With this game you need to give the title of a book you have read recently and give a short summery about it.

Then the next person has to give a small commentary about the story or Author. It doesn't matter if you've read the story or not. So saying things like "Sounds interesting, I'll have to check that out when i have an opertunity." Or "That story sounds boring as hell." are allowed.

Example: Princess Diary's

Author: Meg Cabot (if you don't know the author's name. just say you don't recall the authors name at this time)

Summery: This is the story of a girl named Amelia Thermopoliswho learns that her father has lost the ability to produce an heir due to surviving a bout with cancer. So that makes her the new princess to the throne of Genovia. Amilia hates the idea because it sets her apart from her plans on graduating highschool and joining Green Peace. But eventually although reluctantly begins to accept there are some things in life she can't have the way she wanted.

Next person: Oh I've read this book. Mag Cabots a good author but it feels like majority of her books tend to follow the same pattern with the girl having facinations about the guy who is the most popular in the school and then having her finding out the hard way that he isn't as cool as she beleaved he had been.

Title: Looking for Alaska

Author: John Green

Summery: Miles Halter AkA Pudge a boy with a love for the last words of famous people decides to attend a boarding school in Alabama. Stating he wants to follow the last words of the poet Rabalet(sp) who was believed to have said "I go in search of a great perhaps." When he had passed on. Miles hopes to try and understand what the "great perhaps" was and possibly find his own "Great Perhaps"
While at Colver Creek, Miles meets an excentric girl named Alaska Young. Alaska shows him a book where the main character says "How can I ever get out of this labyrinth?" A quote that Alaska herself uses at times in the story. One night Alaska appears to Miles and his room mate Chip Martin AKA The Colonel. She is drunk and crying while she is asking her friends to help her escape from the school since it's after cerfue. The boys try to covince her to wait until morning when she would be more sober. But she persists. Fifteen minutes later Alaska slams her car into a Police car and is killed instantly. Alaska's three friends are left to deal with the hole Alaska left in their lives.

That sounds like an interesting read.:)

A book I'm currently reading is:

Title: The Dirt:Confessions of the world's most notorious rock band

Author: Tommy Lee,Nikki Sixx,Vince Neil,Mick Mars and Neil Strauss.

Summary: Here-directly from Nikki,Vince,Tommy and Mick is the unexpurgated version of the whole glorious,gut-wrenching story. In these pages, published for the first time anywhere, are Tommy lee's letters to Pamela anderson from prison; Mick's confession to having an incrable disease that is slowly killing him; Vince's experience burying his own daughter--and the train wreck that his life became afterward;and Nikki's anguished struggle to deal with an entire life fueled by anger over his childhood abandonment, his discovery of his family he never knew he had--and his subsequent loss of them. And all of it accompanied by stories of rare never before published photograghs,mug-shots, and handwritten lyrics. No one is spared. Not David Lee Roth,Ozzy Osbourne,Vanity,Aerosmith,Heather Locklear,AC/DC,Lita Ford,Iron Maiden,Pamela Anderson,Guns and Roses,Donna D' Errico,RATT or those two girls from Dallas,Texas.
Make no mistake about it: these guys are genuises. They invented glam rock and then left it it the dust;sold more than forty million albums from "Shout at the devil" to "Dr. Feelgood";toured the world dozens of times and have the scars to prove it; and maintained a rabid following in an era of throwaway pop stars. Motley Crue has done nothing less than tattoo the psyche of the entire MTV generation. They are the ultimate rock n' roll band. And if you don't believe it,read The Dirt....You don't know what decadence is...

Title: Of Mice and Men
Author: John Steinbeck
Summary:
Clinging to each other in their loneliness and alienation, George and his simple-minded friend Lennie dream, as drifters will, of a place to call their own. But after they come to work on a ranch in the Salinas Valley their hopes, like "the best laid schemes o' mice an' men," begin to go awry.

I had to read this in my English classes at school, but it was so good, i had to buy it myself.... and the film.

Haven't read it yet, but it's on my rather massive list of books to read. Someday. Eventually.

Title: The Killings At Badger's Drift
Author: Caroline Graham
When an elderly woman is found dead in her home in the small English town of Badger's Drift, Chief Inspector Barnaby goes to investigate. It soon becomes apparent that things aren't exactly as they seem, and what appeared to have been a natural death may actually have been murder.

