So they're supposed to be childrens Novels? XD

Heh. Let's face it, even if they are, I'm hooked, a word which here means "Everytime my sister brings home a new one I can't stop untill I've read the whole thing"

So how bout it, any other Snicket fans here? XD

And while you're at it...

What IS the VFD?

XD

and Who is Beatrice?

EE! I used to love A Series Of Unfortunate Events! But I read them when I was 11 or so, I don't really remember them anymore. Hmmm... VFD... Was that in the elevator book (sorry i can't remember the exact name ^^;; ) I think it was like a fish or something... >.>; I can't remember sorry. :)''

Dude! The minute I saw those books, I thought "I'm gonna love this series."

I haven't gotten to read the whole thing yet, but it's so much fun. Definitely a fan right here.

Honestly, *I* have never understood the appeal of a book series that is basically founded on the premise that these children can never be happy.

But that's just me

I find the writing style amusing. It's quirky.

No offense but these books are so repitive. Twists are what I live for and theis book has very few. My sister tells me to read on for the big secret but it's a labour to read them.

Snicket is much, much better than Rowling. Best childrens author there is at the moment -- neck and neck with Lloyd Alexander.

ooh I'm not sure, Lloyd Alexander is in a class alone.

*.* XD

I think part of the appeal of the books is the distinct lack of plot twists. Everything is so straightforward, that unless you're LOOKING for clues to the next book(s), things will go *right* over your head. Which adds to their appeal. They're simlple enough for children, but complex enough for adults (or, in my case, 19 year olds that never grow up!).

Actually, an excellent plot twist would be someone actually BELIEVING the Baudelairs for once.

*grin*

I don't know, Magali, maybe I'm sadistic? I think the books, ultimately will have a happy ending though. They're far too light-toned not to. Or if they don't eveyone will die together in a hilariously random fashion.

My betting is that the ending unfortunate event is that the Children end up living with the author ~.^

And yes the VFD was in book four, XD but Vat eez zee zecret organeezation? XD Everyone's guessing "Volunteer Fire Department" but that's so obvious!

*grin* Ah well.

I've yet to read an idea on who Beatrice is that I like.

bah.

Snicket is one of my favorite authors.
His writing style is unique, I just hope they dont mess up the movie, the trailers are good so far =/.

And if anyone hasnt read "Lemony Snicket's Autobiography" You HAVE to read it. It contains tons of information.
