**Ack this it in the wrong section. @__@ I feel dumb, Mod, please move it. ^_^; )

The new Harry Potter book title was announced today~! :B

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows
I don't know about you guys, but I still like this series...*cough* :whoops:

Anyone else here like it too? x)
What do you think "The Hallows" are?
It made me think of Bleach, Lol.

I, definetly, am one of the ones who thought it said 'hollows' at first.

Perhaps because I was half asleep on the couch with my mom watching the news when they said it.

I love the series but Harry is a little.. gfflkdsn.
BUT IF HE DRESSES UP IN A BLACK HAKAMA AND GETS THAT SWORD BACK I MAY RECONCIDER!

If Ron or Luna dies in this I'm crying. I've never cried in a Harry Potter book before, either 8D

It's Godric's Hollow, I think. What I'm thinking is that it has something to do with Halloween, since Harry's parents died that night.

Yup. Hogwarts is awesome. But I have a feeling Harry might just go find the Horcrux's. Anything can happen. Maybe the final battle will end up taking place at Hogwarts.

Was surprised the thread wasn't updated, but i think its safe enough to stick in here.
For HP fans (like you didn't already know)

release date for final book is
21st July 2007 (about 2 weeks after 5th movie)

July's set to be an magical month ;)

Some other little details for you HP fans out there. It has been announced that 2 main characters are to die in this book. Betting has already taken place that one of these people is Harry with many bookies pacing 2/1 odds that voldemort is the one who kills him. There are also bets that Ron and Hermione get married although I found that highly doubtful but secretly want it to happen for humour's sake.
Lastly the release was declared a few days after someone had dicovered a message in a hotel J.K had supposedly stayed stating that the seventh book was finished. Quite a contrast to the cafe she wrote the earlier ones at. (ME a HP fan? Surely not.)

yeah, i remember when she said that on Richard and Judy show, it just seems 'heroic' if harry dies (or expected) but i doubt hermione or ron will follow, rather if those two quit arguing and get to together, that'd be nice :P

I'd go for harry and snape honestly.

Deathly = causing death
Hallow = sacred object

I like Malfoy too.

i'm sorry yukie, its not like you've had someone try to kill you in the last 6 years of your life...every academic year as well as have your only blood relative that you love, die and you're closest adult friend...die by one of the people you hate the most, and you have no choice but to fight the most powerful evil wizards in your world cause of a decision your mother made, lol..what else ah yeah
the fate of the world (most likely human too) depends on you not failing.
ooh ooh
as well as being a teenager, getting decent grades in school and dealing with this magic malarky.

somehow i think Harry is allowed his random PMS's at times, esp in last 2 books, lol.
And don't under estimate Rowling, she's kinda unpredictable with killing people off.
He dies, he becomes a martyr really :P

how long now..meh 4 more months ><;;;

Somewhere on the internets a fangirl just died.

As for Harry and death...well the sort of story she has weaved so far kinda sets up for that. You can read a million different theories, but in the end I still won't be reading another damn book she writes.

:/ writing style makes me feel like she's talking down to me. It's just too simple, sure it's a sorta kids book but even kids have standards.

See... I have read about THREE totally different verisons of the "leaked" book already so yeah don't trust that shit. Their is not telling which version is the offical one if ANY of them are the really one. In the most popular leaked book, basically everything you said is totally the opposite of what happens in that version. And FAR more people die. LOTS AND LOTS more in fact.

How about we... oh I don't know... wait the 24 more hours to read the ACTUAL book. OH, and please go back and put the spoiler tags (as in the ones that the admins have provided for us) on all you posted JUST incase they are correct.

SO... the NY Times had apparently confirmed today that the popular "carpet book" is the TRUE leaked book. This has been determined since a store in New York broke the contract with the publisher and started selling the book three days early. The New York Time snagged a copy from the store and compaired the images found on the internet to the book and confirm that it IS genuine.