It's actually a good bit more complicated than that, but that's all I can say without completely spoiling the plot. This is the first book in the series that the show "Midsomer Murders" is based on, by the way.

You've left a hefty bit of cliff to hang onto; now I have to read it!

Title: The Alchemist
Author: Paulo Coelho
A shepherd boy named Santiago travels from his homeland in Spain to the Egyptian Pyramids in search of a treasure from his dreams. Along the way he meets a Gyspy woman, a king, and an alchemist, all of whom point Santiago in the right direction. What starts as a journey for worldly goods turns into a discovery of treasure within. Spiritual without being religious, the book tells of every spirit's "Personal Legend," and teaches that one must follow his own path in life.

I didn't think I would like it, but I couldn't put it down!

Title: Twilight Saga: (Twilight, New Moon, Eclipse)
Author: Stephanie Meyer
Summary: When Bella Swan moves in with her father in Forkes Washington, she meets a strange family known as the Cullens. After trying to figure out what they are, Bella notices her feelings for Edward, a member of the family. With gripping plots and high intensity thrills, it's a deffinate read.

Left out enough stuff to make you read it (if you haven't already).

I'm one of those obsessive Twilight fangirls, but I actually prefer Jacob to Edward(though I love Edward, too). I just got the special edition of Eclipse, which comes with a preview of Breaking Dawn(which is SO fantastic!!) and t-shirt transfers that say "Team Edward" and "Team Jacob". I'm making the Jacob t-shirt today.

Title: When You Are Engulfed in Flames
Author: David Sedaris
Summary: ...<3! Another book of essays from the brilliant and hilarious David Sedaris. Read about everything from how his mother-in-law was eaten by parasitic worms to his adventures trying to quit smoking... in Tokyo.
Just like all his other books, it made me laugh until I cried. If you haven't read David Sedaris before, you don't know what you're missing. And if you have, you know that you have to go and get it RIGHT NOW.

Title: Good Omens
Authors: Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett
Summary: (the short version, which I am totally stealing from Amazon, because I'm sick and far too lazy to come up with my own.)
"This zany tale of the bungling of Armageddon features an angel, a demon, an 11-year-old Antichrist and a doomsaying witch; unmistakably British humor is in abundance."

It. Is. Hilarious. I really, really enjoyed it and would heartily recommend it. I know I'll definitely be reading it again soon.

I absolutely love Good Omens! =D Very good take on the end of the world. XD

Title: Are you there, Vodka? It's me, Chelsea.
Author: Chelsea Handler
Summary: A memoir of comedian and talk show host, Chelsea Handler's life up till now. When Chelsea Handler needs to get a few things off her chest, she appeals to a higher power -- vodka. You would too if you found out that your boyfriend was having an affair with a Peekapoo or if you had to pretend to be honeymooning with your father in order to upgrade to first class. Welcome to Chelsea's world -- a place where absurdity reigns supreme and a quick wit is the best line of defense.

I'm actually only half way through it, but she's not afraid to speak her mind, she's totally hilarious and you'll be saying the entire time, "No way!" because some things are so hard to believe. But they happened and it's hilarious. I absolutely love her show, she's top-notch and hilarious to-boot. Did I mention she's hilarious? *shot*

Meep, it's been awhile since anyone's replied to this thread. ^^;; I'm actually a bit of a Twilight fangirl myself... >_> <_< I don't know if I'll get 'Breaking Dawn' right away when it comes out tbh. Hardcovers get on my nerves lol

Anyways...

Title: The Virgin Suicides
Author: Jeffrey Eugenides
Summary: Basically observing the downfall of the Lisbon family through the eyes of a few neighbourhood boys. It takes place in a small community set in the 70s, so in a time when suicides weren't openly talked about. I thought it was interesting to see how the different generations and people reacted to the tradegy. My only problem with the book is the boys are borderline stalkers and completely obsessed. It's slightly annoying to have to read about their fanboyness sometimes. lol But other than that I liked it.

And just to prove I'm not some emo person this is what I'm currently reading. :P

Title: Carrie Pilby
Author: Caren Lissner
Summary: (I'll just type some of the summary on the back since it sums it up pretty well) "Carrie Pilby doesn't fit in -- and she's pretty much given up trying. A year out of college and settling in to life in the big city, this 19 year old genius believes everyone she meets is immoral, sex obsessed and hypocritical, and the only person she sees on a regular basis is her therapist. When he comes up with a 5-point plan to help her discover the 'positive aspects of social interaction.' Carrie, who would rather stay home in bed, is forced to view the world in a new light."

