Hey any one ever heard of mirc?.... Well I have been on it for awhile and have seen many subbing groups, that spit out the anime like it's no bodys business... Well I had an idea... What if there was a Fan Dub group... What if the most talented mixers, actors and more came together and formed a group? We could also get some raw providers, translators, typesetters, sound effect hunters, bittorrent seeders and much more. This way, everyone can help eatchother out, the dubs come out quicker, raws are easy to find etc... Highquality and low quality dubs can be released too... Maybe blue-sama and Azure-sama could open up an irc dub group.... Hmmm well those are my thoughts... Anyone intrested e-mail me sailorneptune1983@yahoo.com also if this post is against board rules I am sorry just let me know and I will rip it down k ^___^

This goes in ideas, although there's nothing stopping people helping each other already.

Irc is actually pretty nifty. It's one of the best ways, I find, of downloading. :) If you know the commands, Fserves can be used to download OSTs and other such delights. (Which is how I get much of the music I listen to these days >D).

I just had the idea, cause you can find ANYTHING on irc if you look... That means you have unlimited raws and everything if you know where to look. Also if would be good to have an active chatroom where all the people in the fan ddub commiunity could chat and stuff. Another thing most of the translators, typesetters (people that do all the fancy effects on the subtitles), encoders and more only choose to hang out on irc. I know it would be very helpful for the mixers, especailly the busy ones to get some extra help on the things that take too much time. Also it is a good place to share/give files. It would be cool to have a giant group that puts out fandubs, like other groups put out fan subs. Anywho once again anyone that is intrested contact me at the above e-mail... I will help you out with the irc basics...

Thanks

I'd join in this. Just let me know the IRC address and I'm there.

Ooh, ooh, I shall offer my services in this idea. I actually did this sort of thing in IRC/BT awhile back with KNS's Ep 1 release of Naruto, so I have a slight clue on what is one of the aspects you can expect out of this venture, at least early on.... I shan't give the details here of that aspect, as it's rather lengthy and hard to summarize, but give me a ring whenever you get an IRC channel up or AIM and I'll give you the scoop.

That doesn't really sound like any fun to me :/ I mean, in order to get those things out as quickly as you seem to want to get them out, you'd have to have decent VAers that are available on call 24 hours a day without anything to do but record a bunch of lines, and then you'd need a mixer who's willing to put it all together in a short about of time.

It just seems too...um...industrial. People fandub things for fun, not because there's a desperate need for dubbed anime. The reason why the IRC subtitle groups are so popular is because no one wants to wait to watch the newest anime craze out of Japan.

Ontop of that, you'd probably get more complaints than compliments. It's usually the hardcore anime fans that hang around IRC chats to get there anime the moment it's available and most of those people aren't fond of the high quality company dubbings of their favorite shows. They'll probably be even less kind to whatever faults you make in your dubbing.

She wins the prize.....as that's the detailed event that happened when I released Episode 1 of Naruto on IRC. Damn sub freaks who found a way to insult even the great Blue-sama's acting and the self-absorbed fansub groups who thought subbing was harder than dubbing when I spend twice as long mixing anything from the BGM up as compared to timing/typesetting/encoding a SSA script.

I had fun banning all of the morons though. Hardcore anime fans have such dirty mouths I got sick of most of them. You'd think with their god like status, they'd have god-like nettiquite sense. And I did get a few nice things, such as from the people from Toriyama's World, who gave me permission to use AK of Troy's translations as the basis for my scripts, as well as several nice tweaks for audio/video related things....

But nah, it doesn't have to be "industrial" really. It's been a good 5-6 months since Naruto Ep. 1's release and I still have people mailing/AIMing me and keeping touch with the progress of the next episode. The smart people who actually have more than an IQ of 3. And that's a-okay with me.

(And plus, when you boot someone, they usually just log right back on.)

I personally prefer just to use IRC as a way of finding the resources that I need, and falling back on the chat area when I have to actually sit and wait for things to download.

Yes it won't put any stress on the VA's at all.... but in my case at least I have all these lines in, I still need to find sound effects, type set, and other stuff... It might get more projects out and help new bees by letting them help out in dubs in other ways besides mixing and acting.... My pointis this, you don't think that sub groups have a lot of stress on them to release something every week? Also I have had a dubbing channel on irc before and it was just mine and it did really good, there are a lot of die hard dubbies out there and a lot of people that want to Voice act that go on there as well... It wouldn't put any stress on the VAs though... I would just help mixers get things out sooner rather than later once they got the lines in.... ^__^ Also people could chat in the room and ask people questions in a live chat so it would be easy to get answers right then and there.... It would just be fun hehehehe.... So don't worry hun mmmkay.... IRC is limitless lol ^__^
