people call me Luchia for a nickname cuse she is my fav character^^ but some people call me Haruhi from Ouran High school, BUT I love Luchia the best^^
x3 Mine's after one of my characters...I just came up with his name, randomly though, so I guess it's completely random xD!

Shagster Shan
12-13-2006, 04:37 AM
Mine is a bit of a mix of things.
Since grade 6 and until this day I've had the nickname Shaggy. I got the name because:
a) there was another guy in class with the same first name as me, so we needed differentiation
b) I started growing my hair out longer/scruffier then (ah, the 90's)
c) we started referring to some of us in class by our last names if they were interesting sounded; mine being Shanahan, mixing that with the hair, and "Shaggy" just kinda sounds natural.
But even things like nicknames will get mixed around for variety sake; I had Shaggy, Shagster, Shagaman, Shagadelic, Shagarino, Shagarific, Shaggy the Dog, etc.
So for online, I preferred taking Shagster for usernames and such (as Shaggy is pretty much my real name now...).
But "Shagster" alone seemed a little too common, so I also grabbed some of my last name to make it more...personal.
Therefore, Shagster Shan.
...of course I was a little worried about any other connotations that could come from the name, as the good folk across Xbox Live sometimes assume ('cause it doesn't really mean much in Canada)
Self given nickname.
B = First letter of my last name
P = First letter of my First name
Simple as that.

12-14-2006, 06:42 PM
It's the name of a character from a fighting game I played a while back. And he was my best character and I liked the way his name sounded.
Myokei-kun
12-14-2006, 08:19 PM
Ok, um, this isn't going to be all that interesting, but when I was like 12 or 13 years old, I had some lame aol screenname that I can't even remember. So I went to an aol chat room, and picked the first name I saw. It was FireBlazer or something like that. So I switched it to BlazingFire456, the numbers are just random.
I joined here with BlazingFire456 and recently got my name changed to Blaze since I think it looks better.

12-21-2006, 03:54 PM
Ever since I was little, 9 has been a "lucky" number for me. So much so that it became a nickname...Kyu.
I started to teach a Japanese class and some of my friends were in it, so as a joke, my nickname changed to Kyu-sensei. Now that I'm only a little ways off of becoming a full-fledged teacher, I thought it was kinda funny and so it just stuck. Kyu-sensei translated to Teacher Nine.

judebert
12-21-2006, 06:33 PM
Judebert is now my official name everywhere, because somebody finally stole "SlothMan" on a site where I really needed a login. Hopefully "Judebert" will last a little longer.
Sigh... SlothMan was such a wonderful ID. Well, goodbye to it. At least it lasted longer than "StarFox" (which I had before the video game, those ripoffs!).

I've come to realize that there's now a period at the end of my name. It wasn't there before...how odd...
Lilium
01-02-2007, 01:09 AM
The LONG story -
My friends and I have always given each other nicknames from the most recent anime we've watched and identified ourselves to. For example, we watched Utena, and my friend Nida was in personality like Utena, so she is the Utena of the group, and I'm the Anthy because of my walk-all-over-me personality. I'm more like movie Anthy now though, which is equally scary, if you really pay attention to Movie Anthy |D
So, we watched Battle Athletes, and it was decided I'm a lot like Akari Kanzaki, and Nida called me Kanzaki a few times. Thus the last name.
The first name I made up as a handle in high school. My first and last initials are J and C, which if pronounced in Japanese and written in Romanji would be "Jeii Shii". Simple! Jeishii. SO you're just calling me JC and lisping when you say my name on here >D It was added to Kanzaki on my namebadge for the first Sakura Con I ever attented, and has been a handle ever since.
I use Lilium more now, but in honor of always using Jeishii in the past, it remains Jeishii here to this day.
What a boring story I have |D I wonder if I posted here before and just forgot considering how old this thread is? :D

I think it suits you. :D
One more dot and it'd be a colon, which I think would be really off. Fear.

There was that whole.. merging of users thing that freaked me out a bit, when I did it.

mine is self explanitory
Well...
Sailor Moon is one of my favorite animes and Mistress 9 is one of my favorite villains and I usually use mistress9 almost everywhere. But people I've been chatting with started calling me Mis for short and it sounded kinda cool, so I decided to use it too...

TagDaze
01-05-2007, 12:24 AM
I bet I've got the weirdest.
When I was 15, we were planning on getting an internet connection, so I was thinking up a nickname for myself. I looked out of my window and saw the license plate of my neighbour "VG-DZ-xx". I placed some vowels there, and created "VugDaze". "Vug", however doesn't only sound retarded, it's also pronounced way different in English than it is in Dutch, so I decided to make it TagDaze.

