A bit preemptive but, since I'm not going to AWA or Animagic I thought I'd start to get the word out for this convention.

The San Diego Convention center has annually held what they call the Comic-con International Convention. While this is not an entirely anime centered convention, it is frequented by anime lovers, movie stars, the works. It is a convention for all those who love comics(paper or internet), graphics novels, mangas, cartoons, the works. But that's not all that's there. Alot of movie items and games are purchasable, as well as the opportunity to see some of the bigger names in the film industry.

Last year not only did my friends see a perfectly cosplayed Vash the Stampede, but the entire cast of Stargate SG-1 was also there, as well as actors Sarah Michelle Gellar (The Grudge), Keanu Reeves and Djimon Hounsou (Constantine), Jude Law (Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow), Jessica Alba, Jaime King, Rosario Dawson (Sin City), Jessica Biel and Ryan Reynolds (Blade Trinity), and Eliza Dushku (Tru Calling) plus many more, including producers, directors and writers of some of the greatest new and upcoming movies, TV shows and cartoons.

Date: CCI will be held in July 14-17 of 2005.

Confirmed Events: CCI is being tightlipped about who what is coming to the 2005 Convention, (Prolly cause they don't know yet)

Interested VAs: Come on people! Anyone interested in coming?

It's a year early, but since I live in San Diego and all, and assuming I won't be on a trip like I was this year, then yeah I'm definitely coming.

Yeah, it is posted way early. But I figured if we got the word out early enough we'd get a good crowd.

I'll be updating the first post as new info comes in.

I went this year (first con evah >D). ^^ I live in San Diego too, so it's not far. But it's expensive just to get in! ;-; Anyways, I'm going next year, so look for a 13 year old (I'm 12 now O.o who cares! XD) cosplaying who looks a little older than 13! Just say "Koinu Yukina" Then I'll scare you with my ugliness. XD''

EDIT: I might not go cuz I wanna go to anime expo! X3

While no new information has come in, I am still trying to spread the word early. If you want to come meet some of your VA pals next year, come down to ever sunny San Diego, place of Comic-Con 2005, Sea World and Disney Land! Whooo!!! [/sales pitch]

I've been going to Comic-Con for two years now, and while its not as anime oriented as the anime cons, obviously, its a lot of fun. It has a much wider variety of booths than what I've heard of anime cons featuring the latest Sci-Fi and Fantasy films, independent films, vintage comics, ect. Plus the downtown San Diego area is beautiful and holds so much stuff to do. I heard people express an interest to have a meet up not centered around a con, the setting of Comic-Con presents a good compromise. The gaslamp district is fun to walk around and shop in, the beach is only a hop, skip, and a jump away, and did someone say baseball? The San Diego Zoo, Seaworld...Comic Con would be a good place for a meetup that offered more than a con to entertain guests.

I'm going to go there. I'm only a couple hours away. I'm gonna dress up as Wolfwood. I hope I see you guys there but its probably not likely. I'm just telling you I'm short. So if you see a 4.3ft girl dressed up like Wolfwood, its probably me. I'm so excited. Squeee.

Okay, I finally have a time for all those thinking about it. The convention will be held on July 14-17.

Comic-con International, as with most conventions, also offers discounts on airfare and hotel costs for attendees, but they have yet to update their site for that specific item.

I'll post more info as it becomes available.

I'm still thinking about going to this one. It would have to depend on school schedules since my partner and I plan to take summer school. He would be inkling to go (huge SG fan). He does have a plenty of cosplay ideas up his sleeve. I know I do too. ^.~ Eh, I might as well go as a Bond girl (from Pussy Galore to Wai Lin) each day. I need to go to more non anime cons...

*bump* I'd really like to know if anyone is still going to the San Diego Comic-con so I know where I could at least say hi to them and meet them. I was thinking around one of the voiceacting panels would be cool or maybe outside the anime screening rooms. ^_^

OMG... The Comic-Con was the first convention I've been to but it was... the best freaking convention ever! I got to meet Yasuhiro Nightow, shake his hand, I got to meet the Red VS. Blue cast, Dave Garcia (He draws the Tick comics), the creators of Penny Arcade, and... Greg Cipes! Well, the cast was there except for Scott Menville and Ron Perlman, but they had staff replace them for a script reading. I will post more information in a new post!
