Anyone from australia here? hehe anime convention is coming up and i am planning to enter the karaoke comp. so yea..this is just a quick recording to see how i sound singing the song. it's far from perfect >< hope i can improve between now and the convention.

Karaoke contests are *SO* much fun... squee >D

First of all, your song choice is wonderful. Wakatte Ita Hazu is from one of my favorite animes of all time (and it has a gorgeous soundtrack for singing).

The first thing I notice is that you sounded timid at first. Perhaps it's just the volume, but that's what I heard. Your voice is sweet and lullaby-esque (that's not a word >.>) and very well suited to this song, so don't be afraid to let loose.

You have a tendency to get a little nasal at parts. I know it's tempting to sing through one's nose when singing Japanese, simply because that's the way they sound like they're doing it; however they're actually very focused singers and their placement is usually impeccable, so try to slip more into doing it *your* way and not imitate the singer's style so much. Er, if that makes sense. Cause I used to do the same thing.

Also, try to focus your sound more forward (just not in your nose), that's where I sense most of the 'timid' sound is coming from. ^_^

I really like this though, and you'll go far in the competition if you play your cards right, breathe, and of course keep it cool onstage. What other song(s) are you going to sing?

I'm listening to this now and all i can really say is this is BEAUTIFUL! I've never heard the original song since i've never watch Fushigi Yuugi, but i love what you've done! You've got a beautiful singing voice, and i hope you do very well in the competition! ^^

i agree with nanuri about the uh...nose part o.o; (as weird as it sounds e.e;; ) but other than that...with your voice, im sure you'll do great in the competition! ^.^ *cheers yumeyuki on* X3

mmm now that you mention it, i realise that i am doing that..err nose thing hehe.. i'll try to change that. i think i might be doing it subconsciously (coz i am trying to stay in character to that voice >< my normal singing voice isn't as, um, "sweet", as that) thanks for pointing it out =)

As for the karaoke comp, this is the only song i am singing. i think aussie anime conventions are different to those in the USA. we got two rounds, but we sing the same song for both rounds.

Isn't Edwyn from Australia... or... New Zealand... or something? XD;; Like Nanuri already mentioned, you were rather nasal, especially during the chorus. But you have a nice voice, that needs just a bit of strengthening with practice. I wish ya luck in the contest! :)
