what really got me, was that they left out so much of the explanations that are in the book. Like all the stuff about the map... and Harry's patronus being a stag... I guess they figured that the book readers would still get it and the non book readers didn't need to know yet.

plus... it's really hard to condense a 500 page book into a 2 and a half hour movie...

But I thought it was pretty.... like the sets and the designs and stuff...

How did Lupin know how the Maruder's map worked?
A Patronus can take form of things?
Why was Harry's Partonus a stag?
How did Lupin know how to stop the Whomping Willow?
How did Lupin know that there was a tunnel underneath the Whomping Willow?
Why does the Shreiking Shack even exist?
How is Lupin related to Harry's father?
How is Lupin related to Sirius?
Why did Hermione need to 'get to all of her classes' with a time turner? (She had like 12 classes, they didn't explain that. It doesn't make sense for her to use it if she has a regular schedule.)


Blah... I'm braindead this morning, it's 8:30, give me a break. But there are tons more things that the movie left out... I was highly disappointed in some spots.

upon watching the movie a second time, I think that *most* of the unresolved issues could be deduced from watching the film. At least as far as Lupin is concerned. Some of the detail (ex. Why does the shrieking shack exist) while it's nice background information to have is not integral to the plot. It's fun to get outraged over, but overall the movie is rather nice, even without the extra detail.

I SO did want to see them win the quidditch cup though. *sigh*

*Blinks* I thought it was really good. I was also a little bothered by a lot of key explanations that were missing. But my thought is maybe they'll stick some of that into the beginning of the fourth movie.
I enjoyed it a lot; it was fun and downright creepy at some points. And lynch me, but I really liked Lupin. It took me awhile to realize he was Einon from Dragonheart.
And if people are worried about all the stuff that was left out of this movie, think of how much is going to be chopped from the fourth one O.O
I'm just glad they kept the scene with Boggart Snape ^_~.

Um...HELLO. Cuaron said that he hadn't read the books before being OFFERED THE JOB. After that, he read PoA and the REST of the Harry Potter books before beginning production. Don't bash people with made-up facts.

PoA is the one of the HP movies so far with any cinematic merit.

And dammit, Lupin's swing music was awesome. :P

Yes, I did hear about the little people playing the piano he was going to have in the first Great Hall scene. MY GOD! LITTLE PEOPLE! THE HARRY POTTER UNIVERSE IS RUINED!

Alfonso Cuaron did not stick to every single detail of the book because that is not how you make an adaptation. Cuaron said he LOVED the books. But an adaptation is all about changes. A book is not a movie.

Not to mention the fact that Prisoner of Azkaban is J.K. ROWLING'S favorite of the movies, too.

I really liked the movie. He's by far the best director which the Harry Potter movies have gotten so far; I wish he was continuing with the future films. The technical continuity flaws didn't bother me; didn't keep it from being enjoyable for me.

As I said before it's the more pretty film but everyone and their duck has the phone number of a good SFX company. There are tons of films like that what I liked about the first two is that they have "it" .

I look fowards to film 4 new director and looks like it's got some pretty fine casting. Rita Skeeter looks amazingly well cast.

But there's a very large difference between cinematography and SFX. The former is what made the film visually beautiful.

Holy crap-- YES. Definitely a good casting call on that one. I can NOT wait for more Harry Potter stuff to come out!! As much as I rant, I really do love the movies and books.

Prisoner of Azkaban had soe amazing effects in it... Like the fact that they actually built a MOVING full sized model of Buckbeak! Individually glued and hand picked/dyed feathers, and all! Talk about thinking of everything! Oo;; The way they went about the special effects in the movie were just... whoa. Blew my mind.
