The Date is June 9th, 2008. Welcome to Allerton City, a bustling urban center in the Western United States. Allerton has always been recognized as an economic success, despite the fact that its many ghettos have been rife with crime for the last couple of decades. But lately, things have changed. Something is going on in Allerton. Two rival Mafia families conduct secret wars on streets where the streetlights never come on. Strange killings have almost become business as usual. Citizens frequently feel and odd tingle creep up their neck when they're alone in broad daylight. Something has to be done. Many rally in an attempt to rid the town of the clandestine scum. And yet, life goes on. Welcome to DARK MAFIA.


This game is ACTIVE, accepting sign-ups, and will start as soon as we have, at MINIMUM, 20 players. I would prefer to have more than that, but 20 will be sufficient.

Also note that since this is a bit of a slower-paced game, feel free to sign up for another in addition to this one if you wish. It will give you something to do while you wait if one of my night phases takes a while to resolve.

Here is the current player list. The expected player cap is 24, give or take a few. Feel free to sign up no matter how many others have, and I'll let you know if I can fit you in.

Here's what you need to know:

-All rules that have applied to past mafia games (no editing, no discussion outside the thread unless your role allows, etc.) will apply to this game as well.

- IF THIS IS YOUR FIRST MAFIA GAME, PLEASE watch THIS (http://www.sitesled.com/members/mikeburnfire/mafiascum04.swf) Flash Tutorial to familiarize yourself with how the game USUALLY works, and what the normal roles are. If you don't understand the normal rules, you'll be extremely lost with all of the radical rules variations I have added.

-The game will have two separate, asymmetrical (both have different powers) mafia families of equal size.

-There is something... "Special"... a twist, if you will, regarding each family. What is that twist? Well, you'll only find out if you are put into one of the families. Members of either family will know the twist surrounding their family, and the opposing family. The other players will only know that there are two, warring mafia families.

-Two players will be working together in a Mason-like fashion, but there's also a twist with them that they alone will be aware of. These two are also aware of the unique "abilities" of both families, and will also each have power similar to a vigilante.

-ONE player will be... well... something altogether different. I'm not sure I can compare him to any of the classic roles, but know that this guy will be a force to be reckoned with- and thus, a very large target.

-There will also be a small number of Priests (a lot like a doctor) and cops (function like normal, for the most part) depending on the overall game size.

-The rest will be townies, who function as normal unless.... well... "recruited" into one of the other factions. Certain townies will randomly acquire special "jobs" such as Forensic Examiner randomly as the game progresses.

-This game may be a bit slower-paced than previous ones due to my current schedule. Don't be surprised if a few day or night phases have to last a couple hours while I am not in the vicinity of computer access. This may even turn into a 2- day game (with a break for sleep, of course) depending on how long it takes one side to win.

-This game will depend a fair bit on active players, so let me know if you don't think you can be active during the time the game is taking place.

Note to ALL PLAYERS:

The way I am choosing roles is by drawing a role randomly from a box, then a corresponding number to go with that role.

They way I have it set up, I will be able to scale the game from anywhere between 20 and 24 players and still keep things completely balanced AND random. Therefore, I can begin assigning roles now, based on number, even though I am not sure of the exact number of players yet. As such, some of you may start recieving PMs within the next few minutes revealing your role. Keep an eye out.

-A strange pile of ash was found downtown with a sharpened, wooden implement among the remains. This find still baffles city Police.

The way this game is designed, a lynching doesn't NESSECERILY have to take place every day. If 12 votes are not cast to one player, there will be no lynching.
