I know, I know! I'm posting a lot about anime dubs! ^^;; Anyways, I got the english version (the Viz version) today and I have to say that it;s MUCH better than the normal dubbing. ^_^ They kinda made the credits weird though...
Monica Stori (Kagome) did great and she screamed the screaming lines, well, good and loud. Richard Cox did better at InuYasha, too. Paul Dobson's Myouga sounded convincing! TT_TT (<-- happy cry) Pam Hyatt does the perfect old lady (Kaede) and Willow Johnson (Kikyou) scared me when she needed to so that was good! Donald Brown's Jaken voice is the same as the series. I'm not gonna complain about him! ^_^
David Kaye still does a pretty good SesshoMaru (no, that's not a typo. I wrte it like SesshoMaru) Jillian Micheals' Shippou still kinda annoys me, but it's cute! Kirby Morrow (Miroku) is still as good as I thought he was. Kelly Sheridan (Sango) is still pretty good and Brenna O'Brian's rin is still the same as usual! ^^ Terry Klassen's Hachi is still kinda nerdy. XD =D French Ticker makes a good grandpa, Saffron Henderson does a good Souta (he also does a good Hamtaro, but let's not talk about that now XD), Cathy Weseluck makes a nice Kagome's mom,
As for the new voices...
MenoMaru's english VA (Vincent Gale) lacked emotion sometimes when he needed it most, but I don't really care. Hari (Lalania Lindiberg) was good and Ruri's (Venus Terzo) voice seemed a little weird but it's okay.
Now please post cuz otherwise I would've just wasted my time and almost killed my fingers. XD If you wanna know where to get it before it's scheduled release date, ask me nicely. XD

did you buy this or download it? I have a hard time believing that the dub was any good, but i will take your word for it. I know the sub version was great, and i would be very interested to see how the dub turned out.

I'm going to go see a free showing of it in Dallas in a couple of weeks (I have no idea the street date for release here, so my best chance is to see the free showing) I've seen the 1st movie subbed, and I'm almost half way done with the 2nd one. It is verryyy good. It has a totally different feel from the TV series.

I ment the name of the movie was changed. It's originally "InuYasha: A Love that transends time"

I've heard 3 different names for each of the first three movies. For all we know, they could be right. Even if they are wrong, it still means the same thing and it's no big deal. ^_^
EDIT: their schedule only goes up to September 12, and a lot of IY boards say that it's been moved to spring 2005.

Previous announcement result of a "miscommunication."
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
As mentioned in our panel report, Viz representative Toshifumi Yoshida stated that Inuyasha: Love that Transcends Time would not air on Cartoon Network before April 2005. Cartoon Network has confirmed that the movie will premiere sometime in the spring of 2005.
The announcement on Adult Swim's message board reads as follows:
Due to a miscommunication in regards to the amount of time that is required to pass between the DVD release of InuYasha: The Love that Transcends Time and its airing, the previously announced date of October 23 for Adult Swim's airing of the feature will be pushed back. Instead, it will premiere in the Spring of 2005. We understand how disappointing this is for InuYasha fans, but these were circumstances beyond our control. Premieres of InuYasha will continue to air on Saturdays at 12 a.m., with weekday reruns at 12:30 a.m.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Okay so it was pushed back. Went to look up more on that but still I'll probably wait till then cause yeah free is better then spending money on something that might not be that good.

Rented it recently from Blockbuster. Yay!
Yeah, I would one of the best improvements was Richard Cox. I remember some people had complained that his Inuyasha sounded like punk rather than a demon that was gonna actually kill you. I kinda agree (although I don't see that as necessarily a horrible thing, I tend to think his seiyuu sounds spastic, which is, uh, his style.) so it seems that they took this into account. (Yay, don't you wish that happened more often?)
Richard Cox has definitely honed his skills on one word: Kagome. Just when you get annoyed at how many times characters call out each other's name, you remember that that one word can say so much. Richard Cox does this beautifully---from the soft "Kagome needs a hug" Kagome (As in right before a certain someone shoots him at the tree) to sincerely "I'm gonna kill you" Kagome-growl as in after Kagome came back.

