I've been waiting for this for a while now. Can't wait!
If Joel Schumacher can pull this off I just might forgive him for his castration of the Batman franchise.....then again, nope. No forgiveness for that.

*_*
I'm so going to redo my Christine costume! *_*
It looks just as good as The Phantom Lover. Everything I imagined a POTO movie to be.
While it looks pretty, I won't fully climax until I hear vocals. Thanks for sharing. *_*

It's a Jerry Bruckheimer production, so I'm just waiting to see what blows up.

They'll change the ending so the Phantom doesn't die. He just gets REALLY PISSED OFF AND HORNY!
And blows up the Opera House. Cows and pick up trucks will fly everywhere.

Well, in the musical they don't exactly show him dying. My guess is that they'd change that and actually have him die in the film. Let me count the ways...

In the musical they don't exactly show him being the horrible monster who tortures people to death for fun, like they do in the book.

Why do you think people felt the need to make a movie of the musical?

The rampant success of Moulin Rouge and Chicago.
*shrug*
But personally, I *like* having movie version of musicals, I own several of them. It's nice to be able to just press a button and *Bam* there it is, instead of having to go to the theatre. And besides, the theatre isn't always showing stuff I want to see ^.^;

Bah, life is too short to contemplate Andrew Lloyd Webber.

The rampant success of Moulin Rouge and Chicago.
And Grease! You cannot forget Grease!
...And I own all 3 of the aforementioned. XD
And The Wizard of Oz. Hell, nearly all Broadway musicals made into movies are huge successes. The question should not be "why?", but "why NOT?".
I saw Phantom of the Opera on Broadway. It was amazing. *dies*

To that I say, "Duh"
They never have it completely accurate to the book, not even in the first movie, which came so damn close right until the test audience said they didn't get the ending of him being a psycho killer, but willing to let Christine, Raoul and the [often absent] Persian live because she gave him his first [and only] kiss. Universal changed the ending after that.
I'm sure nowadays it could be done true to the book, but people seem to prefer making their own personally crafted models, rather than copying the original. Sometimes this has been good, sometimes this has been bad. I should know, I own almost all of them.

Whether he really does die in the end of the musical is debatable. I hope they will stay true to the musical and just... leave you guessing. I liked the ending ^.^!
I thank GOD for Moulin Rouge! Thanks to that movie, movie musicals have made a comeback now and they are gonna be around for awhile. They have at least two more musical movies in the works. A remake of "Hairspray" with music this time and the BIG one... "The Producers.” Can't wait for THAT!
Personally, I'm hoping that this new trend is gonna produce quite a few big movie musicals. I’m waiting for a "Wicked" movie. Lol.

If the funny little ballet girls or whatever they were in the musical make a serious presence, without screaming.. I'll die of shock.

First the Last Unicorn, now this?! OOOOHH BABY I'M IN HEAVEN!
Amby: Also, I would like to add, in the book, which the musical is based off of, he DOES die... but I prefer not knowing over knowing he dies. ;_; I love teh phantomzorz.