SakuraNek0

I'll be silly for admitting how I got my username.
When I was young and naive.... XD;;; ... I used to RP a lot, especially T1 style and things like that.. but yeah. I went through a lot of better known anime chars (back in my FF.net days), but the main one was Kinomoto Sakura (for some strange reason).
After some time, I made a more original character, but stuck to the name "Sakura", although I already realized at the time that it was very common.
But, this "Sakura" was a catgirl. (LOLORIGINAL, stfu XD; )
Thus when I was making a new AIM screen name, I tried "SakuraNeko" for kicks.
Didn't work, someone took it.
Sacrified some dignity and used a zero instead of an "O" (which confuses people when I write out the SN on paper for them sometimes).
Then I decided to switch SN's after a long, long time (for some other reasons that were kind of important, I assure you. Don't try to add SakuraNek0, I'm never on it.)
So I switched to SakuNek0 on AIM... but everywhere else I just decided to stick with using "SakuraNek0" as my username... back when I was at BnG, lililicious' mIRC, GaiaOnline.. Now mainly on DeviantArt and even on YouTube (most recently so).
Most significantly, I also decided to use it here on VAA, and now I can't change it, LOL... I don't want to burden people with "LOL LOOK MY NEW USERNAME, K?" o_O;
(I believe I've had "SakuraNek0" as a username for over 3 or 4 years now.)
And that's the story of my username.

yukiko

My username is just one of my nicknames. The second most used one. I was going to use Stuci.... but Yukiko fits me a little more, since I love snow =D And I've had the nickname the longest.
Katsu Koneko
01-18-2007, 06:04 AM
Mine is from my 4 year obsession of the lucky duelist: Katsuya Jounouchi~ [Yu-Gi-Oh] and Koneko is from..my love of Kitties. XD
Katsu Koneko = Win Kitten
People still mistake me as a guy though. >.< What guy would name themselves Kitten?
JeffNaslundJr
01-21-2007, 06:46 PM
My username is named after my real name (Jeffrey Naslund, Jr.). I don't have a nickname, and I couldn't think of a good name for my alias, so I just wanted to use my own, given, real name as my alias (JeffNaslundJr). Yep, my alias is also my real name.
I'm a proud part of a group of friends who are figuratively ON CRACK and OBSESSED WITH ANIME. So, naturally, since all of us on teh intarwebz didn't want to be known by our real names, we gave each other nicknames.
At first, I was named AI, because of one of my former AIM handles, Electric AIchemy. AI was supposed to look like Al, therefore making it Alchemy. Since it obviously didn't work and they needed something for me, they called me AI. And it kinda stuck; I even fashioned my ff.net name after it (Fullmetal Ai). Since apparently people think of me as cute, adorable and loveable, AI also fit because of the meaning behind the text.
And then came the part where we realized we had a lot of FOOD names in the chat.
We were having sort of a crack thing going on in there, and Bean wanted to adopt me and my best friend, Tofu. So, we squeed because we really would be 'sisters' in a sense. But I didn't have a food name. So, after thinking for a couple of seconds, Bean finally renamed me Taco.
.... And it stuck.
For realz this time, yo.
So, there's the history of the Taco nickname. :3 Abridged. Okay, maybe not.

Mine isn't too special. I've grown quite a fascination with Japan and it's culture. My dream is to learn Japanese fluently one day.
Anyway, during the many times I looked at Japanese words on the internet plus that time I went to Japan last summer... I recently discovered the Japanese term for voice actress. SEIYUU. I saw the spelling and everything.
And since this is a voice acting forum... it just seemed to fit.

I'm Laotian.
You know, from Laos, that little Southeast Asian country?
The character Khan from the American anime King of the Hill is Laotian and as he was explaining it for the first time, Bill asks, "The ocean? What ocean?"
My username is the same name as my actual first name.

My username is the same name as my actual first name.
I was hoping for a long and witty anecdote there. :)
I don't think I reposted after the name change...
My Real name is Kevin, but I hate going by it due to the fact everyone close to me is named Kevin. ANYWAY. I really don't like the nicknames: Kev, K.J, Jeremiah (middle name) or Kevi >.>; so I decided to find a reasonable nickname in my name but it had to be original.
KeViN - VN = Kei. I thought it was a really nice name, I didn't know anyone with the name. So ya...it kinda stuck.
All my friends call me Kei, the only people who call me by my full name are my co-workers, managers, and my parents.