I don't know if I still believe it or not. I kinda do because of what I read about it and from it, it all sounds about right. Except the epilogue... the epilogue is, well... spoiler tags! (Can you resist the last few hours without highlighting the spoiler tags?! BWAHAHAHA!)

Everyone lives happily ever after. A little TOO happily ever after! Harry and Ginny have three kids, Ron and Hermoine have two, Bill and Fleur have a kid, HELL even Draco has a kid. And they are all little mini-me versions of their parents. And they all just happen to be about the same age so all there kids are friends (enemy in the case of Draco's kid). It's just so out of place from the rest of the series I think. It's corny, it's cheesy, it's SUPER happy.

Oh and the death count is HUGE! Though it's mainly minor and secondary characters, it's much larger then I originally thought it would be. Almost 20 people bite the big one.

Even still, I still have my doubts. I am thinking of going out at midnight to search for a copy.

I know right! I mean, I know that JKR wrote the epilogue WAY back when she did the first book. She has known how the series would end from the start, but you'd think after the series grew to become so dark she might have altered it to fit a little bit better. There is nothing wrong with a happy ending, but that is just down right cheese-tastic!

You know what really pisses me off?
I was trolling around Wikipedia just a few hours before, looking up stuff on Tonks and Metamorphmagus for a Harry Potter RPG I'm doing with something, and they have descriptions of what she's done in each of the books that she's in, including Deathly Hallows. So I got to find out they killed off my favourite non-main character before I could read it myself. First Sirius (my favourite until he kicked it), then Tonks spoiled. I hate you, Wikipedia.
Honestly, I wished they'd never leaked in the first place, because I could have avoided that frustration.

I have not read anything in this thread. I don't plan too until I finish the book. Unlike everyone else, I savour it as much as I can.

I took some pictures from last night. I'll upload them later tonight. I was voted as "Biggest Fan" in my city so I got my book for free which was signed by J.K.Rowling and I got to send a personal letter to her. That was pretty cool.

I also get to be on the front page of the newspaper tomorrow in my costume holding up my book in pouring weather... Like, my neighbourhood was flooded. xD!

Yeah, same here. Although I may be very tempted to read the spoilers, I refuse to. As it is, my book probably won't be coming in another week, and quite honestly I can't wait that long, so I'll probably be sending my British copy as Return to Sender and getting my money back. I'll by all of the British releases when they come out in paperback, since I tend to like those better (they fit in my purse =D). But yeah, as soon as I'm done cleaning (which should be within the hour), I'm running to grab a copy, since I have a bookstore that has it on hold for me now :3

Then I'll gush with y'all, since I'm a fast reader and have nothing better to do today.

I've just finished about 20 minutes ago.
I guess I should be totally depressed, seeing as my two favorite characters(Lupin and Tonks) died, but they did die nobly, in battle. I'm a hopeless romantic, which is maybe why I found the ending so satisfying. I suspect some won't be happy with it. But I definitely am. =D
I also feel proud that I stuck by Snape, and thus Dumbledore, the whole time. I was one of those people at the release party wearing one of those "Snape is Loyal" stickers, and I hugged a few others for their intelligence and loyalty. I kept saying that it was an insult to Dumbledore's memory to think Snape was capable of deceiving him!
Dang, Teddie must have been an adorable baby, and now he's shaping up to be a severe hottie, I'm sure. He had, like, the greatest parents ever.
Goodness gracious... poor Moody. And poor Hikar-- I mean Fred. <.< I thought their deaths were rather random and startling, but I guess that's war... right?
I find it awesome that Luna's dad's story actually ended up being true. In your face, Hermione! XD
Uhhh yeah. That was me at the release party with the Snape sticker, 'Ravenclaw' written across my face, and 'Luna 4 Prez' written on my shoulder.
This is a rather random and badly organized post, but I kind of haven't slept a whole lot. Who needs sleep when you can read, hey?
Can't wait to read through the whole series with my sis. I'm totally gonna live vicariously through her. I miss readding each book for the first time. Oh mannnn....
I hope my friend gets done with it soon so we can have a nice, long phone call. She'll be happy, since McGonagall didn't die. =)

