So, I just got my name on the auditions list at ADV Films! XD XD In about 6 months, they'll contact me and I'll have a private session with a male voice actor where they see if I'm worth my beans.
I'm excited, but scared. I get one chance to prove myself! O_O But I've never done anything professionally- have any of you? I don't even know if I'm good enough. x_x;; What's it like, though, do they just call you in, and er... listen to you yell random lines into a mic?
*must prepare* *must prepare*

How exciting!!
Chances are they'll have something for you to read when you go in so it's best to show up about 15min early or so.
But you can prepare something to take with you as well to show off your range depending on what they want to hear from you.
What i've been told, is even if you're not professional.. LOOK IT.
Carry yourself that way! And be fully confident in yourself and know that 'yes! you can do it!' :D
Take a cd demo to leave with them so they can keep it on file. It will show them that you are very serious about it.
But most importantly have lots of fun there~!
lol congrats ^__^

Congratulations ^_^
But you need to calm down =P!
I, myself, aim to be a VA for Ocean Studios in Vancouver but so far I only do commercials for the local radio station.
The best thing that you can do is just let loose and be yourself. People in the recording studio who direct what your doing love it when your just not uptight. It's OK to be nervous but try to calm down =D

I have questions!
1. How did you do it???!?!?!
2. OMG!?
3. I dunno.
OMG! Don't get as excited and stupid as me though, like everyone else said, just play it cool! 8)
Yeah, well.! HAHAHAHA!
CONGRATS! YOU BETTER KEEP ME POSTED!!!!! XDDD
EDIT: I just read my message... I sound like someone's mother. XD

Don't be too heartbroken if you're turned down. A "no" you already have, but a "yes" is always a possibility.
Just prepare yourself for that as well. All in all, congratulations with this oppertunity ^^.

*breathes* Okay, calm down, act pro, gotcha. >_< Must not squeal. Thanks you guys, I'm glad about all the feedback. This means I should probably get to it and make a very pro sounding demo reel.
Aaah, you're so cute Aki! To do ADV you have to live within driving range of the Houston, Texas studios. ^_^;; Where are you? I'm sure there are local studios. I just lucked out and got a huge one, haha- which might not necessarily be a good thing. O_o;;

Wawa, really?! Cool! Then drive down to ADV sometime (haha you can crash at my place) and talk to them. ^_~ They'll do a bunch of crap, and you might be placed on an audition list.

;-; I wish. In a couple of year's maybe. We're going to Corpus Christi, and not to mention, I'm just fourteen so my parent's wouldn't let me crash at your place. XD Too bad, I had a moment of bliss! XD

Ahh... open audition lists...
Maria and I signed up and it took over a year for them to get to us (that is the problem with being a female in a job with so many other females >.<) and they are saying that the list is now at 2 years in length. So, my point is, don't get disappointed if they take a while to call you in. Course, you could get lucky and they may have more need for auditions.
Also, you can bring a demo, but again... don't be disappointed if they don't take it. Essentially your audition is the demo...
Ahhh... and now to the most important part...
Now is the time to practice. Pull up a video clip, script it out, and set up your mic infront of you (on a stand is best if possible cause that's how it is there). Print that script, then sit infront of the computer screen and watch the clip while reading along with the script. Then record that scene in your natural voice. Try that for various different emotional ranges.
That is basically how you do it in the open audition. They will give you a script, then you will watch the scene, and then you'll act out the scene along with your audition partner (it is rare that you'd ever record along with someone else, but they do it that way to make it easier on the auditioners). Don't let your partner messing up cause you trouble though, cause sometimes people can't take the pressure of the audition. Use your partner as a cue, but don't depend on him.
Hmm... then also important...
if you don't get called back right away, don't be distressed. They hold your recorded audition for a year, and that is what directors use to determine if they want to call you in for a "real" audition or not. That could take weeks, or it could take months... either way... don't be too distressed if it takes a while.
I think that's it... I'll post more if I think of it.
