Is anyone in the middle of rehearsing a school play? I sure am X_x and I don't know if I'm ready. We have to perform on December 2nd. We're doing two plays and I'm in both of them:
"The Prince Who Couldn't Speak" - I play The Wizard of Voiceology
"Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" - I play Mike Teavee
I've got all of Mike's lines down straight but my wizard lines are so damn long. I've got them all done except for this one I always mix up =/
Oh well, I know I'll do fine, i'm just paranoid XD

Not in any plays at the moment, but last year I was in a spin-off of the story of Scrooge (I forget the real name XD) and I kinda ad-libbed half of my lines.

I had major/starring roles in... lessee...
Our Town, Social Life, and Rumours (That was an amazing show).
Minor/Supporting roles... hmm, twice in This Is A Test (This Is A Test, Our Town, and Social Life all ran on the same night... so many lines, it was amazing).
Did lights/sound for Anne Frank And Me, um... God, what was the name of that play? I know I did lights/sound for Bang Bang, You're Dead, but what was the other one? Hmm... oh yeah, the Boys Next Door and, let's see... there was a play with one guy and a bunch of girls. And the guy dated all the girls and learned about sex and stuff, but then it all went back to his mother committing suicide, and I remember it being a fun play but I can't remember what it was called. I did lights/sound for that too.
Did stage manager/student director on John Lennon and Me. And did set construction on every single play listed above.
I was a total drama nerd (President of our chapter of the National Thespian Society, thank ya very much!), and I'm proud of it. Now I just gotta find the time to get in a college play!

Not any plays currently but I was in a play in...
5th Grade: Johnny Appleseed (I played a guy who got some seeds. o.o)
I was in a bunch of musical plays in Elementary school... nothing in middle school... yet..

Hm...
Last year I was the main character (Rosie) for Bye Bye Birdie. Hmm...I was a couple secondary characters during summer projects. (Meg in Crimes of the Heart and Laertes (a female version! XD) in Hamlet)
This year, my school doesn't really like freshman being main characters in plays, or for that matter, any character, really. o.o; Our school's Fall Play is The Man Who Came to Dinner, and the Spring Musical is to be announced. ^^
Good luck on your school's productions, though, Chinomi!

Ohh in primary school i was in loads of plays!!
One of them was Peter Pan xD I played as Tinker Bell xD it was pretty easy! I had no lines to say, all i had to do was bounce around, following the other characters xDD One of my wings got caught in my hair though on one of them and the whole time i had to have my head at a tilted angle xDD They must've thought Tinker Bell had a cramp or something! lol. Oh well, i was 8 and i couldn't say anything and especially couldn't rip my wings of! xD
Another play i was in was Westside story. Has anyone seen the movie? It's a musical based on a Romeo and Julliete-type story, except the main chars are called Maria and Tony.
Anyway, i played one of the gangsters xDD I got to sing, dance, scream, punch someone and stab someone!! MWAHA!! I think my only line was "Is it really?" in a sarcastic tone lol. One problem was when it was the tragic end, all of the characters were supposed to be looking down at Maria and Tony's dead bodies, upset. But my mum was at the back, waving and sticking her thumb up n' everything, and i was trying REALLY hard not to laugh or smile and i must've been blushing too! Gawd, just when it was going so well xD Parent's can be real killers when watching you in plays, eh? xD

I actually just performed in our school play a week ago, and we messed up horribly but no one noticed :D It was 'Murder on Center Stage' and I played Terry... possibly the stupidest character and play ever, but I didn't mind. Letsee, I was an elf in our fourth grade christmas play... and that's basically it xD

I don't take drama, so no XD Back when I was 11 I was a soldier in the Calamity Jane production that my school did, and in junior school I got a part called 'Debbie' XD She was a reporter in a production/musical Lets Put On A Show (can you guess what it was about?)

Ohh yea! I remember another play i was in now! I was in a play based on Tarzan. It was like 6 months after the Disney movie came out on the cinema, and it was mainly based on that version for the kids' benefit. Anyway, this was the most recent play i was in, and i was 16. I never had drama class or anything but they had posters advertising it for auditions so i thought 'why not?' so i auditioned and i got the part as Jane!! woo! xD i dunno HOW i forgot to mention this! They made me wear this huge, heavy victorian dress xD and i had to run! x.x Like i said, it was based off of the disney version so they had the baboons chasing me and everything. I actually tripped and fell when i was running at one part, but we quickly fixed it by Tarzan rushing onto the stage 30 seconds early and grabbing me and we had strings! xD We were flying lol and i had to scream, but part of that scream was genuine xDD Anyway, we didn't go high or anything cus this was a SCHOOL play. We played on a real theatre stage but it was organized by the school and they didn't have enough money to pay for the GOOD strings that make you fly really high lol....thank god! I wish i had pics! xD But yeah, it was really fun! And a lot of ppl liked me and Tom, who was the guy who played as Tarzan. ...he was cute! xDD So it was kinda easy in that respect lol to play a char who falls in love with him xD He was 19 i think? And cus he was a regular gym person, he didn't have a bad body either! xDD ANYWAY at the end i had to wear these skimpy rags! xDD But yeah, the whole play was really fun! And the kids were so cute! Especially the youngest ones. The ages were from 4 - 14 but me and Tom were obviously the oldest xD And the background images for the scenes on the stage were painted by the kids! It was so cute! Gawd, this is making me wanna make a radio play based on it for some scary reason! xD I probably won't lol