You see, Harry finds out that Vader is really his father, the psychiatrist was actually dead the whole time, the body lying in the middle of the floor was really alive, Rosebud is the old sled's name, "To Serve Man" is a cookbook, Luna is Althena, Zelda is Sheik, Tyler Durden is imaginary, Racer X and Speed are brothers, the planet is actually Earth, Norman only imagines his mother, Frodo is consumed by the Ring, the human race is actually enslaved in a virtual reality program, the old narrator is really the young Tom Hanks, the girl is a guy, The Boss was actually on your side, the president is the third clone, the Colonel is a program, soylent green is people, Samus is a woman, Mr. Glass set up everything, everything on the tv is a video tape, it was just a dream, it's actually modern times, there are soldiers in the wooden horse, humans are the main component of an advanced computer, Max Winters is the immortal emperor, Maggie shot Mr. Burns, Doc Brown was wearing a bullet-proof vest, the Emperor is betrayed by his apprentice, Captain America dies, Jean dies, Wolfwood dies, Aeris dies, Trinity dies, Harry Osborne dies, Mace Windu dies, V dies, Old Yeller dies, Captain Ahab and the crew die, Neo (maybe) dies, Gandalf doesn't die, HAL is disconnected, Jack is eaten by the Kraken, and Snape kills Dumbledore!

Juust finished it a few hours ago (I'm such a slow reader, sigh).
Good points:
Snape WAS on the good side, someone owes me money (>3), pretty much everything wrapped up nice neat and toasty, Wormtail dies, Voldemort dies

Bad points:
Not only did Snape, Dobby, Tonks and even Hedwig die, so did FRED AND LUPIN (as if Sirius wasn't bad enough T-T), Harry acts annoyingly dense for much of the book, I was able to predict certain plot points from kilometers away

Fredddd...and Lupin...and Tonks...and Snape...T-T

Read it in under 6 hours, so I finshed it on the day it came out, but...
Comprehensive list of who died:
Fred Weasley
Dobby
Hedwig
Tonks
Remus Lupin
Snape
Voldemort
Bellatrix Lestrange
Crabbe
Colin Creevy
A bunch of Death eaters
A bunch of goblins
& 50 odd people at the final fight
and many others! 0.0;; (considering I missed a ton of people.)

The seventh book is such a dark book, but I really liked it, probably one of my favourites too. I can't wait to see the movie of this book >D <3 <3 <3 It will be great. It pretty much answered all the questions I had from the previous books, so I think that it was really well written as it linked back to all of them. It was really sad though that so many people died though T.T I thought it was really sweet at the end at the '19 years later' part ^^ It was so cute that he named them after Dumbledore and Snape etc.
... Off to see the fifth movie again >D

Finished at about 6 am this morning!
Okay, so before I give a serious opinion on the book, I have but one thing to say: Professor Trelawney is my hero. To throw crystal balls at Fenrir Greyback... I thought I'd die laughing at that point!

So all and all, I kind of predicted the main parts of the book. The fact that Harry was a horcrux (I really thought that that was obvious, but so many people doubted me), Snape's innocence and that the events that took place the night that he died had to have been planned, that somehow the Malfoy's (I thought it was gonna be Draco) would end up helping Harry, that Snape would somehow help Harry. Things went full-circle, although there was a lot of swearing and whatnot at the way that some things did come full circle.

I had already known about Tonks, but the fact that they orphaned poor Teddy really kid of pissed me off. I know, I know, it was war, a lot of people died, but I think she kind of pulled a Sirius--completely annoying and disappointing way to kill--with them, which really irritated me.

Fred, well... I was so shocked that I had to read it again. And Dobby... that really depressed me.

