Happy Town

Welcome all to the happy little town known as Happy Town. Why is it called Happy Town you may ask? Why, because it's the happiest town you'll ever know in your life. Who couldn't be happy living next to a chocolate lake, under the shade of the biggest apple tree in the world, in little mushroom shaped houses, with perfectly dubbed anime on every other channel. Everyone in this town is always happy and cheerful and... wait. What's this? Goodness! Is that... it is! It's an unhappy person! *collective gasp*

This must be the work of the Doom and Gloom Gnomes! Their misson is to go around at night and turn the citizens of Happy Town sad and gloomy until more than half the town is overrun by sadness. They must be stopped before they take over! It's up to you, fair citizens, to discover the Doom and Gloom Fairies and send them away to the only place a sad person can be sent: the eternal chamber of badly played accordian music.

I am the sun that shines over Happy Town. As long as I am in the sky the Doom and Gloom Gnomes cannot attack, and it is your opportunity to try and figure out who they are. But when night falls, I cannot protect you. Some of you may have special abilities to help the citizens of Happy Town while I am asleep, but in the end, it will all come down to the vote.Click

What is this monstosity?
Happy Town is a version of Mafia that I used to run for the little kids at girl scout camp. Mafias, killings, lynchings, etc. are too scary for five year olds, so we created this instead. It's probably the cutest and most messed up game of Mafia you'll ever play, but it's still Mafia, and under it's chocolate coated exterior, it's still familiar ground.

Rules:
-All pervious Mafia rules apply. http://voiceactingalliance.com/board/showthread.php?t=23411 You break them, you go to sleep for the rest of the day, no questions asked.
-Do not talk about this game outside of this thread unless your role specifically says you can.
-Don't go spying on who's PMing who and peaking at the Currently Active Member's List. That's not cool and no fun at all.
-You know what else is not cool or fun? Shouting your role to the heavens. Making hints and giving little clues, even acting a little in character is fine, but don't just come out and say. "I'm Mr. McPuffPuff (not a real role) and therefore not evil!"

Who can sign up?
This game is generally smaller than the others, and I would like to give those who are not currently enrolled in another mafia or have never played before priority. If there are not enough sign ups by 8 PM EST, then people in other games can join in.

How do I win?

The sun (that's me) rises on the first day. The citizens of Happy Town gather together and settle into the branches of the big tree to begin the town meeting and munch on a few apples for breakfast. What will happen today? Let's begin.

With 12 people still happy, it takes 7 votes to send to the eternal chamber of badly played accordian music. I will automatically set if a majority is not reached by MIDNIGHT EST, and the person with the most votes will be sent away.

Day 2

The sun (me again ^_^) rises on the second day. The people of Happy Town gather together under the big tree looking generally happy all around. But in the distance they hear a foreign sound. It's he sound of... crying? Huddled together in a group they akwardly move through clusters of houses until they arrive in front of the one where it is loudest.

One brave soul opens the door to reveal a sorry sight. A house that might have at one point been covered with bright yellow happy face paraphernalia is now overrun by dull red sad faces. The remains of an evil crackle ring through the room over it's victim.

YINGFASTAR, YELLOW HAPPY FACE and TOWNIE has been turned sad. As she is dragged to the eternal chamber of badly played accordian music to sit with the other sad people, the towns people decide on who they will send in there to join her.

With 10 people still happy, it takes 6 votes to send to the eternal chamber of badly played accordian music. I will automatically set if a majority is not reached by 3 AM EST, and the person with the most votes will be sent away.

Sitting happily next to the chocolate lake under the shade of the leaves of the apple tree, the town debates over who to vote out. Scarlotte? Klay? Chinomi? Jaela? Who on earth could be a Doom and Gloom Gnome?

"I'm gonna go take a nap," says Pestilence and Carnage. "Good night all you Happy People."

As he walks away the town eyes him suspiciously. A nap in the middle of a happy bright shining day? Quoting unhappy cartoon dogs? A name that is dark and morbid? Could he be...

"I say we send away Pestilence and Carnage!" One voice speaks up.
"I agree!" says another. And another and another and another.

And with the decision reached the town marches off to Pestilence and Carnage's house where he curled up in bed wearing feet pajamas, hugging a teddy bear, sound asleep. Not even bothering to wake him up, they pick him up and dump him into the eternal chamber of badly played accordian music where he is about to recive a very rude awakening.

While in his house the town has noticed Dark shades, hidden frowning faces, and a list of town members with black targets drawn next to them.

Pestilence and Carnage, DOOM AND GLOOM GNOME has been sent to the ECOBPAM.

I will be setting now and will rise at 9 AM EST. You have until then to send me night actions if you have them.

The sun (atashi desu~) rises on another beautiful day. The town pops out of their houses, bright eyed and bushy tailed, ready to gather under the big tree for another meeting. But wait! What's this?

Something terrible has happened to the big tree! It's braches are droopy and the leaves are no longer bright green! Even all the apples have shrivled up and turned brown. It is clear that the Doom and Gloom Gnomes are more evil than we expected.

LEIKO, BIG TREE, and TOWNIE has been turned sad!

As town members try to figure out how on earth they are going to haul a tree into the ECOBPAM, they look around the remaining members, trying to find out who among them could have done this.

With 8 people still happy, it takes 5 votes to send to the eternal chamber of badly played accordian music. I will automatically set if a majority is not reached by 4 PM EST, and the person with the most votes will be sent away.