I'm about halfway through and it's a good read so far. The main character, Carrie, reminds me a lot of 'Juno'. lol I keep picturing her as Ellen Page. ^^;; It's a book I can kinda relate to and is pretty entertaining. Not dark at all. ^_~

thin air and the murderers are invisible to everything but Clary. She finds out that she doesn't know alot about her family

I actually enjoyed The Host up until the very end. I felt like the last chapter was just a bit too hokey and forced, to be honest, like it was a happy ending for the sake of having a happy ending. I would have been happier if it ended the chapter before.

Which is why my librarian mother shoves books under my nose. XD Like this one:

Title: Shadowland (First book to the Mediator series. Love the whole thing.)

Author: Meg Cabot

Summary: Suzannah Simon's mother remarried, thus resulting in a move from New York to California. The house is great--except it's haunted by a ghost named Jesse de Silva, who died 150 years ago. The other problem? Only Suze can see him.

Suze is a mediator, a person who can see and talk to ghosts, and helps them move on to whatever afterlife there is waiting for them. Some are a bit more...reluctant to leave, thus making life extremely difficult for Suze. Like, oh say, causing an entire section of the school to collapse on her.

With the help of Father Dominic, principal of her new school, and Jesse, Suze combats with persistent ghosts, solves old and new crimes, and obtains a very strange line of boyfriends......Hey, what's life without dating a potential murderer?

Darkly Dreaming Dexter

Jeff Lindsay

Dexter Morgan isn't your average protagonist. He's a serial killer with one large difference between himself and the hack and slash monsters of the world. Dexter only kills other killers, bad people, murderers, the people society would be better without but somehow escape the system. This little hobby is aided by his work for the Miami Dade Police Department as a forensic blood splatter analyst. Things begin to go wrong though when a new killer enters the scene known as the Tamiami Slasher. His work is compelling and in a sick way beautiful to Dexter. Who now must decide between helping his cop sister catch the Slasher or sit back and watch the artist at work.

It's a pretty compelling read, one of the rare occasions I actually sat down and read something cover to cover. Mind you it is a three parter, the third book in the series much like the series jumps the shark a bit but the whole story is still worth taking in. There are quite a few differences between the characters in the hit Showtime T.V Series based off the books. So if you're a fan of the t.v show be prepared for a couple rather HUGE surprises.

So it was based off a book, guess I should've seen that coming.

On A Winter's Night A Traveler...
Italo Calvino
A book written in 2nd person where "you" have just gotten Italo Calvino latest book "On A Winter's Night A Traveler" only to discover your copy has been misprinted and contained the pages of another book. When you go back to get another copy you discover all copies of the book have been misprinted, but it wasn't a total lost you meet another reader/love interest at the store who's having the same problem. Together you two go off searching for a copy of the book and to figure out what's going down

I thought it was a great book, I've never read a 2nd person story before. The whole story shows the Italo's crazy view on being an author, writing, and reading stories, which is strangely very interesting. I thought it was a great read and I actually loved the ending.

A House of Night Series (Marked, Betrayed, Chosen, Untamed *Coming soon: Hunted*)
Author(s): P.C Cast & Kristen Cast

Summary: A House of Night is a book series created by a mother named P.C Cast and her daughter Kristen Cast. The story is about a girl named Zoey Montgomery; she lived a pretty normal life, went to school, had a best friend, a boyfriend (who she didn't even WANT to go out with and he is convinced they are), and a family who she did'nt really like (Except her grandmother). One day Zoey found her self being "marked" by a vampire now having to leave her life behind and go through a "change" from a fledgelings to a adult vampire, scared she could die any day. The Goddess Nyx appeared to Zoey saying she is special and not all good is good and not all evil is evil. And drama, drama, and MORE drama!

The story so far i really amazing! I really enjoy these books! I cant WAIT! Till Hunted comes out in March! I read all the books before Untamed came out, finished that 2 days ago now I am DIEING To read the next one! REALLY good vampire novel for those who like Vampire novels (WARNING! has alot of swearing in it XD!)