Okay, so I know that a lot of people didn't like the ending, but I absolutely loved it. Yeah, it was campy and a little bit too happy of an ending for a quite dark and--at times--somewhat disturbing book, but I think that all of the fans saw it coming, and honestly I would have felt shafted if things tied themselves without Harry, Ron and Hermione in the same fashion that they had. At least Teddy got to know and keep his Godfather. I was happy for that. I would have, however, liked to have seen things tied up for more of the other characters, particularly Luna. I adore her still.

Neville being the Herbology teacher made me smile.

I can't wait to see what they're going to do with the movie. There were so many epic moments that I think are gonna translate so well to the screen. I will say that the read was bittersweet--I found myself not wanting it to end--but I absolutely loved it.

Glad to know I'm not alone, then. xD

Also, tell me I'm not the only one who just DIED laughing when Mrs. Weasley took over fighting Bellatrix at the end, and shouted "NOT MY DAUGHTER, YOU BITCH!" That, and Ron's line about Kreacher and having previously wanted to cut off his head and stick it on the wall were priceless, man. xD As dark as the majority of the book was, I think it certainly did have a few moments like that to kind of break the tension, or something.

What she did to Hermoine? ... Oh I remember know, yup totally evil for doing that, but she's beyond the realms of sadistic ^^;;; I was literally twitching myself when I was reading that part. She has a very strong, dominating sort of personality if you know what I mean.

The naming thing towards the end kind of threw me off...when he was like "Albus blah blah" and I was like WHAT?! DUMBLEDORE?! Oh. That's his kid. Right.

I was especially torn apart when Hedwig, Dobby, Tonks, and Lupin died. Hedwig, of all things T__T A-and Dobby! Dobby was trying to help them and he died! And Tonks and Lupin win the second best couple award. (Next to Ron and Hermione >D'') WAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.

And I <3 Harry x Ginny, so I was happy. It was really funny though, because my mom was asking what all happened. I told her Harry and Ginny got together, and she didn't seem surprised at all, but when I said that Ron and Hermione got married, she was shocked.

I'm about halfway through my book, but my neck and back were cramping up from reading 12 chapters in an after noon. 'Course I've already succombed to curiousity and highlighted a spoiler box or 5...
I didn't cry when Hedwig died, but my immediate reaction was "Wait...what...what the ****..". And I never really cared much for Mad-eye, so that didn't hit me too hard. And when I thought Hagrid died I just stopped reading for 5 minutes and said "WTF. 3 PEOPLE DEAD BEFORE CHAPTER 5. :facefault " << 3 if you include Hedwig that is. But, I've made it it halfway without crying. Although the arguement between Hermione, Harry, and Ron, and Ron leaving nearly got me though. D: I had a big "AWWW" moment upon seeing the illustration of Harry and Ginny, in which I had to put the book down for a minute and jump around squeeling. x3 Anyway, off to read more Potter...and of course I'm dreading reading about Fred dieing...I refuse to believe he's dead til I read it with my own eye's damn yuh! :angryrazz ..tonks and lupin too. Unecessary deaths= more discussion -> more readers -> more books sold. Thats pretty much it. I thought the 19 years later thing was abit random to be honest. I had to look twice at the page before it processed through my brain. But I quite like dark/angst/romance/adventure books XD

I just finished reading the book about 5 minutes ago. That was an amazing series. I've never posted a spoiler tag before so I hope it works ^^;;

Wow, I thought that book was really good. I unfourtunateally read some spoilers before I read the book and thought the ending would be worse than I thought. The 19 years later part didn't keep me very entertained and confused me a lot with James, Lily, and Albus.

I thought it was so sad when Dobby had died after he saved them. And I kept on thinking Draco was going to help them in the book. But really, it was his mother who saved Harry.

I never really liked Snape, but in this book when I found out he killed Dumbledore because he told him to, I really liked Snape. He is a really amazing character. I must have looked really suprised when I found out he killed Dumbledore because my mom asked me if Harry Died yet. I actually, as the book went on really liked Snape and felt bad for him and the Malfoy's.

