This information has only been recently released. It had been rumored that there would be another Final Fantasy game to accompany the upcoming Before Crisis and Advent Children. Dirge of Cerberus is going to center around the character of Vincent Valentine one year after Advent Children and, according to INGInsider, Square Enix may have "taken some influence from Capcom's Devil May Cry; Dirge of Cerberus should appropriately be a vampire game"

Maybe they are going a little overboard now of the FFVII craze, but I wouldn't mind a Vincent centered game.

Yeah, FFVII is getting a lot of the upper hand. Still, Vincent strikes me as a great main character. So far the FFVII Compilation comprises of:

Final Fantasy VII: Before Crisis
Final Fantasy VII
Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children
Final Fantasy VII: Dirge of Cerberus

And then add to that all the side-games with FFVII characters to its name:

Final Fantasy Tactics
Ehrgeiz
Kingdom Hearts
Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories
Kingdom Hearts 2 (not confirmed yet, but according to Nomura he wants to continue Cloud's story, so it may be included in KH2)
Itadaki Street Special

I can't complain. I like FFVII. The only thing admittedly that I don't like is that while Square is busy milking the FFVII cash cow, every other Final Fantasy game is being more or less ignored, with the exception of FFXII and FFXI.

Well they dragged tons of the FFX series (which wasn't all that great) so why not do it to another (and the better of them all)?

FFX's only major extension was FFX-2, and Kingdom Hearts. But FFVII has a prequel, a sequel, and five side-games to its name, so it really overshadows FFX in that aspect. I haven't played FFX or FFX-2 so I don't know if they're good, though I have them pretty much spoiled for me and I know that they're easy and cosplayers flock to them. But that's about it.

Actually in japan they made a little extra 30 minute (which was also dubbed but I'm not sure if it was release here I saw it on FFX-2.net) or so in-game movie that happened after the first one that explains some more of the second one. So it does have another extention. KH didn't really have much other then the appearnce of a few characters (same with KHII appearently). So I guess they just finally moved on and wanted to bring out more on an older one since FF7 does kinda just have a cut off at the end and we don't really know what happened.

But if they really screw it up then they are gonna have a lot of explaining to do. I just dont know, the movie is one thing but more games? im really iffy on it now.

Yeah a friend of mine already told me about this. I'm really excited about this game, Vincent deserves his only story since he is such a complex character.

Vincent owns O_O.

I don't care if they turn the game into one of those old school NES learning games--As long as Vincent is the main character, I'm happy.

Yep, I'm pretty sure that's what SquareEnix is counting on in order to make money.

X3 Maybe they'll make a sequel to FF4 or something.

I'm probably going to buy it...
Even though I must strongly suggest Enix stop this milking of the FFVII franchise at once and focus on the next installment! *pout*

Eh, Square hasn't released a really good FF title since Tactics.

OoOo... I <333 FVII!

...which is why I am terrified by this mad rush on FFVII sequel/prequel/movie stuff. ^^;; I mean- I am ALL for it if they turn out well (the movie looked nice)... but I just worry it will be like Batman or Disney or something where they kill the original by trying to cash in on the "follow-up" mania. I love the game too much to see it's image splattered. -_-;;

But then again- I have more faith in Square than the movie industry, so... hopefully it'll be okay. ::crosses fingers::

A very valid point.... VERY valid... IT's 6 AM, and I have nothing more intelligible to say.

SquareEnix have been promising an actual remake of FFVII for years, but they seen to be focusing on sequels and such first. *shrug* I'm still waiting for the remake. ^^

They never promised that.

Let me rephrase that, they have been kicking the idea around. The demand for it, though, has been centered around western audiences and not japanese audiences, that has made SquareEnix hesitant to take up such a project.
