From what I remember from you X (awesome job by the way), I'd say Yuichi Kaname from the Sky Crawlers. He's a Kildren, people that don't age and used for aerial warfare that's seen as a game to the general public (and the'yre reproduced after they're killed). Throughout the movie, he's eager to find out what happened to the previous pilot of the plane that's been given to him at the beginning of the movie and well...I won't spoil what happens after that.