I agree with some people saying Harry was a little dumb in some parts. Right away when they mentioned his friends went to the bathroom it was clear that they were in the bathroom with the Chamber of Secrets.

I was actually also very sad when Dudley had to leave Harry and Harry was never comming back. As mean as they were to him he had spend his whole life there.

Now the Harry Potter series is over, unfourtunateally. But it will still be fun going to the movies.

Actually, I thinkthe deaths being unnecessary was the point. It's a war, people die, without any explanation or reason. Honestly, I would have been surprised if so many notable characters hadn't been killed off.

I do agree with you on feeling that the HarryxGinny paring seemed a bit forced, though. It always just seemed kind of...I dunno, not completely explained, or something. Honestly, I've never really been able to picture Harry with anyone. xD;

Entirely agreed. Just finished the book after a grueling 12 hours of reading/sleeping/reading and I'm a little disappointed. Yeah, it's a war, but it feels like Rowling was using that as an excuse to kill people for shock value. The glossed over death of Remus and Tonks, followed by the "nineteen years later and it's like their son is part of the family, yup yup!" kind of cemented it for me.

AND WAS IT REALLY NECESSARY TO KILL THE FUCKING OWL?!?

Obviously Snape had to die. I had envisioned a more epic death for him, especially once that business with the Elder Wand was brought up. As soon as that came out, I had visions of him turning on the Dark Lord during the final battle between him and Harry Potter, disarming him just as he screamed Avada Kedavra!, snatching the wand as the rightful owner and holding Voldemort back as Harry stumbled his way into defeating him, dying somehow in the process. Probably at the hands of Lestrange. Instead.. he got bit by a snake. BOOOOOO. I suppose it was nice that everything about him was FINALLY revealed, but honestly.. it wasn't any stunning revelation.

As a Snape fan, I do not approve.

Erm.. but seriously, it definitely had me more involved than any other book I've read. Gasping, laughing, crying; kudos to Rowling for inventing a world and characters that I actually grew to care about. Shame on her for deciding to kill half of them. *glares* While I enjoyed the book, it left me with a feeling similar to the one I had when I finished Evangelion. Maybe they'll redo it all in the movie, hah.

Yeah...the GinnyxHarry thing was definitely just -POPPED UP MAGICALLY- Since book three Harry has been like "OMGCHOCHANG!" to the point I always thought they'd be a couple ._. (heck, I have like three fanfiction pieces on HarryxCho) and it was that he was crushing on her for two years or so before they "dated."

GinnyxHarry just suddenly sprang to life in book six, it wasn't as gradual and nicely put together as the HarryxCho thing. Kinda like what Cheshire said, it wasn't really "explained" very well. I didn't like HarryxGinny much at first myself, but I guess I got used to it? (Doesn't mean I like it of course, but...)

*raises hand* How did they die? XD

Good question xD

I don't think this was ever answered so...

It is never started exactly how Lupin and Tonks died. Since the stories are told only from Harry's point of view and he wasn't there to see it happen himself all that is mentioned about it is that Harry saw their bodies among the dead lying in the great hall. If you want to look for yourself in the book, it's somewhere between the first outbreak of fighting at Hogwarts and the FINAL fight. In that time when Voldemot was all like, "Bury your dead, tend to your injured, you have till midnight. Oh FYI Harry I'm calling you out FOOL! Dark Forest! Before midnight! Be there BIATCH!" That was paraphrasing by the way...

And now I go to write a paper for my Mythology class on how Harry Potter is a modern hero that fits into the arch types of Greek Mythology. WEE!

It just seemed kind of thrown in there for the sake of pairing Harry up with someone. In the passage in book six where Harry went all CHESTMONSTERRAWR when he saw her snogging someone else, I totally went "...Wait, what?" And little Lily. *imagines how kyoot she'll be* o^w^o

I threw a fit when Dobby died. D,:. And Tonks and Lupin was shocking, to say the least. And I think she killed hedwig because it'd be to troublesome and awkward to take Hedwig with them on their little adventures. She'd probably end up rotting away in her cage after Harry, Hermione, and Ron were forced to abondon their tent.

