View Full Version : On the length of auditions lines

Most of the audition lines offered are fairly compact... as general feedback to all producers, I would like to say that I personally prefer a little more text to work with.

So instead of

1) "Hey you!"
2) "Huh? What was that?"
3) "Hi, I'm Jack."

I'd much rather record something like

1) "My name is Jack Lupino. In my time, I've seen much, and lost many close friends. For some people, that's enough reason to loose it, and become either lonely, or violent. But I'm not some people. I'm Jack Lupino. My fate... is my own."

And as far as I'm concerned, audition lines may be even longer. No need to split them up... and file size is becoming less and less of an issue these days, I believe. (I do realise plenty of people are still on 56k6 modems. I've been on dial-up for years myself, and I know it's doable.)

Anyone who feels the same? Anyone who disagrees? Thanks in advance for your replies!

Well, sometimes in auditions those are the only real lines needed when doing Casting. A producer/casting director would sometimes go from, demo reels, but when you are saying these lines we sometimes want to see, if you can do simple things as the character(s)....but i do get where you're coming from, i'll keep that in mind for later.
