So, after I read The Autobiography of Malcolm X I've been wondering what is everyones thought on Malcolm X himself. Whether you have actually researched or not, tell me your opinion and what he had represented and whether he should be a figure to be admired. I won't give out any information since I already did the additional research and if you have tell me your before and after thoughts.

And lets keep this clean, please.

By ANY means necessary.

Even if it's an M1 Carbine.

I can't say I cared for him. I don't necessarily like a man who claims I'm a devil, basically. It's not my fault I am a certain race [being white] -- but he seemed to think that being a certain race [being white] makes me a devil. I don't appreciate his by any means necessary idealism ... just look at Thurgood Marshall who didn't use violence, but the law; he did more than Malcom ever did.

Moreover, Malcom advocated for segregation.

I always thought Magneto was wrong compared with Professor Xavier, but he was a bit more of a realist, as well.

Fight racism by being racist! FUCK YEAH!

Truly a case of fire with fire. If you can't get your way, make someone as uncomfortable as you are.
What bugs me are the folks nowadays that don't let it drop. I mean seriously, how many years did you serve on a plantation/spend fighting expansionism that kicked you off of your land and onto a reservation/etc.?

Don't get me wrong, I'm all about championing a cause and fighting for it tooth and nail. I guess if you yell loud enough though, someone is eventually bound to think that it sounds good.
(I'm looking at you Ricky Martin.)

I love it when people backpedal when they are called out on their inane comments.

I think my friend said it best...... "who the hell let you loose in the world, and how many punches does it take for me to take you out of the gene pool?"

Believe it if that's what makes you feel better ^^! Welcome to the Intarwebs.
I'll leave you to your serious business.

And, wasn't this board about Malcolm X, not how ignorant you think Teacher_Nine is and whatever you guys speak of [I lost pattern]?

It's getting a bit off-topic.

Aren't you a little late to attempt to put this train back onto the right tracks?

One could pose the argument that dear Mister X wasn't actually racist but a product of his environment.

They would also be fucking stupid.

So quick to cut me off ~

Meaning, this board isn't about racism directly, but Malcolm X, who has hardly been mentioned since the first posts. I think the intent of the board was to discuss Malcolm in correlation to racism.

Hey you, yeah you there with the skinny mustache and the pasta.

-_- Fuck you!

lol Mario.

Seriously though the amount of acceptable racism in today's society is amazing. So many people are willing to accept that it's all well and good now that we live in a more "tolerant" time but we really don't.

Here, you look cold. Why don't you take this blanket?

Seriously, though. I think racism now and racism then are two entirely different things. Racism then was lynching and assassinating people because they were different. Not that I agree with Malcolm X, but I can see more of a justification for his stance in that climate.

Today, racism has expanded to any sort of classification using race. It seems that many people want to enforce a society completely blind to our racial differences, because they think that if I notice that I'm brown or he's black or if she's yellow, that's going to destroy society. It's gotten to the point where the accusation of racism is used as a sort of a scarlet letter. It's kind of ironic, but people who call themselves liberal are exhibiting this sort of reactionary behavior toward any public figure who dares acknowledge race as something that separates us. I'm not saying real hardcore racism doesn't exist anymore. I just don't think it's ever entirely going away. We group and generalize. It's how we think. We don't check every fire to see if it's hot. We just assume since we've felt a few fires, that all fires are hot. Grouping makes the world easier to comprehend. As different people are exposed to one another, they'll get used to each other, and they'll find ways to get along, but I doubt we'll ever not be weary of people different than ourselves. That is, until we all look the same. Then again, I'm sure we'll find other ways to separate and classify ourselves.