Right now I am in the middle of reading the LAST book to the "Ink" trilogy "InkDeath" - that is also a good serise! (InkHeart, InkSpell and InkDeath) Really good read for those who are more into fantasy's ^_^

Sounds interesting, but I'm already obsessed with the Twilight series, I'm afraid to become addicted to something else ^-^

The Lovely Bones
Alice Sebold

It's a book about a girl who gets raped, killed, and goes to Heaven. The whole book is about her witnessing how her family and friends are going through the pain. She also tries to point them to the killer, who is a person that live in the same neighborhood. I know it sounds morbid, but its actually really hopeful, and a good book. I really stirs up a lot of emotions when I read it (I'm surprised I haven't cried yet  ) But, it really is good, despite its weird summary :sweat

I finally got around to reading Soseki Natsume's Kokoro, which Ive been meaning to do for quite some time now...
Anyway, it's gotten as much acclaim as it has for a very good reason. It was an emotional rollercoaster and I really enjoyed the ride. "Sensei" made me cry so much with the letter that makes p the last part of the book.
Mostly, I feel like I have to imediately go find someone else who's read it so I can discuss some things that I found odd and/or interesting.

Summery: What would you do, to see your true love again? will you go throught Hell, Purgiotry, and Heaven, just to see her, one last time? Dante, is stuck in a mystrious dark woods, and is visted by his idol Virgil, who will take him, and YOU, on a journy throught, a mystical world.

the other book i read was......

Title: Faust part I & Part II
Author: I Forgot.
Summery:Image, that God, and Satan, placed a bet, on you? what would you do, if Satan, was your partner, and had to turn you evil? and what do, really adorible puppies,(a black little poodle) have to do with anything? Well, find out, also, the story is written into a Play form, witch i personally find kinda awsome. if you love plays, or fantasy, or Faith and that jazz, then this book is for you!!:-o:-P:rose:rose:rose:rose:rose:rose

The Lovely Bones
Alice Sebold

This is SUCH a good book - definitely one of my favorites.

I finally, finally got around to reading Twilight. It was mostly alright, up until the last several chapters, during which it became MUCH better. I could go on about many things in the book that I found strange or unrealistic, but I won't. Once Meyer finally got the suspense going, though, it improved immensely. I just wish it hadn't taken over half the book to get there. :P

I'm really looking forward to the next one after reading the preview, though. Too bad the movie looks so awful.

Really? I would think the next book is more like that. XD

Breaking Dawn by Stephanie Meyer

This book was so boring during the first couple of chapters, but it's most likely because I totally hate Bella and her whining. After forcing myself to read past the garbage, and finally finding some kind of suspense towards the last couple of chapters of Book I, my hope was re-fueled.

I have a couple of chapters to go, but there has been a very annoying pattern throughout the book. The way the story would turn kind of reminded me of a roller coaster, with its ups and downs. Book II was pretty interesting and made me adore characters I never thought I would adore.

Once you get into Book III, you'll be hit by several pages of description. I don't know about you, but long descriptions about one specific thing bores the crap out of me. Luckily, after THAT mess is done with, the book starts getting good. Here's hoping it continues that way until I reach the end.

City of Ember by Jeanne DuPrau.

It's a children's book about a city that is entirely in darkness and after a couple hundred years it is running out of light, food, and just about everything in general. It seems that nothing is really being done to help the Citizens of Ember until a pair of young children discover a message that could be they key to saving their people... </lame attampt of summary>

It's a really cute light read that I very much enjoyed. I got really excited after I read it when I realised that a movie had already been made and had been released two weeks ago, but unfortunately it was not playing anywhere within a 3 state radius of California. =___= How sad... But it's got 3 sequals, so that' something. =)

Hooray for Young Readers!

I LOVED THIS BOOK! my friend Lindsay was like 'This book is awsome! You should read it!?!' So I took it from her (LOL!) and read it; I started it was alright... but then I was like "OMG! WHAT HAPPENS NEXT!?!??!" If you like the romance, horror, vampire type stuff, you will like this book! I just started to read Amanda Ashley's books, she has more then one, with different people in each but each book contains romance with vampires or something and I just bought two other books by her ^_^. I really enjoyed Desire after Dark, I would totally read it again! But I have to give it back to my friend XD!

Well, the most recent books I've read would have to be Ink Exchange by Melissa Marr and The Pearl of the Soul of the World by Meredith Ann Pierce

Ink Exchange:
By far one of the most amazing books I have read. It is based around faerie mythology, as well as a teenage girl who becomes bound through a tattoo on her back. Marr keep me reading late into the night; when ever I wasn’t reading I was thinking about what might happen next.

