I had not realized that Yakusoku was a Kanno Yoko song until just now. I think that your rendition thereof is possibly the best musical piece I've heard come out of anyone on this board, ever, hands down.

Whoa, awesome :D I have to agree with Byron, this is one of the best renditions of Yakusoku I've heard so far (considering how Sakamoto sings!) I can't help but to ask whether you have some sort of....opera musical background? Cuz when you sang some of the longer, drawn out notes, it almost sounded like opera *lol* Then again, I'm not expert when it comes to music, so...yeah :D
But! Keep it up! I'd be surprised if the company doesn't at least consider you :)

A taste isn't event ><
I said this already on FLAVA....but you have such a gorgeous voice. You are going places...like into a recording studio to record songs for a movie/tvshow/anime/soundtrack.

These are all REALLY great! Best rendition of each song i have heard on the board!
What I don't like about it? well, its too short! :P
Im kinda greedy, think we can have a copy of the demo CD? or the full versions of your songs?

Wow, very nice, Magali! I'm much impressed by your voice. Thanks for directing me to these samples!
My first impression of the Disney song was that your version was a bit stronger / harsher than the original. Mind you, just ever so slightly. You did a great job, it's just that I also like the smooth voice and pacing in the original. Perhaps your version is a bit more passionate, in a way - it sounds as if you find your situation fairly grave. I think especially your "r"s are rather distinct. Also a word like "heard" was pronounced a bit too strong, I feel. Maybe you just want to take a shortcut to diva-dom eh? ;)
Did you have any particular reason to sing it the way you did? Again, I'm not judging you, I'm just curious how you approached this song. :)
The Japanese songs I find harder to comment on, since I myself don't understand a single word, in fact, I don't even know the first thing about pronounciation.
Still, both songs sound convincing. I feel you know what you are singing, and allow yourself enough freedom to "work your way" to certain notes, all the while deliviring a clear sound. Also you seem to be in full control of the longer stretching notes, great.
In the last song, you really went with the rhythmn, that was really nice.
I'm also amazed by the quality of the samples! Thumbs up for the people in the studio!
Thanks again for sharing, Ms. Ferare! Grand work!

Like Dylan said, the japanese ones are hard to comment on. The melody is very nice, however, and I absolutely love your voice.
I've never seen Pocahontas, but I -love- your rendition of Colors of the Wind. It's so brilliant, sweet jesus. <3 You have to send me the fully recorded one!

I am ever-so jealous of your voice. XD Your voice is really strong, solid, and absolutely gorgeous. ^^ I wish I could give an indepth critique, but I don't know anything about music or singing. Terrific job, Miss Nanuri~

Wow, someone actually cares about emotional preparation for songs. This is why I pointed you in this direction, Dylan. XD!
Yeah... it used to bother me that Pocahontas was gaily skipping about singing these things that are basically a desperate plea for the white man to understand her world and not to chop it down. So my version is a bit more... desperate.
As for my "r"s, they're placed so that we classically-trained singers can force the sound further forward, which makes it cleaner and nicer. And my voice has a naturally rough quality to it, which can occasionally chafe my nerves but for the most part I like it.
Also... since I was going for variety, I did this in more of a pop style (for the refrain) than I usually would have.
Thank you for your inquiry, and to *everyone* for your wonderful comments. Especially to Crimson, who's critiquing me on MSN >D

I could only listen to one and a half before the teacher kicked me off, but... here's what I think! ^-^
Your voice is lovely! It's very strong, and beautiful. Yakusoku wa Iranai and the beginning of Colors of the Wind were all I heard, but I'm already in love! ^-^ I wish I would have seen the topic sooner. In my opinion, if those dubbers don't hire you they're crazy.
I think that your voice is exactly what they're looking for. Because, I know japanese singers have that soft, delicate voice. (Like mine, XD) But, in dubs, the singer sometimes blows you away!
Good luck! ^_^ I'll critique something better later tonight when I can actually LISTEN to them!

And perhaps if I checked VACU a little more often I would have noticed that you actually had a thread for this and could have critiqued here :P.

The board must have eaten my post ;-; Or I posted at FLAVA.
Did you ever send this anywhere? Your voice in this is so beautiful.. they'd be insane not to take you on. >D

Nikki you're going to hell for reviving this, I swear.
And yes, I sent it to Funimation. The rep that I spoke to basically said, "Move out here and we'll hire you in ten seconds flat."
I was, needless to say, absolutely floored.
But no way in Hell am I moving to Texas... >.>;;;; I just don't have that sort of commitment to my craft, I guess. I would definitely consider it after graduation, but until then I'm firmly staying near Stanford University, thanks very much XD

>D You'd better go afterwards.. or I'll, like, drag you there or something.
And everyone should feel uber-jealous 'cause I have the full versions of the songs.. and they don't. :D

I wish a studio would tell ME that >D. That's really awesome though; hopefully that's at least given you the confidence to persue your craft elsewhere, closer to home.

=O
Your singing rocks...
Your voice is very beautiful. =D I wasn't really expecting so many people here on VAA to sing Soyokaze no Sonachine/Sonatina of the Wind! Really, it's amazing. XD And ya'll put me to shame. Every one of you. Buwaa.
INSPIRATION!
Okay. To be honest, I can't say much of anything in the way of critisism, because your voice is too beautiful for words. I mean it. All three of those songs are beautifully sung, and you really give off the vibe that you know what you're doing (I have no doubt that you do, either. =D). All three are well done. Thank you so much for sharing this. ^^