;__; Snape. I knew it, I knew it, I knew it all along that he was good, and I KNEW he was in love with Lily. God, he was so cute, the poor thing! I just wanted to give him a great big hug throughout the whole thing!

And then...Draco being saved by Harry in the end was just so sweet. I cried. And I always have a soft spot for Hagrid, the big moosey.

And then and then...UGHHH.

The Tonks and Lupin death thing, I don't care what anybody says, I thought it was well done. Most of the deaths that occured I felt should have been dealt with the way they were. It was war. You don't have time to really look back and mourn until afterwards. Even if Lupin was one of my favorites. ;_; It depresses me that there are no more Marauders...

And Sheepy, Sakura, you're not the only ones who like Bellatrix, even if I hate her! XD I hate her but I love her~

Ughhh I have a billion things I wanna say, but I just...I feel so satisfied. I didn't cry at the end, I just..had this warm, cozy feeling. I think it was wrapped up very well. (Though I would kill to see more written about the marauders and Snape. ;_;)

----

Alright, brace yourselves guys!~

This book was seriously intense!~ The kind that you can love and hate at the same time. My thoughts...

Snape:

All I can say is that I will be sending out alot of e-mail requesting that money people owe me. ^_^ No seriously though.

I knew from the moment he killed Dumbledore that he was 100% on the good side and am glad I stuck by it.

Deaths:

2 deaths my backside! I cried when Hedwig died. I was like, sure, start the book off by killing the bird!

At one point in the inbetween time when I wasn't reading the book the thought struck me, "oh my god, the Weasly twins are gonna die!" Then I dissmissed it. I also cried when Fred died, but more on that later.

Remus and Tonks: There goes the last of my Mauraders... ;__; In case anybody didn't know, I love the Mauraders. That one really hit me, but I'm sure it was a very noble death for both of them, in battle protecting eachother and Harry.

Dobby was just too touching for words.

As someone else said, the deaths were excessive, but that was the point. it wouldn't be a very realistic war if people we as readers cared about and the characters cared about didn't die.

The Weasleys

Oh my god, One of the most touching parts of this whole thing was when Percy came back! And the way he acted when Fred died... Oh my gosh, it was just absolutely beautiful!

Mrs Weasley rocks! The woman is tough! I never really felt much for her, even found her a bit annoying, but now I have a whole new respect for her. She has moved up in my favorite list.

I love the twins so much. When Fred died, all I could think was how hard George was taking it.

Relationships <3

Ron and Hermione-- Too sweet and about damn time! Hermione crying when Ron left. Ron screaming when Hermione was being torured. That kiss! Oh my god that kiss!

Harry and Ginny-- Although it was a match made in heaven, it was kind ushed. Oh well. Nice kids. ^_^

Remus and Tonks-- They had a baby! Go Remus! <3 Rest in peace. They left that kid in the care of a good godfather.

Snape and Lily-- Haha! Alot of fanfiction writer's dreams came true here! I knew it! I knew he had a thing for her!

The End

The final battle was epic, and utterly perfect! Exactly the way it was meant to go down.

I though the epilogue was rather sweet.Kinda fanfiction-y, but come on, it was cute!

All together it was an amazing way to end this epic tale.

All is well.