I'm currently starring in Agnes of God as Dr. Livingstone, who's as close to the main character of the show as you can get. It's three females, but really more of an ensemble piece. We're going to regional competition on Saturday.
Theatre resume? Let's see. Chronologically, all in high school:
Meg (the Stage Manager) in "The Actor's Nightmare" by Christopher Durang
Doris (the maid) in "The Hollow" by Agatha Christie
Lord Scroop in "Henry V" by William Shakespeare
The Writer/Narrator in "The Good Doctor" by Neil Simon
Ensemble in "The Music Man" by Meredith Wilson
Mrs. Douglas in "George Washington Slept Here" by George Kaufman and Moss Hart
Cobweb/Fairy Ensemble in "A Midsummer Night's Dream" by William Shakespeare
Truvy Jones in "Steel Magnolias" by Robert Harling
Ensemble/Soloist (Sufferin' 'til Suffrage) in "School House Rock Live!"
Chris Gorman in "Rumors" by Neil Simon
Theatre is my LIFE. ^_^; Who did you play in Rumors, Matt? That's my favorite show I've ever done.

"Rumors" was also my favorite show. As could probably be made obvious by my personality, I did an amazing job with Lenny Ganz and stole the show (as most Lennys seem to do, so I've heard).

I should've guessed. ;) If you've got a good performer as Lenny, that monologue can be a knockout. We were fortunate to have an amazing comedic actor playing Lenny who got applause after his monologue every night. SUCH a good show. Much love for Neil Simon.

II'm currently playing various extras in a production of The Wiz at a nearby college. The show starts in about three weeks and I personally can't wait for it to be over and done with, musicals are very tiring. X_x I've also taken part in two other shows, West Side Story and The Foreigner. I'd love to be doing this more often but it's just so time consuming once you're out of high school. I need sleep.

Hahah, 5 years ago, I was in a Christmas play... I played the mother. >D Fun.

I made the rather idiotic decision of waiting til my junior year to take drama... not that it really matters since I don't have any time for school plays anyway... ;_; But maybe my senior year I'll finally be in a production. :)
...Does being chosen by the teacher to play Emily in our class reading of "Our Town" count as a role? BECAUSE IT SURE DOES IN MY BOOK. HAR HAR!

I recently finished up a production of Shakespeare's Twelfth Night. I played Feste the Clown, appropriately enough :D That was our Fall Show. Auditions for the One-Act competition were Thursday- our school is doing The Bald Soprano! I was actually in that play last year for a student production. Anyway, cast list goes up tomorrow, and I'm ridiculously nervous about it. I'm almost guaranteed a part, but whether it will be a good one or not remains to be seen.
Yay for school theatre :)

We've had fights over doing that play for three years in a row. I HATE that play. Just not a fan of absurdist theatre.

Currently working on:
Rash Acts - Mag
It's a series of like 5 minute long skits. I play an old woman who gets in a fight with her friend Moo at the local Burger King.
In the past, I have done:
Zombie Prom - Miss Strict
Damn Yankess - Miss Weston
Ten Little Indians - Vera
Anything Goes - Ensemble
Once Upon a Mattress - Ensemble
I've also worked on crews for two others recently.

I can quite easily see why. It's puuuure nonsense! Got cast as Mrs. Martin...should be tons of fun :) Why on earth would you do it three years in a row, though?

Nooo, I mean there have been people in our play selection committees who have been trying to get it done for three years running. We haven't done it in my time in high school and I'm a senior now.

I actually didn't like King Lear. I thought it had a very weak storyline. Though I loved Hamlet. ^_^ Lear featured stronger female characters, but it was a bit silly and just... really bad written. However, Hamlet on the other hand..! Now that was a fun play to read for english class. :D The characters and their flaws seemed just so much more realistic than those in Lear. The women were weak characters, but in the elizabethan times, women were expected to be submissive and to stay in their place.
I think Romeo and Juliet is over-rated, and overdone, if you ask me... :P

Mhm, I would have to say that Hamlet and Othello are my favorite Shakespeare plays. (Iago is the best villain-character of all time.) I'm not much for Romeo and Juliet either.
As for school plays...I just got cast as Cassie in my high school's production of A Chorus Line and I'm ecstatic enough to use a graphical smiley face! :D I can't wait to begin rehearsals.

Our Theatre program is INSANE, seriously. We do two plays in the fall, a UIL competition in spring, a play in the spring, and every other year a musical in the spring. If you EVER land a role in a play, you have to be very lucky, and look exactly like the part. Then you have rehearsal everyday from 2:30 to 6:00pm for a 1.5-3 months.
The way they drill you, one person really can't handle more than one play a semester. Last year people thought I was lucky and crazy for doing roles in the musical AND the spring play. Yeah, my grades all dropped a letter, my GPA was murdered, I got exhaustion...
Ugh... I hope to god that your experience is a little more merry.
BREAK AN ARM! (For variety's sake)