With all threir focus on trying to get the Big Tree into the ECOBPAM (A task that, by the way, could not be managed so instead giant headphones playing bad accordian music were placed on the tree) the town forgot to figure out who among them was a Doom and Gloom Gnome.

"What do we do? The day's almost over!"

As they try to decide who to vote out, one brave soul steps forward.

"I'll sacrifice myself for this town," says happyheartme. "Send me to the ECOBPAM."

"No, we can't do that! If you're sacrificing yourself, then you must be innocent!"

"How about Jaela? We can send her."

"Uh... okay!"

But while the town decides who to vote for, I set completely, thus ending the day with a torn vote.

IT IS A TIE and therefore, NOBODY has been sent to the ECOBPAM.

I have set and will rise at 6:30 PM EST (about 2 1/2 hours.) Everyone has until then to send in night actions.

The sun rises (you know the drill by now) and the town gathers in the center of town and scans the happy faces. But there is one smiling face missing. Searching through the town they collectively reach the chocolate lake where they see a lone figure trying to pull grass out of the ground with suction cups. She looks up and burst into tears because it isn't working.

SCARLOTTE, ELF and TOWNIE has been turned sad.

But wait there's more. One member of the town has also been acting strangely. Did something happen? Is she sick? Did she forget to take her medication? Who knows, but she is certainly not fit to vote today.

AYAME-CHAN is not able to vote today. (Although you can talk all you want from your sick bed.)

With 7 still happy but 6 fit to vote, it take 4 to send to the ECOBPAM. I will automatically set if a majority is not reached by 9:30 PM EST, and the person with the most votes will be sent away.

In MANY of the previous games, when there seemed like no way out, the mafia player would vote for themselves saying "I VOTED FOR MYSELF!!! VOTE ME OUT!!!" In a desperate attempt to make themselves look innocent last-minute.

Of course, I'm taking this from other games.

The town makes a grab at happyheartmee who doesn't even get a chance to defend herself. They march her off to the eternal chamber of badly played accordian music and sit her down wih the other goomy and accused people. Ready for clean up time, the town skips off to happy's place, whistling a happy satified tune.

The sun (blah blah blah) rises on a new day. The citizens of happy town gather together, happy for the most part, although a little nervous about what the day brings. However, a look around shows some pleasently surprising results.

NO ONE has been turned gloomy tonight.

But not everyone has come out of the night unharmed. One person seems rather twichy and is in a half happy/half gloomy mode. What on earth could have happened?

CHINOMI is very confused and is unable to vote today. (But had just enough sense left to talk)

The town is caught in a heated debate, much of which involves chocolate and muffins. Who to believe? Who is the truely gloomy one?

Just as it gets intense, a piece of paper with an AIM logo flutters down from the sky. The town pauses their fight and crowds around it and read the message scrawled on it.

In a panic Chinomi runs to her house and comes back out holding a sack. She tries to run but is cut off by a semi-circle of towns people.

"There she is!" someone calls out. "I bet that's the bag with stuff she uses to make people sad!"

Chinomi stomps her feet and waves her arms in defense. "No, it's not! I'm not the sad one! All I do is harvest happy potatos!" She shows everyone a picture of a potato on her sack. "You're after someone with muffins! Seriously!"

(3) You are a DOOM AND GLOOM GNOME. You are a little potato shaped thing that is extreamly emo (no pun intended.) Each night you and the other Doom and Gloom Gnomes can choose one member of Happy Town and turn them gloomy just like you. Since wandering around at night in a group is suspicious, you must designate which member will be performing your night action. It does not have to be the same perrson each night. You are allowed to meet and talk all you want amongst yourselves all you want at anytime because you have little secret hiding holess all over the town.

In some less happy towns, you would be considered MAFIA.

(1) You are the MAYOR OF HAPPY TOWN. As Mayor, you are the happiest person in town. Because of you exream happiness, if you are targeted in the middle of the night, you have a 30% chance of not being turned gloomy. Because you are so happy, you must have some form of a smiley in every post you make. ( :), ^_^, =), :D, etc...)

In some less happy towns you would be considered TOWN.

(1) You are a CHOCOLATE FAIRY. Everyone knows that chocolate is the one thing on earth that can make people happy, so each night you can chose one member of the town and give them chocolate. If they are a Doom and Gloom Fairy, you send them into a wave of confusion as the happiness clashes with their gloominess, and they are unable to vote the next day.

In some less happy towns you would be considered TOWN.

(1) You are the KNIGHT IN SHINING ARMOR. Having been blasted in from the middle ages, you find it your responsibility to protect the citizens of Happy Town. Each night you can shield another citizen with your magic shining heart shaped shield and stop any incoming night actions on them with a 30% chance of success.

(1) You are the PEAKING DUCK. You read alot of mystery books and are a very suspicious duck (you even have a monocle!) Each night you can waddle through the town and peak into the house of any citizen and find out their role. Lucky for you all the windows are low enough that you can see in.

(1) You are the ELF. You are an fair haired kid in green tights who perfers to work from a distance. With your magical suction cup arrows, you can shoot at any citizen with a 50% chance of it sticking to them. (1) You are the BIG TREE. You tower over the entire town and see everything that happens. Every night you can spy on any two citizens of your choosing and find out what they did that night.