I don't watch the dub.. full stop! lol I don't like any of the characters' VA's apart from Miroku's. Kagome sounds too old to be 15, Inuyasha doesn't sound as tough as the Jap VA (...or Fexy xD) and Sango sounds too sweet. I've only heard a small line of Shippou's, and he just doesn't sound as good as the Jap version. PLUS the annoying fact that they pronounce everything wrong, or if not wrong, they pronounce it with an accent, which makes it sound wrong lol. I've never seen the movie and if the slightest little part of me does want to see it, it'd only be to see how badly they altered the script. C'mon, all dubs alter the eng scripts badly, but its not always painfully badly i guess. One example would be on ep 24 when Sango comes back from slaying a demon, she says "Hello my dear brother" to Kohaku.. ok someone get me a bucket! xD But seriously, no matter how close someone is to their brother, no one would actually say that in reality! Mind you, i know Inuyasha is anything but realistic, but c'mon! There wasn't even any lip sync they had to worry about cus she was facing away from the screen when she said that line. And another thing i have to point out is... i so badly HATE it when people say "Sissy" or "Sister" to replace "Oneechan". I'm sorry, i know its picky but every time i hear that i seriously cringe and sometimes even growl! lol. Ok so i understand if the dub made them say "Oneechan" it wouldn't be obvious to everyone who doesn't know the first thing in jap, what it means. But maybe they could put a note up before the ep/movie starts or something? Or if the lip sync matches with the character's name, just make them say the damn name for god sake! I've noticed that most of the time the Japanese pronounce oneechan as "Nay-chan", which in lip sync matches with Sango. Sorry, i know i complain too much about this stuff but do you see now why i don't watch dubs?? xD By the end, i'd be so pissed off and rambling to myself for hours lol. Also the altered (for no real reason!) title says it all xD "Love that transcends time" sounds SO much cooler! But "Affections touching across time"?!!? WTH?! That just makes the movie sound corny and mushy, which it isn't at all! Well not the jap version anyway!! ....uhh..i'll stop now! xD

But Kagome's voice is so much deeper in the original!
That, and, I watched it both subbed and dubbed, and the script was nearly the same. So unless the sub was off too, the dub wasn't off at all.

They didn't alter the script much at all. Not all dubs alter the scripts badly, just things that 4Kids and Nelvana get. Dubs are better than they're given credit for. Go watch the FLCL dub. =3 Plus, they might've said that "Hello my dear brother" thing in ancient times. *coughcuzthey'reweirdlikethatcough* >_>

Actaully some japanese series say Oneechan, it's not that they say nee-chan to fit the lips. It's just a shortend version of it that's used in different seires. Anyways, Oneechan means Sister, so why do you not like that when they say it? Usually when Animes are dubbed they remove the japanese feel of it. Only one seires I've watched dubbed, which was Cat Girl Nuku Nuku TV, kept various japanese words, suffixes and prefixes in the official dub.

Oh xD Well from the dubbed ep 24 that i remember, he called her "Sister" i think? Or maybe i'm totally wrong and my memory is playing its common memory-like-a-fish thing lol
I think the anime that REALLY annoyed me most at this though was Fruits Basket where Kisa calls Tohru "Sissy". Apart from anything, to kids (or teens >>;) who watch the dubbed FB would probably be confused because obviously Kisa and Tohru are NOT related xD and "Oneechan/Neechan" lip sync matches with "Tohru", so i think that really annoyed me ^^; But i've only watched a small clip with Tohru and Kisa from the dub, so as far as i know, thats the only time she says it? *Shrug* i'm not a huge FUNimation fan anyway xD But now i'm rambling about Fruits Basket when this is supposed to be about Inuyasha xD Sorry.

Yeah i know, but what i meant was the movie has A LOT of action in it too, not just mushy romance scenes. I just thought the title "Affections touching across time" sounded a bit too mushy. Well I got it and must say that I think it was an awesome movie. Richard Cox brings Inuyasha to life better than ever and proves to me once and for all that there is no better voice for Inuyasha then his. Kagome sounded good along with Miroku and Sango. I think Im gonna go watch it aain.