The Pearl of the Soul of the World:
Uses very difficult langue, which is one of the reasons she drew me into her series. The series is based around a young girl that once worked as a servant for her mistress. Throughout the books she is taken and falls in love with a dark angel. In this book she is going on an adventure to save him from the woman that controls him. This book is very unique and I truly enjoyed it.

I'm trying to force my way through Twilight right now to see what the big fuss is about.

Bella's a whiny, albino (lol) emo-bish, and Edward sparkles more than a drag queen. That is all. xD

I have just read 2 books which I got from the library,we'll I was able to read through most of one before I had to take it back.

"The Prydain Chronicles(single volume edition)"-Lloyd Alexander

Summary:A single book of all 6 of Lloyd Alexander's Prydain books. "The Book of Three,"The Black Cauldron","The Castle of Llyr","Taran Wanderer", and "The High King" plus a collection of prequels called "The Foundling and other tales of Prydain". The main focus of the stories is Taran an assistant Pig Keeper and his adventures, along with his friends in the land of Prydain.

"Thr3e"-Ted Dekker

Summary:While driving home from school, Kevin Parson gets a menacing phone call from a man calling himself Slater, saying that if Kevin doesn't confess a certain sin, he will blow his car sky high, he then gives Kevin a riddle,"What falls but never breaks, what breaks but never falls?" Kevin is able to drive his car to a safe spot and escape soon after it blows up. As the book goes on, other characters become involved in Slater's game of riddles and explosions. Samatha Sheer, a childhood friend of Kevin's and an agent for the CBI, whom Slater seems to mysteriously know. And Jennifer Peters,an FBI agent who's brother was killed by a mysterious assailant known as the Riddle Killer, who may or may not be Slater. There are many twists and turns in this novel but the biggest one comes at the end when we find out that Samantha may be more than just a friend, and Slater may be more than just an enemy.:-o

I had a reading spree there for a bit...granted it's all sorta geeky crap, read through Richard Knaak's Day of the Dragon and wanted to vomit afterward...Christie Golden's Rise of the Horde and wanted to vomit a little less...Jeff Grubb's Last Guardian and squeed with nerd glee, and then took in a little Jane Austen with undead goodness with Pride and Prejudice and Zombies.

The last was by far the best read, if not the silliest.

I've recently read "The Absolute True Diary of a Part Time Indian" by Sherman Alexie. My teacher recommended it to me, and now I couldn't put it down. It's fictional, but apparently, Sherman adds a ton of his own life into this, and boy does he know how to make it entertaining. He'd often silly remarks whether it's about a friend, family member, or something that happened earlier.

(not word for word) She blew a kiss to me. Then I thought, "Great, now I'm playing for the boner.

Ahh, might as well (since I spend sleepless nights reading a random book). Not sure if these were posted already...

And the summaries are made up on the spot. It's hard for me to find a book in this house, and most of them are borrowed from my awesome English teacher. ^^;;

Title: Neverwhere
Author: Neil Gaiman

Summary: Richard is an ordinary man with a good heart. When he stops to help a bleeding girl on the streets of London, he finds himself fallen between the cracks of the world -- in a new world called London Below. All Richard wants to do is go home...but in order to do so, he must help a girl on her quest.

My Opinion?: I have to thank my teacher for handing me all these books for me to read. >.> Anyhow, Neil Gaiman is awesome. This book is so odd, yet the oddness and the quirky characters really keep this story going. And, of course, you've gotta love those plot twists.

Title: Wicked Lovely
Author: Melissa Marr

Summary: This is based around faerie mythology. A girl named Aislinn has seen faeries her entire life. However, one day, a faerie approaches her and changes her future forever, putting everything on the line.

My Opinion?: I'm usually not into these types of books. When I saw it, I thought..."Huh. Sounds like Twilight except faerie-style." Still, my friend reccommended it, so I read it for her. And I read it all night. It was great. The writing style was better than most teenage books, the main character wasn't that whiny and thick, and the storyline rather unique. Now I have to go buy the sequel/other Melissa Marr books...

Title: The Chocolate War
Author: Robert Cormier (not sure if I spelled his last name right)

Summary: In an all-boy's prep school, a delinquent group called the Vigils call the shots. Archie, one of the leaders of the group and also a master of intimidation, gets intimidated by a teacher into having the group join a chocolate sale as a fundraiser. However, a freshman named Jerry 'dares disturb this universe.'