I hated Snape until the fifth book when Harry dived into Snape's memories and that was when I realized that Snape loved Lily. Then I was a bit iffy about if I thought he was good or not. I didn't like him for picking on Harry and stuff, but there was something that always bugged me that told me he was good - so I was pretty much neutral about what I thought until Chapter 33. I agree with pretty much everything SiriusFan17 said.
I stood by Severus the whole time, too... and now I TOTALLY understand why he was such a jerk to Harry. I mean, he shouldn't have even existed, because Lily should have been his... Harry should've been his kid, etc. etc.
THEY HAD A BABY! I've been saying that to anyone who'll listen even if they don't know what the hell I'm talking about. At first I was so depressed because I was worried that Remus didn't really love Dora, but then... that scene where he announced the birth... OH I was so happy. Because he was just giddy with that New Father euphoria and then I knew that he was absolutely in love with her. And he called her Dora!!!! Only her parents(and I) call her that, so it's like a pet name! So cute! *dies*
I was an absolute mess when it first happened, but by now I've totally come to terms with Dora and Remus's noble sacrifice to die for a cause that would assure that Teddy would grow up in a world at peace. They weren't Mommy and Daddy for very long time, but they did a hell of an awesome job at it.
Oh yeah, and I haven' t a clue what y'all are talking about. I think Albus Severus is a beautiful name. I smiled so big when I saw he'd named his kid that. I love that he has a James and a Lily, too! Awesome.
As for Ron and Hermione's kids... where the HELL did the name Hugo come from? O.o

As for Ron and Hermione's kids... where the HELL did the name Hugo come from? O.o

-Jaela

Yeah, I was wondering about that too! I was like, what the hell!?

Oh! It just came to me...

Kreacher was so awsome! I seriously did a 180 with my attitude towards him... Well, maybe a 170. I'm still mad at him for selling out Sirius. >.<

But at the end! Him leading an army of house elves with kitchen knives and cleavers! It was awsome! And made me giggle a bit.

And speaking of those final methods...

Did anyone else find the final battle for Hogwarts to be kinda funny? I mean, Trelawney throwing crystal balls and Mcgonagall screaming "charge!" to an army of running desks. In spite of all that death and destruction, it still gave me a few things to smile about. ^_^

I loathed Kreacher up until this book, but his change in attitude actually made him one of my favorite characters, I think. That, or Ron's line saying "And to think, I used to dream of cutting off his head and mounting it on the wall". xD And the image of him leading a whole horde of house-elves armed with kitchen cutlery amuses me way too much.

I LOVED the final battle at Hogwarts. All the professors friggin' ROCKED, man. Trelawney throwing crystal balls at Fenrir was perfect. xD

I <3 Snape.

i no, rite?

This book really moved Snape up on my favorites list. The chapter about his story made me cry. But, I was so pissed off when Hedwig died. HEDWIG. ;_; And Dobby. Actually, I loved a lot of the characters that died. The Epilogue was very fanfic-y though.

I'll write more after I read it again.

Yay! Amazon sent me two books by mistake, and I had difficulties with shipping the first one back (they said that they weren't gonna charge me, but the post office was going to anyway), so they said they were gonna refund me the shipping and purchase fee for the first book, and are letting me keep the second due to all of the difficulties.

So now I own a copy of the adult British version basically for free. Whoo! <3

I miss Snape already :( But I agree, it was so predictable- both his love for Lily and his unavoidable death.

My grandparents bought me and my brother a book each, but we agreed we didn't need two of the same book. So I sold one on ebay and made profit on the price my grandparents bought it for, even though I didn't pay for it in the first place :3

My roomate is reading it right now and it's really funny because she keeps shouting comments at me whenever something significant happens (which is about every 5-7 minutes) and I just have to smile and nod so I don't give anything away. But the really interesting part is...

She is unkowingly saying the same things about Harry right now (she's around Dobby's death) that Voldemort says at the end of the book, like "he's just letting everyone else around him protect and die for him" and "Who's going to come in and save him now, huh?" I wonder what her recation will be when she finds out she's having the same outlook as the Dark Lord. ^_^

This book has thrown me for a LOOP! I'm still not done with it, I've been sick for a week after the book came out and wasn't able to read it. I should finish it today... so help me God.. Even though I know EVERYTHING that is going to happen thanks to the stupid internet.... Oh yeah and I've already cried TWICE.

