Authors like Julie Garwood, Julia Quinn, Karen Hawkins, Amanda Quick.... yikes I can name lists and lists of authors I've read... but for those who are into em... Who's your most favorite favorite author? Favorite book? Author Recommendations? For those who are avid readers (like me hehe) It's sooo hard to find good new authors to read.

Favorite Book: Saving Grace By: Julie Garwood
Author Recommendations: Julia Quinn, Julie Garwood, Judith McNaught, Hannah Howell, Amanda Quick, Karen Hawkins and Christina Dodd.

I did read a great historical romance book once. but darned if I can remember who wrote it or what it was called >.< Shoot. I'll think of it again I'm sure. But it was set in Puritanical era America about a young woman who moved to town and took in the town mute, because the townspeople were abusing him (they thought he had a demon or something XP). So she took him in and they developed a way to communicate and fell in love and then people started accusing her of being a witch. It was quite good. I'll see if I can track down the title next time I'm at the library.

I like historical fiction in general. James Clavel for example *_*.
I think I've only read historical romance in French though... ^^;;

^-^ Oh, do I ever!
Karen Marie Moning - I've read/own all of the books she has out right now. And that's only five, but STILL. However, it's a.. well, one of those more mature novels. There is quite a bit of sexuality going on, so be forewarned. But they're wonderful. They're all set in medieval Scotland with big, handsome Scottish Lards. But, I can't really describe what I love about them so much. They just draw me in because the romance is so powerful. Anyhow, my suggestion - read her first one, Beyond the Highland Mist.
EXCELLENT.

I don't think Jane Austen really counts in this category, and those who try to recreate the genre usually fall far below my expectations.
So no, not really

I dunno about romance, but historical fiction rules. Quicksilver is the awesomest book I've read in a long time.

Agreed.
The only bodice ripper author that I like is Kathleen E. Woodiwiss. Sure, she does the typical "perfect heroine, perfect hero, constant babble about their beauty, everybody loves them, etc etc etc" schpeel, but she weaves a good mystery, too. And Jeff was a rockin' character.

Yeah! i love 'um!
I love "Pride and Predudice" and "sense and sensability" by Jane Austin. Both were great movies too ^^
(though in her time it was just "Romance" ^^;;;;;;;;

Not in general, no.
But Diana Gabaldon is an absolute goddess and her Outlander series is pure brilliance.

Seconding Diana Gabaldon and Outlander. It's one of those books that you describe it to people ("Time traveling WWII nurse and scottish warrior in the 1700s") and they're like "Uh... huh." But it's seriously one of the most amazing books I've ever read, romance or not-- it's got plenty of romance, but it's also got adventure and mystery and so much else, and her writing is amazing.
They're also about nine hundred pages each. Dime-store romance this is not. xD
