Project information - OpenArena (http://openarena.ws) is a Free Software first person shooter deathmatch and teamplay game based on the Quake3 source. You might say "Hey there's already enough of those why bother" but this one is focused on compatibility with other q3 mods, which is something the other Free FPS games cannot ever offer. The project has been running stable since its start in early 2005 and is nearing the next major version.
Also along with it, is a almost-as-wacky art direction mixing a wide variety of themes ranging from futuristic to medieval to oriental. There's just a lack of skulls and hellishness the original game had. The styling is still westernish, but there is inspiration from anime for some of the designs.
Important - This project is licensed under the GNU GPL v2 completely. Basically the gist of it is that it can be commercially distributed and freely modified and distributed, but it must retain the same license for any derivative works. The OpenArena project is an open source Free Software project with a pricetag of $0. Everyone is a volunteer contributor and no one is paid!
Audition deadline - None specifically for voices, but the upcoming version will be done by August 1, 2008.
Recording and Contact information - You can PM me here or post them here, I don't like email or PMs much though. It's possible to attach voices on the OA forums as well, and/or use the IRC channel (irc.anynet.org #openarena) but I'll feel guilty of promoting those here since I personally don't like self promotion. :)
-Record in 44100Hz, 16-bit mono WAV (all sounds in OA are this format)
-Files are as follows:
death1.wav - Death yell
death2.wav - Death scream
death3.wav - Death, death
drown.wav - Drowning death underwater. (making death noise in a glass of water works well for this)
fall1.wav - Falling grunt from a distance like 7ft or higher
falling1.wav - Falling scream to a distance to death (usually in a pit of death fog or a black void)
gasp.wav - Gasp for air after swimming in water
jump1.wav - Jumping grunt
pain100_1.wav - Pain noise when at 75-100+ health points
pain75_1.wav- Pain noise when at 50-75 health points
pain50_1.wav- Pain noise when at 25-50 health points
pain25_1.wav- Pain noise when at 1-25 health points
taunt.wav- Taunt noise, provoked by either pressing the taunt key, or a team score (automatic)
-Character sounds are not really lines of dialogue! They are grunts, pains, death noises, falling noises (screams when you fall long distances towards immediate death), and a taunting noise.
- The upcoming missionpack for 0.8.0 also features a system for voice quips and team orders but no lines have been written for these yet. It's also not character specific.

Bio: She comes from a planet with a really hot climate that so hot it causes cotton threads to burn. Because of this, she wears almost nothing but a sling and some stockings. Basically she's sort of a parody of the typical anime sex bomb female complete with large breasts and borderline-to-nudity attire. She likes hunting.
Voice type: Maybe european or asian sounding. The skins for this character varies alot (from caucasian blonde (http://openarena.ws/shots/angelyss2.jpg) to succubus (http://openarena.ws/shots/angelyss-dark.jpg) to black (http://openarena.ws/shots/fun/compromise1.png) to asian (http://openarena.ws/shots/fun/an-rai-new.jpg) (even furry (http://openarena.ws/shots/076/nekoyss.jpg))) so maybe something to fit all 3.

Age: 28
Bio: She is a dark elf / spider (a drider) and she is really evil. Long hair, dark blue-green skin, long ears, clad in nothing but a necklace, etc. She likes torture and magic.
Voice type: Probably british/french european because she's from a medieval fantasy world and we all know everyone sounds european there. Low pitch , but not monsterous low.

Age: 30
Bio: She is a futuristic military soldier with experience with large destructive weapons and railguns. She likes loyalty and command.
Voice type: Tough because she is not focused fashion first. Think Ripley from the Alien movies. Aggressive.

Bio: She is a undead chinese hopping corpse looking for revenge. She is rather well dressed.
Voice type: Friendly, kind, Chinese mandarin. Enjoys joy. Not aggressive. Her taunt phrase is currently "Ni hao ma *giggle!!11*" but maybe something better can take its place.

Bio: A young japanese schoolgirl part-time undercover assassin. What appears to be a cute bundle of teen spirit may be your worst nightmare. The model for this currently is one of the worst models ever and will be redone soon.
Voice type: Cute asian voice ^_^ but aggressive when 50% health or lower and death.
Name: Sorceress
Age: 23
Bio: She comes from the fantasy middle age setting where she dwells into magic and also some chemistry. She isn't wicked but she is no witch despite the pointed hat.

- 0.8.0's missionpack expansion also has 2 new models that try to be generic as possible for skinning creative liberties. No details on them yet but they're a female and a male and have medium, fit proportions. Since its voice system is different, it's not character unique. There is a team voice system that issues these following lines:

Remember that i'm going to pressure for an August 1st deadline, which may be OH NO THAT'S KINDA SOON FROM NOW but the actual game will release on August 8 2008 (since it's version 0.8.0 and all these 8s are of course for luck)
There is no 'filled' positions or 'spots', though it doesn't hurt to have more contributions than necessary. If it's after August 1 it'll probably have to be in some future patch or version.
If no one voices, i'll have to resort to using a male-only text to speech system, and I don't want to do that :(