I totally cried whenever Harry visited his parent's graves, it was so emotional for me and I don't know why. I've never cried in a HP book but oh this got me. I could feel his sorrow and greif over his parents. And what the hell is with all these people dying? Like... FREAKIN EVERYONE is dying. A lot of people that I don't think had to die. Snape I can understand. But Mad-Eye, Dobby, Tonks, Lupin, FRED AND HEDWIG?! I dread reading Fred's death, that upsets me so much. Fred and George are my most favorite people EVER in this series. Damn you JK Rowling!!!!!!

The more I think about it, the more I feel like the epilogue was just a thinly veiled prelude to a new series involving the kids. Teddy is already set up to have a somewhat tragic life (parents dead, grandfather dead, possibly a werewolf,) and Albus Severus (aww) seems ripe for main charactership. What kind of wacky adventures will the Potter line get into this time?

I just can't see Rowling abandoning this world after doing so much to set it up. I'd love to see a Marauders era book, or something about the original Order. Even a Dumbledore slander rag would make me happy.

I know! Severus Snape, the series! *sigh* I don't want to read fanfics....

OH! REEEEEEEAAALLLLYYYY important spoiler I found in a Q and A with JKR about the death of... well... read if you want to know.

Casey Kunze: Who killed remus and tonks I think if I knew this, I would get some closure over the very sad, but understandable, death of two of my favorite characters
J.K. Rowling: I'm so sorry! I met a couple on launch night who had come dressed as Lupin and Tonks, and I felt dreadfully guilty as I signed their books!
J.K. Rowling: Remus was killed by Dolohov and Tonks by Bellatrix.

And THERE you have the answer to one of the most asked questions of the book.

In fact HERE is the link to the Q and A: http://www.mugglenet.com/app/news/full_story/1156
It's VERY helpful and clears up alot of the holes left in the story like what happened to all the people that lived but here not mentioned in the epilouge

WHOA! I finished the book! After 6 hours of non-stop reading, i finally finished! It wrapped up alot of stuff, and i actually cried when harry used the ring to see his mum, dad, sirius, lupin before he went to see voldermort Overall, its a good wrap up of the series. The epilogue sounded like a new series... Who knows? Maybe Jo would change her mind and start another series related to HP!

I totally just finished the book a little bit ago T.T

Anyone else notice that

Ron and Hermione's kids are named Hugo and Rose - which are both characters from street fighter. I find it odd because well, who names their kid Hugo on a normal basis?

simply put, this book was a load of butt. it had a CRAPLOAD of plot holes, characters dying on and off screen for no reason, and the epilogue read like it was written by a twelve year old inuyasha fanfic writer. i was VERY disappointed by this book and sorry that her work went so downhill. either being deus ex machina dobby, 350 pages of emo and teen angst, or just sheer boredem. This book really fell below all expectations. but it makes me very sad, because i REALLY WANTED to like this book. But sadly i couldn't T_T

The epilogue is actually written BEFORE the first book (or am i wrong? Right after the first book?) So this probably is what makes it look like a fanfiction...

Im not a huge fan of HP, but well, i started the series, so why not finish it? But i must agree, its full of plot holes and random people dying o.o

Addressing the issue of all the deaths, it's a war. Countless people die for no reason, because that's how it is in reality.

Doesn't mean I was thrilled with who she chose to kill off, though. ;_;

I realized in the end that it WAS a book series meant for kids so it was what it was in the end. I think she did start off stronger in the beginning but deadlines and demand probably suffered her writing just like it does to all good writers.

I do feel like there should have been something more though. Something that should have clicked and made everything just fall to the end in place. It was choppy and moments where there should have been more granduer involved ( aka: Voldy's Death) were just mere moments read and gone in a book.

In regards to Voldy's Death - I agree.

It was literally over before I knew it. I expected a long amazing battle - not what actually happened. I literally had to check twice to see if it was really over :S
