Alright... so... story is, I registered last year, but never really got a chance to start voice acting until this year.
Ok, so, thing is, I'm sick (cold + allergies = really stuffy nose + unstable vocal cords), so please be gentle with the fact that I couldn't really do a really happy emotion in my demo and that I might sound like I have a stuffy nose. Also, This is technically my first anime demo, so it's "unofficial", again, technically. Comments, criticism, opinions, things you liked/disliked, etc. are all welcome! I really hope at least a few people enjoy it! >.< *is lacking self-confidence*
PLEASE COMMENT!

There's an certain texture to your voice that I find really alluring and eye-catching. I like your voice, perfect for the more soft-spoken silent characters, which by the way, most characters you used are in fact just that. Your emotions are good for the most part. Hopefully, I'll get to hear other emotions in your next demo.
Your voice range is pretty good as well. I have a feeling you will have a wider range over time, so no need for concern in that department. ^^
I adore your Kiba and Gaara voices a lot! If I ever do a Wolf's Rain Clip, I would definitely consider you for an part.
And a tip for your next demo: Record it when you are not sick, that way you can really blow others away with your abilities. Remember, demos are there to show others what you are capable of, so don't rush it. Take your time.
Keep up the great work!

Thanks for the tips! Yeah~ I'll do another demo when I'm feeling better. It's just that, seeing other people do theirs got me a bit pumped up, so I wanted to do a demo asap! But yeah, I get what you're saying. I hope you listen to my "official" demo later!

You're most welcome! I know what you mean. I get that feeling a lot myself. But since I just don't have the time, I just have to wait till I can really focus on my demo...I still don't have one after all this time.
I will definitely listen to your next demo. ^^

well, its a good thing i listen to peoples demos from time to time to know what the new peeps are doin'. nice stuff here, nice stuff. The only thing i can say here is to try a bit more of a variety with emotions...there wasnt really much differences in that area (y'know yelling, crying, happy, sad and all that jazz). I advise you...not to record when your sick...i see that from alot of people, they record demos or them singing when they're sick...dont do that. If you want them to critique you on how to improve...you should be at the top of your game, not sick or having a stuffy nose or congestion of the sort...but clear and good quality of the vocal cords.
I never did a professional sounding demo, i just press record and let it run and improv the whole thing or maybe write a script sometimes, but yeah...I know some things about sounding vocally great, i just dont put in the time to create such a demo, haha. that...and i'll have to ask my friend to mix it for me, me + mixing = epic fail.
yeah, you still have some nice voices there. (maybe also try some original voices aswell, hm? haha. ). Your vincent, i've gotta say, is freakin' amazing...there are similarities between yours and Steve Blum's. (and steve blum is freakin' amazing, so a compliment this is, haha). Your Sasuke, i could tell your nose was stuffed. Your Motimon was good (Go Digimon!) and your Kiba was excellent, i think. Your gaara, is debatable, but its decent. I havent really seen Samurai Champloo enough to comment on that.
but still, nice demo.

I agree with what's been said before in that I would love to hear you when you're not sick! Anyhoo, this was pretty good for a first demo. Better than mine was anyway. The only characters I'm really familiar with are Jin and Vincent, but I loved your voice for both of them. Your Jin is my hero. I think the only kind of critique I can come up with is that you need a little more variety in the characters/emotions. But I'd say you're off to a good start.

-nods vaguely- I agree with what everyone above has said. From the voices you did, though, I really like your voice and will definitely remember you for future projects. :3
Great job! Keep it up!

xD Sorry bout the emotions. Again, I couldn't pull off the emotions cause my stuffy nose and I would crack my voice. You're right, I should give my best when I present my work. xD thank you for saying that I sound like Steve Blum.
Thing is, however, with Sasuke, I noticed that the original Japanese version's voice sounded a bit nasally, and because I wanted to try to follow that style, I ended up with that voice. It's ironic because the first of Sasuke's lines I did was actually before I got sick. @__@ (I hope someone here would agree that the original Japanese one sounds nasally).
I did Gaara because I originally thought, Well, if I'm sick, I might as well use the cracked voice, so yeah, that's why I did Gaara.
Thanks again!

=D Thanks for listening, and again, yeah, you guys are right about not doing it while I'm sick x___X. I'm recovering from the stuffy nose, so I should be able to make an "official" demo soon! I'm glad you enjoyed my Jin~

To anyone/everyone,
What do you look for when you think of a good voice actor? Does the person really have to have a great range of pitches, range, emotion, etc? I'm a bit curious as to what people are thinking/expecting when they hear a demo (*hint hint* like mine).

Oh Sayaka, how can a voice be 'eye-catching'? x] I'm sorry, I just found it funny :3
You have a sort of accent, (i think) I wonder where from! Regardless, it fit very well with the characters you gave us! Like Sayaka said, you have a thing for those soft characters. But I see you also like those people with a bit of a 'RAWR' inside of them, hmm? It's interesting, I really liked your Sasuke and Kiba's voice. They fit very well, and gave me chills (moreso the Kiba one.)
Thanks, by the way, you helped me understand what a demo is about. :o.. I didn't quite understand it beforehand. Anyways, I hope I could be half as good as you Dx I don't have a large range as other people do, but by the sounds of your Digimon, it sounds like you're getting there! Keep up the good work and never give up!
EDIT: Just read your question. Everyone has their own strengths. But what I think is the main core of skill is the emotion one puts in his/her voice. That's what I enjoy anyways. Just as long as it gives me a chill, I'd love it. :3

Not necessarily - some of the best/most popular voice actors today mainly get cast for "THEIR" voice in almost everything they do. But to me a good voice actor is someone who can become the character they're playing and make that character fitting (in other words, matches the picture if it's an anime or other visual medium), defined and believable.

You make an excellent point there and it inspires me to make another demo, but this time, roles/original lines with just my natural voice.
I should also say that I rushed this demo because I share the mic with my club (which does voice acting), therefore, I can only get the mic for a certain amount of time at a time. So not only was I sick when I did this, but I only got to use the mic for only a limited number of days before I had to give it up.