My Opinion?: Sorry the summary's so vague, but I can't say much without giving away the story. To be honest, I never heard of Robert Cormier until this year, when my English teacher gave me the book "After The First Death." That one was awesome, and then I read this one...which was doubly awesome. It seriously keeps you interested, and the characters are really compelling...That being said: Psychological thrillers = win.

Haha, here I go. I've finally got around to reading books again. Crappy summaries and possible spoilers ahoy. Although everyone's probably read what I'm about to write about anyways.

Title: The Giver
Author: Lois Lowry

Summary: In a nutshell, Jonas lives in an essentially Utopian society without pain and hunger. But when he is chosen to be the Receiver of Memory, he discovers that his world is not as peaceful as it seems.

Haha. A crappy summary. I suspect most people have read this, so I kept it short. I personally found it quite an interesting book and I found their society intriguing to read about as well. Granted, it is a book for younger readers so the themes are watered-down a bit and aren't actually all-out dark and disturbing, but still food for thought. But then again, I didn't find Evangelion all that disturbing, so your threshold for it may vary. The ending was a bit rushed to me and very open, but it's uplifting.

Title: Eclipse
Author: Stephanie Meyer

Summary: As Bella finishes off school and prepares for a new life, there's a love triangle and a new threat for the Cullens, but could it be an old foe?

I've kept it down to the basic plot of the book. Admittedly, I'm not the biggest fan of Stephenie Meyer's writing style, as I find it too overwrought. The good thing is that the other Cullens get some more background. However, the romance doesn't interest me personally [especially Jacob's sudden 180] and the antagonist just doesn't seem important and seemed more like cannon fodder than a real character, which made the climax of the book kind of mild as opposed to intense. I'll probably read the last one for the heck of it, but I don't feel like I absolutely have to.

Title: The Five People You Meet in Heaven
Author: Mitch Albom

Summary: When you die, you do not go to heaven, but instead you meet five people from your life who teach you important lessons for one to come to terms with themselves. This book recounts Eddie's journey in heaven and the five people he meets.

This is the ultimate feel-good book. It's quite heartwarming and touching and essentially a character study of the main character, Eddie. It's interesting to see his past entertwined into the main story and it adds another layer to it. It's a short book so one can read it in one go with no problems, and it's not a bad one either.

Aaand I'm done. I've got a copy of A Clockwork Orange from the library I'm planning to read.

I've been reading False Memory by Dean Koontz

It's a long ass psychological thriller dealing with phobia's (one peculiar phobia I never knew existed) and a psychologist with a God complex. So far I've read read 1/3rd of it and it great however the main problem is it's structure. The story is set-up in a way that 2 events are always happening simultaneously and so it goes from to chapter to chapter constantly switching between the 2 settings, never allowing you to fully engrose yourself in it. Especially since the chapters are roughly 5-10 pages long.

It's been a little bit since I read it, but I thought I'd recommend it here, anyway:

Moon Called, by Patricia Briggs, and the following sequels. This series probably has to be my most favorite fantasy series in recent memory. The books center around Mercy Thompson, a kickass car mechanic by day, shape shifting coyote by night. In the world of the books, vampires, werewolves, faeries and the like are all real, though humans are only aware of the existence of the Fae. Each book in the series so far deals with Mercy's interactions and dealings with various members of one species, and the fight to keep the darker elements of each race in check.

One of the things I love most about this series in the main character. While Mercy is described as attractive and has a few romantic interests throughout the books, she's also one of the strongest female leads I've come across recently, which is definitely refreshing. She's a strong, independent character who never finds herself playing the damsel in distress, but without being any sort of feminazi or anything. She, along with the rest of the characters, are wonderfully developed, and the history of all the magical races and interactions between them are fascinating.

If you're into any sort of fantasy-adventure sort of novels, with a healthy dose of the supernatural, I'd most definitely recommend this series. :]

The Cry of the Icemark
I can't say it's a new book, it's the third time I've read it and I still love it. It's the first of three Icemark books and is about a young girl named Thirrin who at the age of 14 becomes Queen of her small country, the Icemark. Her father is killed while defending the country from the massive Polypontian Empire's army lead by the brutal general Scipio Bellorum. In order to save her people she must find as many allies as she can before winter ends and the general's armies come to add the Icemark to the ever expanding Empire.

It's a story about facing up to impossible odds and not giving in. If nothing else, it has giant talking snow leopards <3

I didn't find the second book nearly as good as the first but the third definitely makes up for it.