I so gotta do that eventually. D= I hate the underscore, and the name's gay anyways (even though I still use it for everything, just without the underscore xD;; ).
RosieG
02-09-2007, 03:10 AM
"Rosie" is short for my real name, and "G" is the first initial of my middle name, thus: RosieG. I started using the name on fanfiction.net because they wouldn't let me use plain old "Rosie," and I also tacked on the number 9012, which I love because it can be pronounced "ninety-twelve" (at least in my world). Than when I joined the VAA, I got rid of the numbers because I thought they might be confusing. So I use "ninety-twelve" as my custom title.
...and that is my wonderful story.

Long story short, my screen name reflects A) my initials; b) my respect for AC/DC. Replace the A and D with the G and M, it kind makes sense lol.

my name is a nic that I picked up in High school because I helped run the anime club and was the only person who could explain FLCL's plot to a noob. the 909 part is just a refrence to the LFO Holland uses in Eureka seven.
Arms Alchemist
02-10-2007, 02:55 AM
I get my name from Busou Renkin. The main character uses Arms Alchemy, and he's the first character I fandubbed. Hencefowarth, I decided to go with "Arms Alchemist".
P3RFECT
02-14-2007, 08:13 PM
When i went to japan i got lost and started walking in the woods. A couple of hours later a group of Ninjas ambushed me. It was an extremly bloody battle, but in the end i was the only one standing, but carved on my back is the letter Z (from the ninja battle) which you see as my avatar. Also my name P3RFECT thats what i call myself for defeating a group of Ninjas. You may not believe me, but i believe me. Either this
or
I created P3RFECT, because i just needed a cool name and Z is Z-Ezekiel Productions.
You choose what sounds better.
I got this name because my sister and brother told my mom that the name "Caylee" sucked. XD
Magic Kaito
02-18-2007, 03:50 AM
I got my name, well, I was using a really weird name for a while, and then I decided to change it to something, and at the time I was going through a big obsession with Detective Conan (and I still like it a lot, I just can't keep up anymore XD) and my favorite character in the series actually had his own manga to start off but it didn't go over that well at first, but Gosho Aoyama liked the characters so much they make a lot of appearances in Conan.
And so, since I thought no one would get the reference, I started naming myself after said manga, "Magic Kaito". And Kaito/Kaitou Kid is the main character. Then surprisingly enough, I met a lot of people calling myself this ^^; And it was a little awkward since this is technically a boy's name.

Well, I have a few screen names. I've started out as Kenshin Himura, which is the main character in Rurouni Kenshin, when I first "discovered" forums. Then, I started using "sonickenshin" (Sonic the Hedgehog+ Kenshin. And, no this is not a yaoi pairing. XD Don't get any ideas, mates.). When I joined Voice Acting Club and VAA, my username is off a character in one of my original fictions I am working on.
Yep. What's next?

Sheepmage
03-15-2007, 11:14 PM
First of all, Mugzie, your title is horrible; change it now xDDD Just kidding. Poor sheepy.
Anyway, the whole "sheep" thing started years and years ago (about eight or nine) when I was writing back and forth to a pen-pal in Florida. She used to send letters with little chibi cows and sheep drawn all over them, and called me baaa-ka-chan (I had some other kind of nickname for her similar to that, but I can't remember it). And the sheep thing developed from that.
Mage, well... I don't know about that one. But I've had that part of it for a few years.
What's really funny is that my group of friends in college call me "Sheep" quite often around campus, and I had a person come up to me at work once (who goes to the same college) that asked me, "You're that girl Sheep, right?" before she really knew my name. It was kind of awesome in a way xD

My username originated from the thesaurus. I was looking for an alternative word to "awesome" and found "Pyrend". In all seriousness though, I was thinking of pyreflies from FFX and just added an "nd".

WaterFae
03-18-2007, 06:21 AM
My username is a combination of two of my favorite things: the element of water and fairies! I've been using it for a pretty long time and I used it all the time on different forums, as a penname, etc. Originally, it had a 110 at the end because being my little thirteen year old self I thought it would be fun to add numbers that corresponded with my then crush's intials. You can imagine how stupid I feel about that logic now
:S
But that was years ago! XD WaterFae is perfect the way it is now. I only add 110 now if WaterFae is taken already ...or I do other variations of the name like Water_Fae...something like that.
Kanako-chan
03-18-2007, 03:55 PM
Kanako-chan huh...it started few years ago when I was in 6th or 7th grade when I joined this site called AO and that is the time when I got really obessed to anime. The first anime I watched was Love Hina and in the sequel Love Hina Again the main characther Keitaro had a sister name Kanako-chan she was quiet and quite a twisted characther.Nothing like me might I add but I end up using that username on all my forums.I am often called kana or even kanabako by a really close online friend XD