This will be many books but I thought they are defiantly worth checking out if you’re into either Sci-fi or a good fantasy series. Most of this comes from my outside hobby (Warhammer) and it is very rare that I wish to read a book. All of these kept me up in the late night hours eagerly reading chapter after chapter, wondering what would happen next.

Title: The Daemon's Curse

Author: Dan Abnett & Mike Lee

Summery: Warrior. Betrayer. Monster. Even amongst the treacherous dark elves, Malus Darkblade stands out as a study in ruthlessness. When he steals a map that leads him to a secret power hidden deep within the Chaos Wastes, Malus collects his cut-throat warriors and sets off to seek his fortune. Their Journey takes them into madness of Chaos and horrors that cause even a dark elf to quake in fear. Upon reaching the temple too late does Malus find out that it was a trap set for the fool who takes form the keeps. Now possessed by a Demon named Tz'arkan, he must recover 5 ancient relics in one year to free himself of the daemon or his soul forever be lost.

This is by far the best book I ever read. If you want to see a character that’s damn near pure evil, Malus nails it and more. It is a five part series and each one is exciting as the next. I would explain more about them but each summary rather spoils the book before it :(.

*The next five are part of a long series in the Warhammer universe at a time period referred to as The Horus Heresy.

With all the temptations Chaos has to offer, can the weakened Horus resist?

Title: Galaxy In Flames

Author: Ben Counter

Summery: Having recovered from his grievous injuries, Warmaster Horus leads the triumphant Imperial forces against the rebel world of Isstvan III. Title: Flight of The Eisenstein

But when the fleeing Eisenstein is damaged by enemy fire; it becomes stranded in the warp - the realm of the Dark Powers. Can Garro and his men survive the depredations of Chaos and get his warning to the Emperor before Horus’s plans reach fruition?

Title: Fulgrim

Author: Graham McNeill

Summery: As the Great Crusade continues to conquer the galaxy. Fulgrim, Primarch of the Emperors Children, leads his warriors into battle against a vile alien for. Leading up to the carnage of the drop site Massacre on Isstvan V, Graham McNeill tells the tale of Fulgrim's tragic fall from grace in the next shrilling novel in the Horus Heresy.

After that the rest of the novels so far branch off into sub stories that you pick. Sorry if that was a lot but I thought I would share some books I enjoyed this year and last. ^_^

Etiquette and Vitriol: The Food Chain and other Plays by Nicky Silver

One of my all-time favorite playwrights. He has the unique ability to pair razor sharp wit with overbearingly dark scenarios; sometimes comedic, sometimes not. His characters don't act or behave like conventional stage characters. They behave differently and talk differently. The scenarios are everything but typical, from a giant dinosaur skeleton slowly being assembled onstage, to a desert island backdrop being used for a psychiatrist's office. Although I've read this collection of plays before, they're always fascinating to re-read.

Strongly recommended to anybody who likes black comedy or good plays in general.

The Stolen Throne and The Calling by David Gaider.

I'll admit that they're books based on a video game and would be the virgin attempts at novels by the game's lead writer but that's what makes them such an easy read. David Gaider extends the already impressive story from Dragon Age Origins fleshing out some of the most interesting but rarely present characters, such as Duncan and Loghain. It frames the Dragon Age story very well and gives you some insight into why a hated character is a certain way, I very nearly forgave Loghain for everything he did in game after reading the almost bromance like story within The Stolen Throne.

Currently, I am reading a very interesting piece of Japanese literature called Spinning Tropics by Aska Mochizuki. It's basically about one Japanese foreigner, Hiro, in Vietnam who makes the acquaintance of a Vietnamese student learning Japanese, Yun. It basically revolves around their love for each other (they are females, by the way) and how a businessman, Konno, seems to complicate it with Yun's paranoia and jealousy.

Very interesting, yet very short. >:

I read The Poisonwood Bible by Barbara Kingsolver in my English class recently, and fell in love with her writing.
I finished another one of her books, The Bean Trees, just yesterday, and now she is my current hero(ine). I worship her.

The Awakening by Kate Chopin is very interesting too. If you're going to read that definitely read "The Yellow Wallpaper" along with it. It's public domain so you can find it easily online.

A Japanese author I recommend Haruki Mikami. It seems like he's on crack half the time he's writing, and I love it. I recently read his "The Elephant Vanishes" and other short stories. Half "WTF?" and half heartwrenchingly poignant.
